Anaya walked towards the Counselors office for her first meeting since coming aboard, moving with the ease and unconscious grace of a trained dancer, almost seeming to flow down the corridor, as if somehow petty physics like friction and gravity somehow applied less to her than to others.Heads turned as she passed others by, both female and male crew members, a natural reaction to meeting a Deltan in most species and something she had gotten used to since leaving Delta IV for the Academy.
She nodded her thanks to a NE that stepped aside to allow her into the turbolift, causing the unfortunate gentleman to drop his PaDD. The doors closing behind her fortunately saving him from any further blushes.
She paused outside the office to check her uniform but the fit remained flawless, hugging tight to her long slim legs, even the somewhat utilitarian star fleet uniform somehow looking like couture on her toned frame. In truth, she usually preferred to work in civilian attire but until she knew the preference of the senior Counselor and Captain regarding this she would wear the uniform as protocol dictated.
She extended a finger, the cuticle and nail perfectly manicured and shaped, and pushed the door chime, stepping back to await an answer.
Lt JG Anaya - Asst Counselor
Casela was chest deep in paperwork that day. All in order to prep for her surgery the next day. She heard the chime. Right on time. A point in her favor. “Come in!” She signed off on the last file from Boroughs and put it aside for encryption later. She’d put in a request to ARU command, the head counselor there and hoped to hear back before she went on medical leave.
Lt Synthi-er CNSThe door opened, framing a tall, slim figure that seemed to be backlit by the corridor lights, almost creating a corona effect around her momentarily as she stepped into the office, the effect only enhanced by the smooth hairless scalp that along with the graceful, flowing movements marked the newcomer as a Deltan.
“My Greetings Sir” the voice that emanated from the figure matched the movements, almost a feline purr in its tone, ever so slightly deeper than one would perhaps expect, its warm, velvet, texture spoke of both an easy self confidence and in this case deference to a superior or at least respected equal.
“Lieutenant Junior Grade Anaya, reporting for duty.”
Lt Jg Anaya - Asst Councelor
Casela mentally shook her head, the way Deltans always seemed to make an entrance even after having entered, never failed to make her eye roll. To herself. It wasn’t at them, it was just their people. She always wanted to go to their homeworld and study them from a sociological imagination point of view. To see all these ‘movie stars’ and no ‘little people’ and what everyday life was like for them.
She stood walking around to shake her hand. “Welcome aboard, Lt Anaya. Get something from the replicator and have a seat. Among my staff I prefer a more easy atmosphere when we talk. We all do better when we know we can speak our minds. There is a time and place for it, but not at the moment.” Casela turned back to her desk, and despite all the PaDDs on her desk they were stacked in some order that she knew, grabbed a specific PaDD, her coffee, and took a seat. “Tell me Lt. what made you decide to come to Leviathan and the ARU?”
Lt Synthi-er CNSAnaya nodded her thanks and glided over to the replicator unit.
“Tea, Lapsang Souchong, black, hot” she ordered, accepting the cup as it materialised in place. She drank in the smokey aroma appreciatively, clearly whoever programmed the replicators around here knew their stuff and this would do until she could install a few blends of her own and unpack her things.
She settled languidly into the offered seat and took a moment to gauge her answers.
“I Thank you Counsellor, for both the tea and the welcome” she said, holding up the tea cup in salute to her host.
“I too favour an informal atmosphere, I find it more conductive to both business and pleasure, yes?” She said, her voice taking on a lighter, friendly tone that would put the listener in mind of a comforting mug of silky smooth hot chocolate in front of a nice log fire.
Casela could not agree, but then her experiences were unique. And discussing ‘pleasure’ with a Deltan was a conversation for a less formal setting. Casela admonished herself, she was too tired for this.
“As to why I am here? Why, I go were I am needed Lieutenant!” With a sweep of her arm she took in the stack of PaDD’s tottering dangerously on the desk. She laughed delicately, her demeanour now that of someone sharing a joke with on old friend, her laugh a delicate yet melodic sound, like wind chimes in a summers evening.
“But joking aside, I am indeed needed here yes? My understanding is that your work here can be as stressful and damaging to the mind as to the body?”
LtJG Anaya - Asst Counsellor
Casela nodded, “Yes, your arrival is most welcome and could not come at a better time. But that does not answer my question. How did you end up with ARU? Did they recruit you specifically for this spot, or were you pulled in for different purposes?”
“The work here on Leviathan is very dangerous and taxing. The anomalies we are charged with caturing and containing can be benign or dangerous. Being the flag ship means we see very little of the benign type. Physical to telepathic attacks are everyday occurences here. Things of living nightmares for some. Down here in the bowels of the ship, it is quiet and we try to maintain that. The whole deck is ours. The main offices are off the lobby with four corridors extending out to the hull with a circulating corridor on the outside. We provide recreation rooms for games, music, meditation, art, and we have several empty rooms we can do more with. Another corridor is patient rooms for anyone needing to stay. All counselors here are also certified nurses or medics. If you don’t have one of those we will get you certified. Another corridor, has by default become a school wing. Also the first room down the port corridor has been converted to a miniature mess hall.” Casela paused there to see if she had comments, suggestions, or questions.
