USS Dresden

Exhausted...

Posted by Ensign Clinton Reed (Operations Officer) in Exhausted…
Stores stepped off the lift and walked the length of the engineering deck, passing threw the engineering quarters that made up ‘ships control’ to the ladder leading to the mango ace hatch that concealed the ‘crows nest’.

Even working on the overhaul and refit, he hadn’t figured out why this half size enlisted quarters existed, as his investigations showed that the other Maverick claw ships lacked it. On all her sisters it was simply a maintenance closet, adjacent to where the main plasma conduit split to join the warp pylons. Ducking the conduit chaise just inside the door way, he made his way to the replicator and began to strip, leaving his boots, and emptying his pockets into them, his clothing was sent to reclamation. The hour and a half he had spent passed out gave him the luxury of being able to take another shower before crawling into his rack and passing out.

Stores woke with a start, laying there he listened to the dark untold he realized he heard the antimatter containment test sequence. His planet side companions had once described it as a swarm of giant and angry bees. =^= computer, time=^= he spoke, his voice raspy. =^=zero three hundred thirty three hundred hours thirty three seconds=^= came the computers over enthusiastic reply. Over twelve hours, he had been unconscious.

Testing the containment system meant Hammor intended to start fueling operations during Alpha shift. That would put us plus fifty some odd hours before we left dock.

Getting up, =^=lights, sunrise gradient=^=, Stores made his way across the small rook to the replicator, =^=uniform=^= to which the replicator materialized a fresh Eva compression suit and coverall in the classic brown and tan of the merchant marine. Pulling out the clothes and starting to pull on the body glove he was surprised when his request for coffee was denied. Some one had made good on the science Chiefs orders, and knew he wouldn’t comply. Grinning he thought better of just putting the replicator in diagnostic mode and hand imputing the recipe for Isaac’s. brew. Instead =^=High tea=^= was his order, and in moments he retrieved the tea service he had ordered for the XO six months ago. Caring it to his desk, he pushed aside the PPADs and porter himself a cup, a splash of cream and a lump of sugar for good measure.

Setting down with the hit beverage he absently began looking for his report, remembering that Hammor had it. Shrugging he then reached for the previous days report and opens a Chanel to the star-base so as to reconstruct the missing files. To his surprise the report had been finished and filed, with the signature Dresden.

Now his curiosity was sparked and he activated his work space to see exactly what was going on, finding a letter releasing him from his employment early and returning him to the Dresden crew roster. Curiouser and curiouser he checked his accounts to see that he had been paid in full, and that the payment he had made was verified and the project would be moved from it’s anchorage to the moorings.

Stores took a moment to compose a thank you letter, as well as order gifts to pay favors he had drawn. He also pulled the trigger on a special few gifts as well.

Seeing his work done for him, he took time to check the cargo manifest and shipping orders to see where we were in restock. Hammor had them scheduled to be fuel, armed and loaded buy zero six hundred tomorrow. It was ambitious but doable. He knew that the shipwrights and armorers were scheduled to be done buy this evening as well.

Having drank the pot of tea, Stores put on his goggles and keyed the tri-corder to life . Seeing that it was nearly zero five hundred, he emptied his boots back into his pockets and placed the tea service back into the replicator. And headed out to check on his ship.
