USS Leviathan

Kouign Amann/pastry (open to anyone)

(snip)

Quinn handed over another plate with two more kouign amann pastries in front of of Gen, “You can have as many as you want.”

Gen took one in each hand, eating both at the same time.

Quinn looked back at Cobb her eyes twinkling merrily, before she glanced at Casela, “Tell me the story and I will trade a cooking lesson if you want?”

Casela grinned, “Oh I can do better than that.” She walked around behind the counter and over to a access screen. She pulled up the visual record for the CIC. (OOC: It starts here on that thread: https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf1/leviathan/posts/99756/). She nodded to Quinn and let her watch. The transformation in Cobb from troubled and mind racing as he sat in the seat to the Avenging God of Battle was … well Cas was more interested to see how Quinn reacted to that image. Quinn was his Yoeman and Casela felt she had an ally in protecting Cobb in Quinn. And since Quinn was RTF she could show her this as well. (OOC: https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf1/leviathan/posts/100076/ This is the start and it’s long, but SO worth reading)

Casela walked back around the counter and sat back down next to Gen as she ate more of the pastries. She winked at Gen, grinned, and nodded her head at Cobb, who was preening himself.

Gen tilted her head and licked the sticky mess of both confectionary items at once off her hands.

“Truly it was nothing,” Zachariah protested, rolling his eyes at Gen in the hope that she, at least, would be more down to earth about his meagre accomplishments. “In fact compared to the RTF, my part in the mission was easy. Almost…enjoyable, if truth be told.” He laughed and shook his head. “There are many things to be proud of on this fine vessel, with its even finer crew. But I never expected the containment deck and the various anomalies housed there to be one of them!”

Casela nodded in agreement suddenly serious. “Yes there and I think in the stress, fear, and secrecy of the ARU we, as a whole crew, have forgotten that. And that’s not good for anyone.” And her mind was off contemplating ways to fix that. As if she needed more on her plate....

”Peuple are like puzzles.” the girl intoned. ” You need all the bits to make the picture. If one is missing it’s not complete. And the pieces don’t understand how important that are.” she reached for another pastry. ”Or how easy they are lost.” she bit in to the food.

Gen

“Aye, that they are,” Cobb replied, glancing at the Counselor over his third pastry. The girl’s wisdom astounded him almost daily, but there was something deeply unsettling in her words - as if she spoke of things no child, or indeed no living thing ever, should be aware of.

Casela nodded, there was so much more to Gen than just a teenage girl. There was much that she had gone through. Some of it she wouldn’t talk about, and some of it she didn’t understand and couldn’t. But it was coming to the point where Casela was going to have to make her. A ship like Levi couldn’t have unknowns around for long. But more importantly they would get back to starbase eventually. And if Casela and Cobb were going to keep Gen out of the ARU’s hands they had to know what was going on with her.

“But that is why we have counselors, like Casela here. It is their job to help people find those pieces again and try to put them all back together.”

  • Captain Zachariah Cobb

Now it was Casela’s turn to be slightly embarrassed. “I’m just doing my job, Cpt. A fellow counselor told me once, no one is broken, just lost.” And Revna had said that to her when Casela had insisted she was too broken to be put back together. Oh how life comes full circle. Casela glanced at Quinn, “I think I’m going to have another one. They are very good.”

“I like a good puzzle myself, the trickier the better.” Quinn said lightly as she watched Gen eating the pastries. She looked back to Casela and Cobb, “Next breakfast any preferences?” she asked lightly looking back and forth from them, as she plated up the last few pastries. Next time she would make a few dozen for Gen alone, unless the teen-looking individual told her some other ideas of what she wanted instead.

  • Quinn Kindle, Yeoman/RTF

“Well then you have definitely come to the right place,” Cobb winked at Kindle. “This entire ship seems like one big, bloody puzzle at times!”

As for breakfast, Cobb’s mind was still absorbed in stick caramel and sweet sugar and had not yet ventured forth to his next meal.
“Ah lass, you have not let us down yet,” he assured his Yeoman, “I am confident that whatever you bring us will be a feast more than fit for a captain, eh!”

  • Captain Zachariah Cobb

Casela was not letting these two off the hook that easily. “Well Zachariah,” using first names to relax the setting slightly, “Perhaps you could tell Quinn what your favorite breakfast was so far. And why you liked it. Then she can either make your favorite or something new based on what you liked about it. She’s extremely talented.” So now Quinn would know his preferences and he’d have to give her a detailed complement. Casela wondered briefly where she got this penchant for trying to match-make. It wasn’t like she had a lot of experience in personal relationships. Of course what she didn’t know what that Gen had been up to the same thing with Ryder as well.

But she liked Zachariah and Quinn too, and it was too fun watching them skirt around each other.
