Posted by… suppressed (2) by the Post Ghost! 👻Hampton grinned at the sandman, “Well, if you are going to make a habit of cutting down the number of suspects for me, you’re hardly motivating me to play along.” He stood up. His voice a low growl. “I have spent my life in pain far greater than you could ever inflict. Loneliness, depression and the feeling of complete futility are much more poignant than a quick neck snapping. I may be dead in an hour, but I will not spend it jumping through your hoops you pathetic creature.” His eyes narrowed. “If this is my time, I’d rather be killed standing on my feet than living on my knees.”
Hampton looked at Potter’s corpse. A new feeling entered him, accompanying the frustration and anger, satisfaction. Staring down at the body, Hampton realized something he dare not admit to anyone around him. He was glad the ensign was dead. He looked back the Sandman. “You are going to have to try your routine on some of the other puppets around here, this one doesn’t mind seeing other’s have their strings cut.” While his face remained narrowed and serious, a dark gleam had taken residence in his eyes.
Lt. William Hampton- CE
Goatman advanced upon Hampton reaching out clawed fingers to grasp at his throat and pull him closer. An unholy rasping breath coming from him. Then suddenly he screams in a rage and disappears.
Sandman
With a strong sharp pain to his head, Hampton’s vision blacked out and then he found himself on a hard cold floor, a huge amount of weight on top of him. Between the legs and arms of his fellow away team members he could see the bridge, and hear the subtle hum of his shield. He was burried under the rest of the away team. Once he pulled himself from under the dog pile he would notice he was still on the bridge of the Einstein. Some of the screens were working properly and others were glitching horribly. The klaxons were flashing red and yellow and alarms were going off. In the distance the screaming of a very angry child could be heard having a tantrum.
SandmanOn the Einstein’s bridge came a rhythmic taping sound, a sound some how familiar, fallowed buy a sound much like a baby’s rattle.
Ape ring in front of the lift doors was a tall slender man in an archaic black suit with a white shirt. He stood with a cane pinched between his arm and body as he brought an amber vial to his bearded face and tiled it back, in fact he tiled back his whole head and swallowed. With a grimace his hazel eyes surveyed the scene. ‘ Sleeping on the Job I see.” Then with the familiar tapping noise he walked the the cabinet contains the emergency medical supplies to retrieve a medical tricorder. And began to scan the nearest member of the boarding party.“ So your just playing possum. What are your symptoms Leuitenant.” Demanded the EMH as began to scan Hampton as well.
EMH House
Rage, pure, unadulterated rage, was all Hampton felt. He had been manipulated, put into a game for someone’s entertainment, and played with. His fellow away team members had done him no good, and he had failed to stop whatever had put him to sleep.
He looked at the EMH, “Computer deactivate emergency medical hologram.” The EMH would surely revive the rest of the crew, Hampton couldn’t have that.
His left fist clenched, his right hand went to his holster, where his phaser was still placed. His eyes narrowed and a massive scowl was on his face. The sound of a child crying simple fed his rage, he set his phaser to kill. He looked down at the rest of the away team, no time to revive them, they would surely stop him. He turned and headed toward the sound of the screams.
Somebody was going to die.

OOC: (fixing the split)
After exiting the hatch, magboots engaged Casela turned, and using the outside access panel she closed the door and locked it. She moved to the hatch, opened it and dropped into Einstein. Psilosynine, a telepathic neurotransmitter for the brain. Doc Fey would have her hands full fixing that in a group of non-telepaths. Korvough should be fine, maybe. Vulcan’s brains didn’t use psilosynine. But for some reason Hampton was waking up. She had theories but no time now. If Hampton woke up, he’d be pissed and kill Sandman. Casela intended to make sure he got the opportunity.
She moved towards the science labs looking for Fenrir. She found him still scanning the pieces of the prison. “Come on Fenrir.” She put the pieces into his cargo deparment. She moved silently with him to the nearest transporter. Fenrir’s head cocked to one side. “Casela is not returning to the shuttle?” She shook her head. “No Fenrir.” She ran her hands over the console and he was gone, and reappeared on Kraken. Casela turned and listened.
“Some one is having a very big tantrum.” She moved out into the corridor following the sound, at the same time being sure to listen for Hampton, should he be awake. He’d shoot her.
Lt. Synthi-er, RTF (always has to be the martyr)As the doors closed behind Hampton the EMH came back on line, casting a glare at the lift. “ That was rude” with a shrug he returns to his patients ‘You would think he was me.”
EMH House
The crying was coming from a few decks down, Hampton could tell, he had left the bride via a Jefrries tube and had begun to do a deck by deck sweep of the child. He moved quickly and angrily, like a predator stalking his prey. With each cry his anger intensified. His thoughts turned to his time on Leviathan, they way he was treated, talked down to, belittled, taken for granted, ignored, ostracized by people who he had hoped to be friends with. The anger from those memories and thoughts simply added to the melting pot of rage that was blazing from his eyes.
The screams were the loudest on deck 4, and he went kicked the door to the Jeffries tube down, he could tell by the clarity that he was on the right floor. Without really thinking about it, he turned the phaser up to full power, a shot at that power would disintegrate whatever was crying. He rounded a corner and stopped abruptly. There before him was a child, crying. His instinct told him to fire immediately, but he wanted to relish the moment. He held up the weapon, aiming it at the child. “Tick Tock, your life is on the clock.” He hummed, and then let out an evil cackle that was not dissimilar to that of the sandman’s. He waited for the child to react, he wanted this putrid being to know who was killing him, and he wanted the kid to feel the fear of death before Hampton delivered it.
Lt. William Hampton- CE
From his position, sitting cross-legged on the floor, the child looked up and locked red, fury-filled eyes onto Hampton.
“You didn’t play,” he admonished the engineering chief. “You’re a spoilsport. Do you know what I do to spoilsports?”There was a flash and the child disappeared. Then from behind him, Hampton suddenly heard a voice in his ear. “The last person who didn’t play my game had his eyes turned into dice and his skin turned into a deck of cards. Now what could I make from you, Mr Hampton?”
- Sandman
Hampton eyes narrowed, he should have just shot, ‘oh well’ he thought to himself. He turned around. His eyes still burning. “I have a few suggestions for what I can make from you.” He said with a smirk, rage still powering his every action, “Like I told you earlier, there is no pain you can inflict on me which I have not already felt. I am a man with no friends, no future, and nothing to lose.” He smiled at the being. “Something tells me that if I shoot you nothing is going to happen.”
Lt. William Hampton-CE
Casela was making a deck by deck sweep as well, coming from below. She heard the screaming as she made her way onto deck four from the port aft jefferies tube. And suddenly it stopped. ‘Aw crap.’ she thought. She had her Mark VII but she didn’t intend to use it. Maybe as flash grenade as a distraction. She moved silently towards were she heard the screaming from in time to hear Hampton taunt Sandman. A child? No that thing was NOT a child. She would NOT make that mistake. She crouched low, waiting. To control that many minds, Sandman was a powerful psychic, and she’d have one chance to distract him and let Hampton do whatever it was he was going to do. The child was slightly solid....she cast around and moved back down the corridor the way she came searching the rooms. She found what she was looking for and moved back to wait.
Lt. Synthi-er, RTF“You have no friends?” the child mocked. “Maybe that’s because you’re such a SPOILSPORT!” he roared into Hampton’s ear at a volume that could perforate an ear drum. “Nobody likes a spoilsport, Mr Hampton. So, I’m going to teach you how to play. If you can strike me, then you earn a point. If I can strike you, then I earn one. The first person to ten is the winner. You like that game?”
As if to prove his point, the child’s icy hand pummelled into the engineering chief’s side.
- Sandman
Hampton staggered back from the punch, his eyes were ringing and he felt as though his side had been submerged into an ice bath. He realized for the first time he had no plan, he cursed himself, his anger had blinded to him the idea that maybe this being wouldn’t be so easy to kill. His mind began to clear, it was do or die. The child’s punch confirmed he was corporeal at least some of the time, Hampton wondered if he was vulnerable to phaser fire. He needed a strategy. He grinned at the being, and then turned and ran down the corridor. While he was running he looked down at his wrist and began to punch in commands to the bot on the bridge, he had an idea.
Lt. William Hampton- CE
The child immediately began to run after Hampton.
“Spoilsport, spoilsport,” it mocked him in an eerie, singsong voice, as it closed in on the retreating engineer. Then as if someone had suddenly disabled the environmental controls, the temperature on the bridge plummeted as Sandman roared out “SPOOOOOOIL. SPOOOOOOOORT!!!!!”Casela followed, watching Sandman. He was corporeal when he touched Hampton. She started timing it. It was a cycle, it didn’t appear Sandman conscioiusly controlled it. But when he got mad he fully formed. When Hampton took off he screamed becoming solid. She tracked them, following silently behind. She saw Hampton mess with the control on his wrist, and prayed he had a plan. They arrived at their destination and Casela slipped out of another Jeffries tube access panel, behind Sandman. He was was going for another punch, if she timed it just right, the small object she found earlier would hurdle through the hair, beaning him in the back of the head. Annoying but not deadly. He wanted to play games. “TAG!”
Lt. Synthi-er, CNSPositioned behind Hampton, the child was about to launch another attack when suddenly his hands raised to his head as if to shield from a physical blow.
“Hey! Not fair!”Before he could move, Casela tossed another object at him, beaning him in the wrist. A purely aggrivating attack, meant to engrage the brat.
Then, turning those red eyes on Synthi-er, the visual illusion of the child became jarringly at odds with the menacing, demonic voice as it roared “YOU WANT TO PLAY TOO? THE MORE THE MERRIER. THE MORE FOR ME TO BEAT!”
She laughed manically. Oh this was going to hurt, she PUSHED with all the psychic talent she had, her voice ringing in his head, ‘Baby can’t win this game.’ She glanced at Hampton as he kept going to the bridge, “I’ll keep him distracted as long as I can.” She wasn’t sure how long that would be. But hopefully it would be however long he needed to get to the bridge and do his thing.
The child vanished into the jefferies tube, his head occasionally poking back out to glare at the crew before disappearing again. Then without warning, Synthi-er would be overcome with a powerful mental image of Ryder Rauuhl, alone in a darkened room, screaming and writhing in unimaginable pain…
- Sandman
She would point a half second before to where ever Sandman would appear. It took all her mental discapline to track the thing. It was unlike anything else she had encountered and it was bloody strong. “Baby isn’t good at hiding!” She taunted and pointed again before he appeared. And then the image along with the pain hit her and took her to her knees. It was so REAL. She missed him the next time he popped out. ‘It’s NOT real.’ She forced her eyes open and felt it, what ever it was. “Go ahead, kill him, it saves me the trouble,” she taunted Sandman. Hampton better hurry up. This thing was a whole lot stronger than her. The screaming of the image, heart rending. She let it wash over her and she turned pointing at the access panel behind her as Sandman popped out. “Found you.”
Lt. Synthi-er, RTFWilliam rushed to the bot on the bridge, he noticed Synthi-er go down, but didn’t stop to help. Part of him truly enjoyed seeing her in pain. He snickered slightly to himself. It was just him and whatever demonic creature this was. Clearly he was not fully corporeal, as debris had hit him. He quickly began working on the bot, taking it apart and reprogramming certain algorithms. In a matter of minutes the forcefield was reprogrammed to block energy bursts. He smiled, picking it up and throwing it over his back. He smiled and raced off the bridge.
Rushing into the Einstein’s main engineering he grabbed a plasma inverter and laser scanner. He quickly began to tinker with the two, and after a dozen minutes, finished the device. It was a device designed to give off a plasma shock. Hampton raced back the bridge, located what corridor synthi-er was on with the internal sensors, and raced back to deck 4. Generator on his back, phaser in one hand, and device in the other, for good measure he grabbed the Irida’s baton stick and strapped it to his uniform. He took the turbolift, and stepping out he saw Synthi-er, looking worse for wear. He laughed, taking genuine pleasure in her beaten appearance. “I’M BACK!!” HE shouted gleefully, waiting for the being to show himself again, Hampton would wait for the being to turn solid, use the plasma shock to momentarily disable him, and blast him into smithereens.
Lt. William Hampton- CE
From within the tube came a singular, anguished scream, followed by an auditory unleashing of hell itself. Bangs, crashes, electrical pops and crackles - it sounded as if the child was tearing the ship apart from the inside with its very hands.
Simultaneously, in Synthi-er’s mind’s eye, the vision of Rauuhl would disappear, to be replaced by one of Gen. Locked in the same room, her clothes torn and bloodied, her skin covered in fresh bruises, the young girl cried out in a pitiful voice, “You were meant to protect me, Casela. Why did you not protect me?”
At the same time, Hampton would be assailed by his own image - his father, not dead but a prisoner to the Jem’Hadar, begging and pleading, snivelling and pathetic, for his captor to give him another vial of the ketracel-white…
And the child, so proud of the cruelty he had unleashed, could not resist taking one quick peek…
