USS Dresden
Shore leave, Stores
Posted by Ensign Clinton Reed (Engineer) in Shore leave, Stores
Being in the heart of the Federation, Stores thought better of his usual tendency to play fast and loose with the rules and dutifully waited in line to check of the Dresden and exited from the main airlock with the rest of the crew. Adjusting his sea bag, he walked down the umbilical and onto the station only to see two people in security gold looking at the disembarking crew and checking their PPADs.Spotting him just after he had seen them the young woman stepped forward “Mr. Reed” certainly not a question.
Eyeing her Stoney faced companion Stores thought hell if I,m going to spend leave in a cell, might as well have some fun “Depends who’s askin’, darlin’” trying his best to imitate Isaac’s southern drawl.
Without even a smirk or a scowl, the young woman responded “We’re here to see you don’t get lost, Mr. Reed. If you’ll come with us.” All the wile her companion had drifted forward to flank Stores.
Resigned to his fate, Stores shrugs.” After you, dear lady”.
Stores shortly finds himself on a shuttle to SanFrancisco and Starfleet headquarters. Good call stashing my kit on the Dresden stealing himself for what for him is anxiety filled descent into the gravity well, and a world of open vistas and blue skies.
Exhausted, but finally free of his escort, Stores finds himself boarding a suttle back to Starbase one and hopefully back to the Dresden.
The last three days were gruling excersizes in patience. After the trip down he had found himself in the small waiting room of the Vigilance’s CO’s office. He shared the room with a young officer acting as the admirals secretary and a large, grey haired and imposing Klingon wereing the black and purple of Starfleet but with a white shirt and a Klingon imperial crest and a white sleeveless robe that looked like somthing from a B rate holo novel.
Despite the requisite ass chewing he received it was a pleaser to see the boss again. But the next two days with Starfleet Medical and A security debrief, he was not feeling the love. Add to that his insomnia, he was on his last nerve.
Despite having a recording of shipboard background noise and the subsonic vibrations that every ship has he just couldn’t sleep with the quite.
The gate personnel were pleasant as was the stewardesses and flight crew but not being fleet the process was much longer than had the trip down.
But as promised he had been given accommodations in the migrant workers suits, and had an interview with fleet logistics civilian counterparts tomarrow. Hopfuly, as he wasn’t qualified to serve as stay behind crew at this time they would take him as civilian liaison for the staybehind crew. The Admeral had assured him it was a formality, but who knows.
Not bothering to take off his boots, much less undress Stores collapsed on the bed and was gently snorring in a mater of moments.
