Remington had been right to distrust Blair. Blair wasn’t Blair anymore but a telepathic construct created by Sandman to confuse them. Checking the chamber of the revolver would show 5 bullets and 1 empty shell casing matching the wound on Eugene. Blood and tissue was found in the study, not the theatre room. With the correct information gathered the cards were placed on the mantel in the Hall. Then, the away team’s minds went peacefully blank, having been released from the powerful mental suggestion of Sandman.

The remaining members of the away team were now safely in sickbay. Readings from the biobeds showed that the electrical impulses caused by the neurotransmitter were no longer pulsing at the same rhythms. The away team was no long telepathically linked together.

Doctor Fey instructed her team to go ahead and start the process of removing the neural emitters and slowly waking them back up. She also had the staff prepare small stasis cookie boxes as she was sure they were going to be hungry and lacking glucose. Meanwhile she finished working on the burns the counselor has suffered and asked the nurse to send for Ryder and Gen to come visit. “Casela, I’d like for you to stay put for observation for a little while. Ryder and Gen will be on the way shortly but for now just relax. “

Casela nodded. She would ask Fey again if the away team made it back, but she was pretty sure the Doctor wasn’t going to tell her anything. She laid still, not giving Fey any reason to restrain her. She slips into a Vulcan meditation rhythm. In this manor she can stay still for hours.

Eugene, Blair, and Potter are all dead. Autopsies show their cause of death to be some form of extreme electric overload to the brains. The other away team members will begin to wake slowly. Headaches (of varying degrees), low blood sugar, the beginnings of dehydration, and mental strain are all symptoms they have at differing levels of severity.
