The ship was all but quiet, bustling crew and grinding hull plating met with the power systems humming in their low drone made the usual background noise found on nearly all starships. What the crew of the Leviathan didn’t know, was that a Hallicrafters S-38C had materialized and lodged itself gently underneath the left warp nacelle strut. This little radio from the far off year of 1947 was an anomaly to say the least, and the first indication was that of an activation of the comms system that could not be switched off. A crackling came through, like radio static and a jingle that was far to tinny coupled with an enthusiastic announcer who was straight out of a 1920’s radio drama.

“Welcome welcome to the Continuing Adventures of Pants Spider where we join our hero in the action as he attempts to scale the legs of the cold and distant man with large ears and a sour disposition!” The broadcast crackled and popped as it continued, “A silent shambling in the shadows as our beloved Pants Spider made his way through the ship, destined for greatness as he fulfilled his mission to bring warmth to any cold set of legs. He jumped and spun, dodging those who did not require his service still he stopped! The hairs on his leg twitching as he exclaimed, “Great Goodness! My pants senses are tingling!” He hopped up and did a little jig in the air as he exclaimed, “Well I’ll be, it’s time to go warm up someone who needs me!” He scurried his self off and towards the legs that needed him so dearly. Effortlessly he made his way through the corridors and hallways as his hairs twitched even faster, “My oh my I haven’t felt a need like this in years!” Approaching the door he shivered and shimmied his way through the cracks. And as it turns out a supernatural natural spider destined to wrap itself around someone’s groin can make it’s way through a pretty small space, he smiled as best as a pants spider can and wiggled a bit before jumping!

The drama cut out as the announcer came back on with the usual heightened voice and exaggerated words, “Tune in next week to find out if our stalwart hero will fulfill his destiny! Will the large eared man fight back? Could this be the end for Pants Spider? Will he ever return to his beloved 8 Legged Mistress of the Purse? Tune in to find out!
