It was the day after his arrival, and the new Ops Chief was already slammed. Between the removal of the Quarter Master, reorganization of the supply orders and the rescheduling of the freight coming in, Hammor had his big green hands full.
As he made his way through the passageways at a brisk walk, he tapped his comms. =^= Ensign Reed. I’m sending you a list of items Science has been waiting on. They have been ordered and we have the confirmations, so they’ll be arriving in the next twenty-four hours. Need you to flag and tag those kits, get them asap to the Lab, fill them to capacity before we start using their bulk cargo space. Confirm? =^=
Hammor, Ops
There was a pause. A relatively long pause =^= Confirmed =^=.
Switching to Transporter based cargo management for the bulk of the transfers and way from the lighters had made up much of the time, but he had had to hack the emergency transporters to manage the pace the new boss in OPS set. The crew just weren’t used to handling cargo this way, and he was constantly ‘encouraging’ science and security that they had to clear cargo before they could be re materialized, and the crew come longshoremen had struggled with tagging the appropriate locations for said cargo. Coming up on the 24 hour Mark things had been going much smoother, after a nights sleep Alfa shift was working much more efficiently with new system, and as the Dresden was still technically under Star-base One’s command, he had brought over longshoremen to establish a beachhead in cargo bay 5 to handle the Cargo that had to be manually transferred and shanghaied Star bass security personnel to bolster Olsen’s crew
Stores still couldn’t understand why starfleet designed ships to be stocked buy transporters and then insisted on using lighters. Dragging cargo threw the ship from the shuttle bay to the cargo bays was an insane amount of work.
Tagging the Lab supplies so the computer would inform them when they were 5 lines down the que Stores went back to work.
He had miles to go before he slept…
Clinton”Stores”Reed, Supercargo
Having spent the afternoon getting her crewmen straight in the Science Department, Priscilla decided she need a break. Without heading to her office first, she headed straight down to the cargo bay. Rumor was, they were departing in the next day or two. There were things the CSO wasn’t going to head into deep space without. So she headed for the Cargo Bay and discovered that Reed was the man to speak to about supplies, and he was in the shuttle bay.
One of the navy and safety green bedecked longshoremen pointed to a tall man in the classic brown and tan of the merchant marine, who was seems to be in an impromptu meeting, with a gang boss and a security officer.
Moving to that location, and asking two others to point him out, the woman arrived and waited till he wasn’t speaking to anyone before making herself known. “I understand you are Reed, the one in charge of cargo coming onto the ship?” She was five foot eight, and barely one hundred and ninety pounds. Her hand reached up to brush an errant strand of dusty blonde hair behind her ear. “I’d like to discuss a need I have.” She smiled at him with a sly look that said she knew it would take negotiations, and she was willing to do such.

Finishing up with negotiating terms between security and the civilian, Stores made notes to go out to all the team leaders.
Hearing the woman’s voice, Stores put his virtual work space on standby. Turning with a smile the older man stuck out his hand. “How can I help you M’am?” He looked bedraggled but seemed genuine.Clinton”Sores”Reed, Supercargo
Priscilla smiled. “Priscilla, Priscilla Simms. I’m the new Science Chief. And,” she dropped her hand and glanced around, “and I am here because I understand we will be leaving in a couple days. I haven’t had much luck with the Quarter Master, and apparently my predecessor wasn’t either. The new Ops Chief took my lists yesterday, but I don’t hold much stock in him, either. Never had much luck with those guys in the past.” Her voice held a bitter taste that would let him know she didn’t take much stock in those who were supposed to look after others.
“Needless to say,” she pulled a small pad from her back pocket. “I have a list of things that Science needs before we leave back into the black. What will it take to get them here in time?” She hated the idea of bartering, but then again, she always did. But it was a small price to pay to be prepared out there when it was needed.
