“Colours…” she whispered.

Casela shook her head and gently placed her injured arm back down.

Theo smirked slightly, amused. He considered, well there goes the funds the mother is going to be present. But still.. yes he didn’t want the counsellor and the dog thing present but it was a trivial matter really. Externally he nodded. “Of course counsellor.”

Dr Knox and Gen

“We will stay out of the way, but I don’t want the crew at risk if we can help it. And we don’t know what happened. Caution, I would hope you would agree Dr Knox, is prudent.”

We’ll wait until she is recovered, at least lucid, but we tell her after this He thought loudly in his mind. Perhaps Gen had already listened to their plan and knew what they wanted to tell her. “I will return to the CIC as soon as she is ready and lucid notify immediately, myself and Lieutenant Synthi-er need to talk to the girl” It seemed far to aggressive to be calling her a ‘girl’ and he wasn’t even sure why. Raauhl wasn’t sure how she’d take the news but knew they had to wait post-op even then there was a risk she’d blow a Gen sized hole in the bulkheads.

“Lieutenant, Doctor” He nodded and smiled to them both before he departed and turned to Gen, “Get well soon Gen. I’ll be back later I promise.” He gave her own reassuring smile, before proceeding to leave. As much as he wanted to stay he also had a duty in the CIC, that and he trusted the people he left her with. He hoped thier news and going forward that he would make a good… father.

  • Cmdr Raauhl, XO

Casela nodded to Raauhl in agreement of both his words and thoughts. “Fenrir wait outside. I’m sure the doctor wants his medical staff to get in here.” She followed both Fenrir and Raauhl out but stayed near the door ‘listening’ to make sure Gen stayed calm.
Lt Synthi-er CNS

Gen watched both go and seemed to take this in from a far away sort of place. A mild panic built in her at the fact they were leaving but it was gone as quickly as it started. Dulled rainbows bounced off of one another across the room. She could feel the pain still but it was as if they had happened to someone else and not to her. She watched the walls dissolve into bubbles and reform.

Casela tried to soothe Gen telepathically, but wasn’t sure how much Gen would understand. Casela could tell she was in pain, but not on very aware of it.

As the officers left Theo nodded his head respectfully to each one and turned back go the girl. Medical team’s summoned at the press of a button on the wall began to move in with an antigrav stretcher. Theo moved forward and pressed the tips of his fingers to the girls neck again checking her pulse. As he counted he carefully moved his thumb over the bruising on her neck for a split second. Then he stepped back and the medical team moved her and he followed from the room contemplative.

Gen and Theo

Casela followed the team and stepped into the scrub room, taking the time to not only to prep herself as well as Fenrir. She stepped into the room behind the medical staff with Fenrir. She moved them to a far corner and put Fenrir on alert. She ‘listened’ to Gen, removing herself from her attachment. Maybe McHarrie should do this. He was the anomaly physician on board. Her job was to make sure Hen’s abilities didn’t hurt anyone and that was what she was focused on.
Lt Synthi-er CNS

As the girl was prepped and moved into surgery Theo had left to scrub in and returned in surgical wear. He surveyed the surgical prep notes and the readings. He brought up the computer rendering of the break and considered his approach. Internally Theodore was busy making note of the girls vitals and other interesting facts about her physiology as he noticed them.

The surgical nurse put on some classical piano music which apparently Theo seemed happy with as he began correcting the break.

“So counsellor, it seems safe to say you are emotionally attached to this young lady.” he asked conversationally.

Gen meanwhile floated in a small sea of darkness. Everything was gone, echoing into the never ending black. She looked down at her barefoot and wondered where her socks had gone and why she was standing in water.

Theo and Gen

Casela raised a brow. “When she arrived on board she was very traumatized. She was put in my care and it remains that way.” She would neither confirm nor deny. She might have reason to trust Knox medically but Casela wouldn’t give him anything to report back. “She’s a child and no matter what has happened to her she is still a child and we have an obligation.”
Lt Synthi-er CNS

“Dont worry counsellor I have no intention of telling our mutual friends about the girl.” Knox murmered without looking up from his work. He passed on instrument to the nurse and collected another. He made no such promise not to study her however. “Brace yourself this will sound worse than it is.” he added as he gave a tug and a good snapping crack noise sounded. Gen’s heart rate spiked for a few second them returned to normal.

The nurse at the foot looked up and nodded from her scans of Gen’s blood flow. She smiled as Casela.

Casela gave a slight shrug. She heard bones being set before, she’d been awake to have her own set once. It didn’t phase her. She watched the monitors and nodded to the nurse with a smile. But apparently Knox couldn’t keep his mouth shut. Every nurse and med tech in there knew Gen and genuinely wanted to keep her safe. They assumed he meant ARU command and agreed that ARU shouldn’t know. He needed to be aware of who was listening.

Theo gave her a slight smile.

The darkness is changing and she can hear people screaming. confused Gen turns towards the sound, through the water, through the dark. She finds herself on the corridors of a ship. A large corridor where the crew are running around. Claxons wail overhead and acidic smoke are rising across the corridor. She can see darkness, pitch darkness closing in down the long corridor again but this time it’s moving. Alive and malevolent.

=^= All hands…static abadonstatic repeat, abanstatic ship!=^= her father’s voice yells and she knows her mother is already gone.

Like a shadowy liquid, ink black, creeping, eating the corridor as it comes. The people who fall in its path are swallowed, they scream and writhe until they are silenced by it. Consumed.

She can feel her heartbeat in her ears, feels it coming towards her. Wide-eyed she turns and does what she did the first time she stood here on this corridor. She runs.

Knox and Gen

Casela felt a sudden tiny shock on her leg. She placed a hand on Fenrir. She was okay but her heart rate matching Gen’s had concerned him. The memories offered insight that Gen hadn’t been able to face, but now was not the time to be distracted. Those memories could cause a reaction. “Dr. Knox should she be lucid enough to be dreaming?” There was genuine concern and warning in her voice.
Lt Synthi-er, CNS

“Interesting…” Theo said glancing at the readouts and in particular on the brainwave patterns. “Very interesting but no…” he passed in his repair work and putting down his instruments leaned over the girl to roll her eyelids with his thumbs. Her heart rate spikes again and her O2 stats begin to drop.

“Well now, we can’t have thatl” Theo muttered Immediately delivering a hypo to counteract the reaction. Her then oressed the tips of three of his fingers on the right hand into her neck and watched her vitals stabilise. Satisfied he picked up a hypo, held it up to the light to check it then delivered a long dose to the teens neck. “Very interesting.” he continued. It was on the tip of his tongue to sooth the girl. He settled for an internal dialogue instead. Shh now, there’s a good girl.

Gen is running. Her legs pumping as fast as she can go. She lost her shoes three decks ago. In her bare feet she throws herself into the jefferiesmtune and crawls moving as fast as her aching muscles can carry her. Her hair trialing behind her as she navigates the twists and turnsinto the Bowels of the ship. Only one thought as the screaming continues echoing all around. Got to get away.

She can hear it spread she dosen’t understand how, somehow closing the distance, as she clears another corner. Into her favorite hiding spot. Pulling herself into a ball in the 4 way junction she close her eyes, places her hands over her ears and begins to count in her head. one…two…three…she hears a low growling sound. Feral and hungry and continues in time with her heart beat. four, five, six, seven

She feelsnitnsurroundnher from all sides, refuses to open her eyes or move her hands. eight, nine, ten a tendril of shadow wraps around her throat and lifts her from the floor, the pressure chokes out the counting. In a panic her hands fly to the pressure and scramble and scratch at it and her eyes open. The darkness looms over and around her at the same time a shadowy hand wrapped around her neck. It expects her to scream but she can’t there isn’t enough air. It shakes her and engulfs her with the screams of everyone else, everyone on board louder and louder. Bright red glowing eyes burning into her mind and just when she can’t take any more when she knows she’s going to die…

…shenjs back standing in the calm, darkness, bare feet in cool water as a distant voice says soothingly. “Shh now, there’s a good girl.” Gen blinked and shuddering curcled up into a ball. She felt so tired.
