The Captain’s monitor inside her ready room beeped with an incoming communication.

It was 0800 sharp when the Ready Room’s doors slid open to allow Molly to enter. Her plans had been to head to the replicator, get some coffee, open her messages and see what was in store for the day. She had never expected not being able to even get to the replicator as the first thing her ears picked up when doors opened was the insistent beeping of an incoming call.

She sighed, turning on her terminal without even sitting down and with the tap of a button taking the comm.

IC: The image of an older admiral with snow white gray hair, and smile lines around his mouth that gave way his age , appeared on her monitor. “Captain Holloway, I am Admiral Whaley. I hope you’ve got a good footing with your new position because I am sending you out on a mission. Congratulations, by the way. There was a lot of debate regarding your assignment, but in the end, I think the best officer won out.”

Molly wasn’t one to forget faces. Especially when the face in question was the one of the man that had given her the command of the Turing alongside her promotion to Captain. A few years had gone by since their last interaction, and it took a moment for Holloway to place the Admiral’s face when he came on the screen, but recognition came with a soft smile on her lips.

“Thank you, Sir.” She managed to utter. If there was something she had remembered Whaley for was a rather straightforward nature, and for a moment Molly wondered if he had recognized her at all. Her mind wondered how many people Admirals promoted on a regular basis and how many of those were captains. “I would be lying if I said I wasn’t expecting a new assignment shortly. Thanks to our new Operations Chief, we are ready to depart slightly earlier than scheduled, so I we’re all set and ready to go.”
