Shuttle Bay - Valkyrja

Having taken the counselors advice, Bog found himself back in the cargo bay some what later than expected. He had spent most of the morning helping clear up a problem third watch had discovered. It took him most of the day to finish writing the specifications for the new warp nacelles. He had seriously considered raising them higher on the space frame to better protect them from ground fire , but in the end he decided the re-engineering required might well compromise the proven survivability of the frame.
The original engineers had designed the little ship with multiple hard points to allow then to be redials adapted to special missions, he extended to use all but two in the refit. As the day turned to the night watch the little Tellarite initiated the sequence that would replicate the new nacelles. The engineer watched the new framework that would house the warp coils materialize. No joy, no excitement just a look of focus. Agin he would inspect the new components, in particular the transporter welds that made them one.
One buy one the major components of the warp drive began to appear. First the coils, then the conduits and most of the other auxiliary components. With each new component he stopped and scanned the work. Not that he didn’t trust the work, but replication errors did happen, and on the verge of paranoia there was the possibility of sabotage.
Tomorrow he would install the new warp cores and mini fusion reactors, building the power distribution system in from the new nacelles. Step buy step.

Casela walked into the shuttle bay. It was her 4 hour break between her regular duty shift and RTF training. She was tired. Not just mentally from all the work, but physically. She really needed to go see McHarrie or one of the other doctors about it. She was carrying two fresh cups of coffee and handed one to Bog as she entered. “Well that actually looks like progress. You managed to make less of a mess today, Tellek.” She grins good naturedly. She had been worried when he first came on board that the famous Tellerite habit of trading insults and fighting would cause more problems on the ship. However, he’d made quite the name for himself and the engineering staff liked working with him. Many also appreciated his gruffness, even if they didn’t always get his humor.
Lt. Synthi-er, CNS“She looked better yesterday than when she was in your loving care, in fact a drone would have been in better shape.” Truth was He was not exactly sure how she kept her in one piece and flew her back. The deeper he dug the worse the damage he found. The Counselor was an impressive pilot buy all accounts.
Casela smirked, “Well the old girl and I have been through a lot together. She deserves a mani/pedi.” Casela cackles a little at the absurdity of it. That was something she never indulged in. Total. waste. of. time. Her voice is far away, remembering. “We ran the gauntlet on our way back from the last one. Barely managed to land her right side up when we got home. Friends of mine got her impulse working just in time for me to meet the transport to the star base.” She ran her hand over the frame. It had been Noa’s fault that she had to go back, alone, with no back up. Triton had been gone and that was bridge she had burned even if they had been close. Of course that’s how she did most things. That time had been worse, but Valkyrja had carried her home to Norda III. Maybe she should have let the old girl be retired to some cemetery space dock.
“The new warp coils are installed, they are of a different configuration, but should maintain the higher warp capabilities of the newest type eight specifications.” The frame work for the new nacelles looked radically different even to a novice.
Casela looked over the new warp coils, noticing the strange configuration, but finding it eloquent. After Bog left she downloaded the specs from his work station to a PaDD. She was no engineer, but she had a basic knowledge, like any Star Fleet officer. She spent two hours going over the specs of the new system. Then after RTF training she returned to finish. She may never be able to really repair her if something went pear shaped, but she would know enough to maintain her on her own if necessary.
After exchanging more pleasantries and seeking his own bunk, Bog would find himself at his podium the next day, supervising the creation of the warp cores, fusion reactors and plasma manifolds for the EPS. Taking a cue from the Brazen class starships he had designed a two core system, each core nestled in order of its respective warp drive, with duel reactors as backup and stand buy power. Each drive assembly was fed buy a primary and secondary manifold as well as a primary and secondary backup that traversed the ship. Plasma storage pods were hidden in spaces threw out the hull to provide limited back up and cold start capabilities.
Tomorrow’s schedule included the re-fitting of the sunlight propulsion, atmospheric thrusters, anti-graves and maneuvering thrusters.
Bog the tinker
Four hours before her next shift started Casela finally called it a night. She had to sleep at some point and studying schematics when she was over tired wouldn’t help her take care of her shuttle. She reminded herself to ask Zachariah what an engineer would want as a gift. Bog had been assigned to this project, but he was going above the required work to make Valkyrja, and herself, space worthy and safe. And though most wouldn’t know it about her, she always showed her appreciation for a job well done and more importantly for the assistance any friend had given her. Despite those friends being very very few in number.
Lt. Synthi-er, CNSBouncing from handholding one of his team leaders threw a complicated but routine maintenance routine and writing the SOP for replicating the sud-light drive components in place it was agin into his night the computer finished compiling the programs.
As they began to appear Bog was looking over the plans he had drawn up for the primary defensive systems. As much of the components as he could install before rescinding the old girl just made his work all the easier.
Bog techno wizard
Casela was done with RTF training for the night and entered the shuttle bay to go over what Bog had done for the day. Her intention to know what the Tellarite was talking about when they discussed the shuttle. She was surprised to find him still in the shuttle bay. In true Tellarite fashion, Casela began the conversation with a complaint. “Really, Mr. Bog, this is taking far too long. It is really inconvenient that I can’t just fly my shuttle around whenever I want.” To her eyes Tellek looked as tired as she felt. She looked up something on her PaDD and sent the file to his work station. “Perhaps if you ate decently you wouldn’t be up so late with a sluggish mind.” The file was a replicator meal of raw fruits and vegetables native to Tellar Prime. These were a side for a Tellarite delicacy of canine. These were not already programed to the ship’s replicators and she had gone to the effort to research it and have it added to the selections available.
Lt. Synthi-erLooking from his work to the new window that appeared, “Are you trying to make me fat?!”Bog growled. The fact that the Counselor had downloaded his specs hadn’t escaped him.” Do the new warp drives fit your requirements?” Porting the new power system and proposed shield systems to her PADD.
Casela shrugged dropping the good natured arguing, “I assume so. It’s your area of expertise. I just want to make sure I can follow along when you talk about it.”
After their pleasant repartee he retired to dreams of shield emitters and English butlers.
After Bog left, Casela went back to examing the newly installed systems from the day before. The elegance of it was astounding. She really needed to get Cobb down there to look at the work Bog was doing. He’d appreciate it.
The morning found him on the holo deck running simulations on his twin generator regenerative shield design assisted buy a crudely rendered hologram with an English accent. Wile that evening saw the implementation of the design. The twin generators fed into duplicate conduits that would feed the shuttles emitters. The shielding began also to appear, sheathing systems with emission absorbing materials.
Again he used the time required for the computer to compile the designs to the replicator buffers to begin design the next fazes of the ships reincarnation. Hull plating, shield, phaser and holo emitters that would hang from her frame.
Bog
Casela had no appointments that morning, so she found herself entering the holodeck. “Mr. Bog I have a free morning. What can I do to assist you?”
