As the Dresden sat in dock at Starbase One, a request to board came through from a member of the Trill Science Ministry. Seeing nothing odd about the request and noticing the prestigious organization that the man was a part of, it was likely that whoever was manning the transporters initiated the beaming sequence as routine.A middle-aged man materialized on the transporter pad, dressed in a fitted white tunic that extended to his knees and with his hands clasped behind his back. His bald head allowed for an uninterrupted view of the trill markings that snaked up his neck and temples.
The mouse-faced man peered down his nose at the officer who was there to greet him. “My name is Cyon Cet. Please escort me to Renveer. I have something that belongs to him.”
(Cyon Cet, Trill Science Ministry)
OOC: Hey all! This downtime between main sims is a great opportunity for us to do some cool side-sim threads that focus on character development! Some of my favorite Star Trek episodes are the ones that deal with morals, ethics, and cultural differences. This thread will aim to explore the trill and their crazy biology/culture! Anyone and everyone is welcome to join, and I hope to keep the thread as open IC as possible. If anyone wants to be the one manning the transporter, feel free to jump in!
TRIGGER WARNING: Suicidal ideation.
NE Brown had to go to medical due to suspected food poisoning and Stores had stepped in to relive him until a relief could arrive. After the Trill materialized and made his speech, he eyed him suspiciously. “Sorry sir, I can’t exactly do that, but I can let him know he has a guest and ask some one to escort you.” Not waiting for a response he keyed a non emergency request for security and called the XO. =^= Commander Renveer, You have a ‘guess’ from the Trill Science Ministry, should I send him up? =^=.
“Some one will be along to either take to some where you can wait or take you up.”
Clinton”Stores”Reed, Supercargo.
There was a very slight narrowing of Cyon’s eyes and his thin lips pressed together a tad tighter. But he stepped off the platform stiffly and stood at the base of the steps, waiting for his escort to arrive. “Thank you,” he offered curtly. The man was impatient, nervous even. But not in an insidious way. Just… agitated.
In his office, Renveer received Stores’ communication and blinked in surprise. Why would a member of the Trill Science Ministry be here? He pulled up the list of approved boardings for the day to see if he recognized the name. Indeed, he did. The color drained from Renveer’s face and he sat at his desk, staring at the screen with his mouth open.
A moment later, Renveer responded to Stores over the comm, his voice a bit shaky. =^= Renveer to Reed. I’ll be there shortly. =^=
Cyon raised an eyebrow and peered over at Stores. “I thought you said I would be going to him.”
(Lt. Cmdr. Renveer, XO)
As if on (slightly delayed) cue, a pair of security officers came around the corner into the transporter room. Stores might recognize them as NE’s Braxton and Heimdel. Braxton stayed near the entrance, while Heimdel moved towards Stores and the Dresden’s newest guest. In her typically bright tone, the tall woman politely greeted the pair. “Hullo Stores; how can we help you?” Barely pausing to hear his response, she turned towards the Trill and greeted him in turn. “Welcome to the Dresden, Sir. Do you need an escort?”
-Security officers Braxton & Heimdel
“Apparently the X is on the way down.” Stores supplied. Eyeing the Trill. “I can offer you refreshment wait.” He might not be crew, but the Captain would have his hide if he was rude to a guest.
Clinton”Stores”Reed, Supercargo
Cet held up a hand at Stores’ offer. “No, thank you.” He stated. He peered at Ensign Heimdel out of the corner of his eye. “Apparently that won’t be necessary.”
Lieutenant Commander Renveer walked briskly through the doors to the transporter room, his eyes wide and unmoving from the other trill man. Ignoring the other officers in the room, Renveer walked right up to Cet and extended a hand, which the other man accepted. Renveer didn’t let go of the man’s hand as he leaned in close and the two exchanged words in a whisper. Although impossible to distinguish what exactly was being said, Cet’s voice was obviously agitated.
With a shake of his head, Renveer stepped back. “Ensign Heimdel, please treat Doctor Cet as a distinguished civilian guest and see that he is able to leave promptly when he is ready this evening.” The executive officer spun on his heel and walked out the door.
“Of course, Sir.” NE Heimdel nodded politely at the XO’s request.
Cet moved to follow him in protest. “I’m not here for some tour of the ship, Renveer!” But the doors to the transporter room closed, leaving Cet with the three Ensigns once again. His nostrils flared as he crossed his arms obstinately. “I’m not leaving until he talks with me further.”
(Lt. Cmdr. Renveer, XO)
As the Trill moved towards the door and the departing XO, NE Braxton stiffened; preparing to move quickly in defense of the officer if needed. He relaxed as the doors closed, but kept a watchful eye on the guest; drawing further contrast between the tall, pale Heimdel and the short, rugged-looking Braxton.
“ Shall I have them bring you a chair or would you prefer to wait in the VIP lounge?” Stores said dryly, rude no but he wasn’t going to brown nose any one, especially non crew.
Would you like that refreshment now?’’Clinton”Stores”Reed,Supercargo
Cet sighed in frustration. “The lounge would be preferred,” he said in a huff. “He’ll be back to speak with me eventually.” The trill man looked to Ensign Heimdel. “If you’ll escort me to this lounge I’d appreciate it.” He was obviously in a bad mood, and seemed out of sorts from being dismissed by Renveer. But Cet was still trying to be polite, even if he gave off the impression that he had a little bit of a superiority complex.

‘‘I’ll reserve a guest suit just in case” Stores said. It wasn’t in his nature not to poke the bear…
Clinton”Stores”Reed, Supercargo
Heimdel, playing the role of diplomat; quickly interjected before Stores could further rile the man up. “Right this way, Sir! We have a lovely guest lounge that can accommodate you. Do you have any effects that you need brought along? Ensign Braxton can collect those for you.”
As her back was turned to the Trill man, Heimdel shot a quick grin at Stores before leading the man down the hall. Braxton quickly gathered Dr. Cet’s effects (if any; making a quick scan with a tricorder) and followed; pausing at the door to wag his finger at Stores. A hint of a grin flashed on the dour man’s face before he left; clearly they found Stores’ antics amusing - though they couldn’t show that in front of the Dresden’s guest.
Stores winked at the two officers and returned to waiting for Browns replacement so he could get back to his work.
Quietly, so as not to be overheard by Dr. Cet, NE Braxton commed Renveer. =/\=Sir, we’re escorting Dr. Cet to the guest lounge now. We’ll hold him there until you request otherwise; and we can prepare quarters for him on your order.=/\=
Renveer’s voice came over the comm, his tone flat. “I don’t anticipate that Dr. Cet will stay the night. And if he insists on it, please escort him off the ship at 20:00. =^=
Heimdel led Dr. Cet to a nearby room that served as a guest lounge for arriving passengers. It was a simple yet nicely appointed room; complete with various couches and chairs. Along one side of the room was a counter with a replicator for refreshments, and one wall had a viewscreen that was currently displaying the Dresden’s exterior view; Starbase One and its swarming ships presenting a unique sight.
“Refreshments, Sir?”
-Security officers Braxton & Heimdel
Clinton”Stores”Reed, Supercargo
Cet nodded. “Tea, please. Any kind will do.” He looked around the waiting area, his expression unimpressed. But he settled in one of the chairs and looked to the security officers. “Please, tell me. What are you impressions of Renveer? He recently became executive officer, yes? Did he earn that promotion? Has he been successful in fulfilling its duties since the assignment?” His tone was quizzical, but also cynical… as if expecting the answer to reflect negatively on the other trill.
