It felt like a decade since Kara Nakuto had stepped onto a functioning engineering deck - and the one belonging to the USS Leviathan was incredibly impressive indeed. It was clear that whoever was in command of this domain cared deeply for the machines and the technologies within these walls, although the obvious yawning from a few of the engineers as she passed by suggested that perhaps the same care was not extended to the personnel.

Still, she was eager to meet Lt William Hampton. The half-Klingon had read his file and particularly the section on his advancements in Starfleet weaponry. That he was, like her, a survivor of the Dominion war had also not passed her by. So it was a knock borne of Klingon strength and bolstered by human enthusiasm that pounded against the Engineering Chief’s door that afternoon…

“Enter!” A voice rang out from the office.

The door opened to reveal a tall, half-Klingon female, dressed in a civilian uniform of black vest top and trousers and solid, deck-pounding boots. Marching straight up to the CE, she thrust out a hand and roared, “Captain Kara Nakuto, at your service.” Then, with a sigh, added, “Sorry, former captain Kara Nakuto. Still at your service, or rather, on the periphery of your service and really just stealing your supplies for my own projects,” she concluded with a roaring laugh.

William Hampton stood up and simply glared at the half-Klingon as she offered her hand and shouted at him. He shook nonetheless. Taking his seat once more behind his desk he waited for Nakuto to finish her spiel. He looked not amused by her jokes. “Do you think you are funny?” He asked sternly, slightly tilting his head inquisitively. “Do you really think shouting at someone two feet away from you is a good idea?”
