Quinn grinned cheekily back at him, “Are you sure you want to do that?” A good crocheted project could take as many as 10-20 skeins of yarn depending on the stitch pattern and thickness of the yarn in question. Though she wasn’t great at it in any case she kept trying though. Though if she was careful in her selections she could easily mix it with what she had left in her quarters. To come up with a vivid creation of numerous colors without clashing with the hues.

For a brief moment, an expression of panic flashed across Cobb’s face, his eyes examining his mountain of credits and wondering if they would be enough. But a gentle laugh from the storekeeper put him at ease.
“Aye, go right ahead,” he nodded to Quinn. “What are you planning to make with it all?”Waiting patiently for Kindle to make her selections, Cobb stepped back out onto the promenade and glanced in the direction of the bar. He was more than ready for a drink or several after this brief shopping excursion.

Quinn chose seven different skeins being very careful of her selections and mindful of the price, she figured she could always come back another time and get more if she needed it but the ones she picked out would defininately blend well with what she had already in her quarters. “Thank you very much and you’ll see when I get it finished.” she brought the rest of the credits and her newly aquired skeins of yarn to him. “Ready to hit the bar and tell me what the meeting was about?” she asked looking up at him with a smile.

“Aye,” Zachariah replied, his previous cheerfulness suddenly dissipated. “There is a reason I am steering you towards the bar before discussing that meeting.”
Silent now, he led the way out of the store and back onto the main promenade, the once vibrant sights and sounds of the merchant deck now all but invisible. Reaching the bar, he ordered an old fashioned for himself and whatever Quinn desired and then, with her hand in one of his and his drink in the other, they exited the bar area and stepped out onto the area known as the ‘patio’.
Such was the impressive beauty of this area that, for a moment, Cobb almost forgot about the earlier meeting. And indeed it could be said that, along with the crow’s nest, this was architecturally one of the most unique areas on the entire station. The whole space was approximately 30 x 30 ft, with the leftside edge curved to follow the circular station, and filled with self-cleaning tables, chairs and comfortable seating. But the true magic of the patio lay not in its furnishings, but in its position on the exterior of the station. Only a thin forcefield dome held back the surrounding space, its transparent and intangible composition allowing a wholly unobstructed view of the nebula, of the crow’s nest and, far off in the distance, of the docking bay nursing the Leviathan. The effect was truly one of being ‘outdoors’, one with the stars and the gasses and dark matter. One with the truly undeniable beauty of the universe.
And for several moments the captain fell into silence, his eyes drinking in every inch of the view. And somewhere a small boy stood, lonely and alone, on a windswept beach on Nantucket, and gazed back up at him.

Quinn looked around her eyes taking in every detail. She had never seen anything like this patio that let them sit outside, seeing the wonderous Nebula, their ship, and all the vastness of space. She leaned over and gave Zachariah’s hand a gentle squeeze, “This is a wonderful view, thank you for showing me.” she said softly, her eyes bright on his face and the warmth of emotion. “What are you thinking?” she asked softly, her left hand give his a gentle squeeze.

Her words were like a tether to reality, the anchor that kept him grounded and safe against the shore. His eyes abandoning the landscape to focus exclusively on her once again, Zachariah selected a table at the edge of the patio and settled wearily into one of its twin seats.
“This mission, Quinn,” he began, voice low and secretive despite the patio’s only other patrons being seated at the opposite side of the space, “ahh, it sounds like a bad one. I could sense Roebuck’s torment when he handed it to us. Could see the conflict in his face. Two ships already have been swallowed by this thing. And they are lining us up to be the third.”
He barked out a dry laugh, one hand combing anxiously through his long hair.
“DaiMon Lazol quit on the spot. And in truth I remain amazed that he was the only one! And also a little envious that I could not walk out of there beside him.”
