As the petty officer. Amiliea Crosby came on board she then came to the captain and checked in with the captain. When she did so she felt like somethings going to happen but then noticed that nothing is gonna happen to her because she’s safe on a good ship and that the fact that she will do a good job for her job and that the fact that she’d do well. She then chimed the captains ready room and wanted to let him know that she’s there.

The door slid open silently and a slight whisper of cool air issued forth.

The office was an empty space at the moment, containing little more than a desk, three chairs, and a view screen. Four large crates with top of the line locks and access readers sat on the far side of the room from the desk, and an impressive custom-made rifle of some unknown kind stood in the corner by the rooms 9nly occupant… a Breen..

The figure sat behind the desk immobile, hands placed flat on the desk in front of them. As the door slid open, a wholly artificial and seemingly computer -generated voice said simply “Enter.”

Crosby then walked in and said “petty officer Crosby reporting in captain.” She knew that it was important to check in with the captain before going to duty. She knows that if she didn’t, she’d be in so much trouble and wouldn’t like the consequences. She then decided to salute to give respect to the captain.

The figure behind the desk didn’t move, not even a little. The voice came from the helmet and said “I am not a Captain. I am a Chief Warrant Officer. Sit, Petty Officer Crosby. Tell me why you are here, other than simply reporting.”

“Well I would like to get started on my duty post as soon as I can. If possible. I know that it’s early for me to ask about that. But I feel like I’m ready. Honestly as a fellow member of the RTF and as a petty officer it is my solem duty to do my best at my post and what is necessary.” She said to the CWO and sat there.

The helmeted figure didn’t move even a fraction of an inch. “You misunderstand me. Why are you here on the Leviathan? What qualifications do you have to be part of the Recovery Task Force? Your file is… inadequate… for such an assignment. Tell me what training you have had, and why you were assigned to me.”

The petty officer then handed her data file to chief warrant officer Vonn and then didn’t say anything. She then thought that it was something that she would actually be willing to do. She would love to be there to work not asked a lot of questions and said. “Well sir. If you actually look at my record you’ll understand why I wanted to join here with you and everyone else.” She said as she frowned away from him.

The figure didnt move to take the PaDD, but the voice spoke. “No. I do not understand. Your file is inadequate for such understanding. I do not know what you studied at the Academy. I do not know what training or skills you have. I do not know whether you are a scientist, a warrior, or a mechanic. I have no framework with which to judge your abilities or your strengths and weaknesses. In short, Petty Officer… I do not know what to do with you, nor do I have any way of determining how to use you in an effective and successful manner. If I were to just put into a team and set you against an anomaly, you would die. And you would get other, more qualified and useful personnel, killed along with you. I have no intention of wasting such talent simply to ‘have you on the team’. So again I will ask you… Why are you here on the Leviathan? What qualifications do you have to be part of my Recovery Task Force? Simply ‘wanting’ to be isn’t enough to join my unit. Everyone who knows of us wants to. But all of my team members bring something with them. Skills, knowledge, training… so what do you bring, Petty Officer? Why do I need you on my team?”

The voice was artificial… flat… emotionless… but something in it said that Vonn wasn’t one to ask the same question again.

“Sorry sir. My qualifications is more mechanical. I was assigned here from the academy. I was looking for a unit to join since I am more into mechanics. My studies in the academy was like I mentioned mechanics. Mechanics has always been my strongest then being a scientist and a warrior. Those two has always been my weakness.” She said feeling distrot to herself where she feels like that she wouldn’t be much of a good fit.

With that being said she was wondering why she even came to do her check in to the warrant officer to begin with. She was also curious on why he was being so strict. She’s used to having people being strict but not to strict to her. She’s new to something like this and she is also fragile when it comes to things where she doesn’t want to talk about.

Vonn didn’t move or twitch, but the display on his desk activated and the voice said “Mechanical aptitude noted. As for the rest. You do realize that the role of the RTF is to apply tactics and scientific solutions in order to render anomalous entities either contained or destroyed, do you not? And the application of those solutions is often done against the will of the entity? And by the very nature of imposing our will upon said entities, we are often called upon to apply force up to and including deadly force? You say you being a warrior is your weakest aspect. Does that mean you are not capable of fighting? Or does that mean that your skill in the arena of mechanical issues is simply greater than your fighting prowess. In order for you to answer the question honestly and clearly, let me give you an example. Our Counselor. She is trained in psychology and psychoanalysis. She brings an understanding of mental and emotional trauma to the RTF which in turn allows us to more effectively come up with an appropriate response to anomalies. But she is also quite adept at close-quarters fighting. So she is useful to the teams in multiple aspects. Ensign Luna. She understands Security protocols and countermeasures. She is also soon to be an adept long-range marksman. So she is useful in multiple aspects as well. Now, it is true that we have some members who do not have quite the multi-layered benefits some do… but they are more than capable fighters, which by your own admission you are not. So is there something other than mechanical aptitude you can bring to the team? ‘No’ is an acceptable answer. That will, however, severely limit your role within the RTF.”

“Yes sir. I know my security protocol as well. Actually for my scientist side is limited. So is my warrior as well. I mean yes I know you’d like it if I was more scientist side of me and my warrior side of me was better but matter of fact I could use some training here if that is alright with you. But sir. I may also say that my medical is a little stronger then normal. I’ve taken all courses at the academy. I’ve learned medical, security, counseling, some science and some warrior stuff sir.” The petty Officer said to Vonn. She knew that this stuff was important for him to know when it is relevant for him.

Still, there was no movement form the armored Breen. “ ‘Stuff’, you say… very well. What stuff are you referring to? You speak of your time at the Academy, but yet your file shows no departmental specification. Are you engineering? Medical? Security? Science? Operations? Something else? And a secondary question: why would an enlisted crew member be at the Academy? Did you fail to graduate? I do not ask to be difficult. I ask because I need to know who you are and what you can do specifically, not generally. Without those specifics, my options for placing you within the RTF Framework are very limited.”

“For departments sir. All of the above. Secondly my academy years got cut short cause I failed the academy. But I did get a lot of the recommendations from the academy as much as I can sir.” As she started to explain it to him and then stayed standing.
