The Bridge was relatively quiet, at least for a ship the size of the Dresden. The only comms traffic was a dialogue between the officer on Communications duty and the red-haired Bajoran he had met the night before who was likewise on Communications duty on the station. Speaking in a low voice, he said =/\= Well, I probably could get away after my watch is over. But you’d have to make it worth my while. =/\= and there was a giggle from the other end and a woman’s voice said =/\= Oh, I think I could prob- =/\= and then the communications panel alerted to a priority message coming through.=/\= USS Dresden. This is Star Fleet Command, Admiral Tulo’t’s office. The Admiral wishes to speak with Captain Holloway immediately, Priority One. =/\= The Ensign stammered and blushed from the top of his to hie toes. =/\= Y-y-y-y-yes! I m-m-m-mean -=/\= and he took a deep breath. =/\= Star Fleet Command, USS Dresden. Patching you through to the Captain now. =/\= and he tapped some commands into the interface. He then activated the ship’s comms. =/\= Captain Holloway, Ma’am. Admiral Tulo’t on comms for you. Priority One. =/\= and he sent the signal to the ready room.

It had been an uneventful morning. Ever since they had been scheduled back on board, the Dresden had been returning to its daily rhythm. However, with a faster restocking than anticipated, there was nothing currently scheduled for the ship, and the crew had fallen into a peaceful lull, enjoying a few short days of on board R&R.
Molly was sure that at some point, something would fall on their plate, and she had a feeling that it would be sooner rather than later. And sure enough, when the officer’s voice had come in through the comms, Holloway wondered if that was it.
Tapping a button on her desk, Molly replied back to the Bridge. =/\= Acknowledged. Thank you. =/\= Before turning to face her terminal and tapping the command that would open the commlink and allow for the call to be established.
“Admiral Tulo’t, I presume. How can I be of assistance?”

The Vulcan Admiral nodded once slightly and said “Captain Holloway. First, I extend to you my congratulations on your promotion to Commanding Officer. I was looking forward to utilizing you and the Dresden in the near future… but alas, that is not to be.” and a small arch of the eyebrow was the only indication of the Admiral’s displeasure in the statement.
Molly nodded in both acknowledgement and thank you, as an eyebrow raised quizzically at the Admiral’s words.
“The Dresden is hereby reassigned to Admiral Hallsley of Star Fleet Special Projects Division. He is a good man, Captain, but far smarter than he comes across. Mind yourself when dealing with him. He will be arriving on board the Dresden in one hour to brief you and your Command team on your mission. He drinks single malt scotch, if you wish to make an impression.” the Admiral said qith a slight hitch in her voice. “Any questions, Captain?”

Why would I want to make an impression? The thought crossed Molly’s mind, but it never left her lips. Instead, the question was a different one. “Special Projects?” It was definitely weird, but with Holloway’s close relationship with Intel, she couldn’t help but wonder if the assignment had their hand in it. “What does the Special Projects Division want with us?” There was a pause, as it occurred to the Dresden’s CO that the dry question might be seen as somewhat rude. “If you don’t mind me asking, that is…”

Tulo’t inclined her head slightly in the Vulcan approximation of a chuckle. “Not at all, Captain. Admital Hallsley has need of a vessel that is ready for immediate deployment, and capable of dealing with an unknown situation. The Dresden firs both criteria and is the closest vessel. Therefore, he asked me to… ‘loan you out to him’… I think is how he phrased it. For what purpose, Ii honestly do not know.” and she straightened herself and looked squarely at Holloway.
“This was a courtesy call, nothing more Captain. I knew you were expecting orders from my office; I simply wanted to eliminate any potential confusion. Good luck, Captain. We will meet upon your return.” and the comms went dark.

Molly nodded. “Yes, Ma’am. Thank you.” Even though Holloway’s tone was nothing but polite, the Vulcan’s phrasing left her wondering if she had somehow upset the Admiral. She reminded herself that the woman was Vulcan, so there was really no telling.
As the call was ended, Molly laid back in her seat. She wasn’t sure she liked the Dresden being ‘on loan’ to someone else, but those were their orders and it was their duty to follow them. She was sure Admiral Hallsley would contact them soon enough.
