elsewhere on LeviathanHampton slammed his head on the control panel. His power was fading faster than it should have. Something had happened on the other Leviathan, he could sense the temporal energy leaving him quickly. He couldn’t make his escape attempt, Leviathan would easily stop him. He looked that the chronometer, he had 90 minutes to wait before the monster arrived, while Leviathan was distracted with that creature, he could make his getaway. The moment of panic was replaced with a serene calmness. He was going to be alright. Even though his powers were draining, he still had some, and his gadgets and tech were in place, the plasma generator had been leaking plasma in shuttle bay 2 for hours, and the rest of his gear was ready to roll. He strolled into his quarters. On his bed was a tactical backpack and utility belt. He had his various tactical devices on his belt, and the bag contained a type 3 phaser and the generator he had used on Einstein, except this time it created a mushroom which screened him from internal sensor sweeps. Grabbing his upgraded type 2, he holstered it.
90 minutes to freedom, that was all he needed. He paused for a moment to consider that he should have killed the whole group when he had the chance, but he shrugged his shoulders, it was too late, he had spent too much savoring the opportunity to torture them he had not actually taken it. Nothing he could do about it now. He briskly left his quarters and disappeared into a Jeffries tube. Four on one, the odds were not in his favor, but that was nothing, they never had been.
Mr. Hampton
Casela nodded firmly to Surda as she and Durheim left. She looked at Raauhl, “Guess we’re going to the shuttle bay.” She turned to the door and headed down the corridor to a turbolift. Might be safe, might not. Not enough time left to decide. “Let’s go Fenrir.” And no time for being overly cautious either. She entered the turbolift, “Shuttle bay 2.” Rather than being agitated and overly alter she was still and quiet, a trait that usually got her the frightened looks from others. Was the thing Hampton, or just using his body? There had been no answer from the computer about the shuttle launching…she felt like they were missing something. =^=Synthi-er to Surda. I don’t know about you, but I feel like we are missing something. What caused all this destruction? We checked sensor logs for the orb, but we didn’t look to see what happened after, how the destruction to the ship happened. Maybe you and Durheim can get better logs from down in Engineering?=^=
She looked at Raauhl then, oopps…that was his call wasn’t it? Oh well. “Sorry Cmdr.” was all she said and then stepped out of the turbolift and towards the shuttle bay (OOC assuming our good StoryTeller let’s us make it safely on and off the turbolift)
Lt. Synthi-er, CNSDurheim scuttled over to the access hatches for the Jefferies tubes, quickly wrenching them open. Engineering was below them; and in a hurry (like now) they could be quicker than the turbolift; and less reliant on ship’s power. Jonathan was wary of both the time-sensitive nature of their current predicament, and the spotty reliability of the alternate Leviathan’s systems. Grabbing the ladder and placing his feet to the outside of the rungs, he slid down; in this fashion he was able to move decks (albeit in only one direction) very rapidly. Shortly, he arrived at the engineering deck; stepping aside from the hatch to wait for Ms. Surda. He preferred working alone in most situations, but it would be quite rude to leave the Security Chief behind; not to mention dangerous - for both of them, potentially.
OOC: Not sure if y’all want to split up the thread or not; either way works for me!Crewman Durheim; reprising his role as tunnel rat
Surda watched Durnheim go down the tube, following after him as soon as he was clear. She stood at the bottom and turned to face him, tilting her head. She heard the call from Casela and motioned for him to start walking. =/\= Surda to Synthi-er. I hope we can get better data, but we may have to be content with never knowing. Something happened to this Hampton to warp him the way it did. =/\= She frowned running through the options. “People don’t turn traitor unless they have a good reason.” Of all people, she would know. “And if he showed no earlier indication something in the orb changed him.” She had turned because she wanted to be more than a product, but she doubted that was it. “What would make you turn traitor Durnheim?”
-Surda, CoSDurheim moved carefully down the dark corridors; scanning the paths in front of him in case of ‘surprises.’ He listened quietly to the conversation over the comms; he made no pretense of understanding the thoughts and actions of others, and it was interesting listening. He paused momentarily at Lt. Surda’s question before continuing through the dark hallways. “Anger; Miss Surda. Frustration with my supposed superiors who were blinded by tradition and religion. Peoples must make due with what they have - be it history, intelligence, technology, whatever; I accept that. But I cannot accept blind adherence to a demonstrably false belief. I am a naturally content man, Miss Surda - I do not require much in life. But I will, and have, risked my life to turn against my… ‘tribe’, if you will. The potential rewards outweighed the risks - and looking back, I consider the loss of my arms to be a welcome trade for my current situation. I can only speak for myself, of course - I assume Mr Hampton’s alleged recent actions are spurring your question; and I cannot speak for his motivations. I do suspect that anger plays a role, however.” Durheim’s done was level and matter-of fact; only gaining a measure of intensity when he spoke on false beliefs. He did consider himself to be a man of science, after all.
=^=I just have this feeling in my gut, we don’t have the whole picture, that we are missing a HUGE piece. Maybe they already have it back on our Leviathan. I’m not even sure this IS Hampton and not some anomaly look a like. We’re at the shuttle bay now. Take nothing for granted my friend. Synthi-er Out.=^=
Lt Synthi-er, RTF(OOC: Assuming that Durheim and Surda make it through the ship unhindered)
Durheim paused outside the Chief Engineer’s door; scanning it with his tricorder - though he held little in the way of expectations; Mr. Hampton was a fiendishly talented man. (If nothing appears unusual, and Surda doesn’t protest, Durheim will cautiously open the door and step inside, scanning the interior of the room.)Durheim, Engineering
Surda nodded to Durheim, still considering his words. She smiled grimly as a thought struck her. =/\= You said he’s always been paranoid. What if something proved his paranoia right?=/\= She turned back to Durheim and spoke softly. “There is nothing more dangerous than a desperate man.”
-Surda, CoS
Durheim nodded in agreement. “Metaphorically speaking, you are correct Miss Surda. Desperation tends to remove hesitation and doubt; add a keen mind and whatever else has happened to Mr. Hampton…” He left the rest unsaid; distracted as he was quickly searching the man’s office. He didn’t expect to find much, but it was worth the effort to be sure.
-Durheim, Engineering
Casela sighed. =^=Then Lt we better hope we are smarter than he is. He’s brilliant and devious if needs be. Brute strength or superior numbers will not best him.=^= Hampton was brilliant and paranoid. If this ‘thing’ had convinced him that the crew really was out to get him, it would take a divine act to convince him that he was being lied to. A conspiracy theorist that was just shown that their conspiracies were true was the most dangerous type of person. Hampton proved that the night he asked her for the truth in the lounge and she gave it to him. He’d panicked and run and had become more and more withdrawn, at least from her. Where before they could at least speak about work or ship’s business, she’d rarely seen him. The two could possibly be unrelated but given the current circumstances, it was equally possible she at fault for his continued paranoia.

Turbo Lift on the way to Shuttle-Bay
Between the whirring of the turbo lift Ryder could hear his heart beat, his breath and found it matching the rhythm of Casela’s. Everything about this ship was eerie and disturbing and he wondered if they had been left alone for so long because whatever, whoever it was that was causing this horror induced fictitious landscape was no longer on this ship and was already killing the people on thier ship, he hoped, prayed and wished it wasn’t true. “We should finish up here soon and get back, we may be running out of time.” He said finally breaking the melancholy silence.Raauhl, XO
-They’d come to get answers and so far, they had none. Whatever ‘Evil Hampton’ was it was beyond her ability to truly read and comprehend. Much like meeting Q. But there were human type elements to Evil Hampton and then....more. And the longer they were away from their ship, the worse it could get. Durheim and Bog were the best engineers they had other than Hampton, and their Hampton was…lost to the orb. Surda was CoS and they needed her over there for what ever trouble might be released. And Ryder was the XO and Cobb would need him there for whatever appeared next. She on the other hand seemed to be a chew toy for whatever anomalies they encountered. They liked to use her for telepathic torture. She shrugged to herself, if it kept these monstrosities from bother the rest of the crew she’d deal with it. Casela breathed slowly despite the rising tension. “We’ve not heard anything from this Hampton, nor from our Leviathan. I’m not sure there is anything left to learn here. But I feel like we are missing something. Like we’ve focused so much on the horror of the images, we missed the bigger picture. But whatever is coming next, I’d rather be with our crew than over here watching helplessly.”
