Once finished with the XO and cleaned up a bit from her travels, she headed for the Department Head. Last thing she wanted was the Command Staff to be jilted into doing something they didn’t like, because of her. She seriously doubted the man would force training on the CO and XO because of her, but she wasn’t willing to place any bets on it.

Heading to the Security Offices, she stepped in and announced herself to the Ensign at the desk. “Ensign Anders here to check in.” She just wanted to get thru this ordeal, then medical and Psych so she could stretch out on a real bed after a real shower.

The Ensign’s eyes widened and he grinned. “Oh thank the gods you’re here! The chief said I could leave as soon as you showed up!” He got up and led her to Surda’s door, then pressed the chime. “Chief, that Ensign you’ve been waiting for is here!” He then opened the door and waved her through.

Surda looked up as Juliet entered and smiled. “Welcome to my lair.” She knew how people reacted to seeing an Orion, much less an Orion in a Starfleet uniform. She picked up the dried leaves that had been sitting on her desk and swallowed them, then gestured for Juliet to come sit down. “You’re earlier than I expected. Rahuul make you run?” The man certainly knew she had been joking, but he might have decided to keep up the image of the scary CoS.

Juliet had worked with Orion males before. But she’d never worked with a female, much less for one. Thankfully, she’s known a couple and wasn’t intimidated. Perhaps it was also that she had the supervisor by at least a couple inches and several pounds. She knew enough not to let that be her bolster, though. If this woman was full Orion, she could end up on the Chief’s wrong side, quickly. And even if she had no abilities cause of mixed blood, til she knew for sure, physically she wouldn’t write the JG off dismissively.

“No, ma’am. But I didn’t think it would be right that I be known as the one who got the Command Staff punished by the Security Chief.” She smiled, but it was more diplomatic than sincere. “How I’m not interrupting lunch, or anything.” She nodded to where the leaves had been.

Surda grinned. “Just my daily poisons.” She wasn’t even joking there. “Don’t worry about it, Rahuul knows I would never make him train with my people without good reason.” Surda straightened up in her chair and studied Juliet. “So, I’m your new chief. Yes, I am Orion, and yes, I mean that kind of Orion. I joined Starfleet 11 years ago. And yes, the rumors are true, I was once a Pirate in the Orion Syndicate.” Everything people wanted to know in 10 sentences or less. “Tell me a bit about yourself.” She liked to know at least two things about all of her officers.
