When the woman touched him, Harris would feel himself overcome with light and the sensation of weightlessness. His consciousness blacked out, and when he awoke, he was laying on a hard surface with bright white light all around him. His eyes could barely make out four walls surrounding him. He was alone.

His eyes slowly pained the room, but he didn’t dare speak. Laying as still as possible, Harris inventory of his current physical status. One by one, he gave fingers and toes little wiggles to make sure everything was still attached and worked.

“You have not been harmed,” A voice came through the bright light. “Although you may feel a bit of a numbness in your extremities for the time being.” There was no clear person or presence to match the voice, as his eyes would be nearly blinded by the light surrounding him.

Harris tried to see if he could make out any shapes or forms near him but to no avail. The Marine took a few slow, deep breaths and asked as flatly as possible. “Why have you taken me from my ship? And where am I?”

“You are needed,” The voice replied. “You are with us now.”

The light around him began to take shape, a humanoid form, until it manifested in the appearance of a human female. This one was dressed in a satin like body suit of a deep burgundy color. Her hair was dark, long, hanging loose down her back, and on her head was a massive jeweled crown.

“I am Regent Carlotta of the Rellex,” She said. “You are Colonel Harris are you not?”

Harris slowly raised himself onto his elbows and looked at the woman who appeared. “I am Colonel Harris. Might I ask, Regent, why you and your people thought it necessary to remove me from my ship without asking? The Federation is always happy to help where we can.” The Marine said politely. “But we really don’t care for being kidnapped.”

“All will be explained,” Regent Carlotta said. “My people are in the middle of a long and timeless war. We have crossed many timelines to achieve our goals. Had we not removed you from your ship, the outcome of our actions here would be quite…” She paused, staring at him for a moment. “Different.”

Taking a step towards him, she reached out a hand. “Please, if you will come with me, I can assure you that no harm will come to you.”

Harris cautiously extended his hand to take the one that was offered. “How…” The Marine began as gently as he could. “… might the situation have been… different?” The Dresden’s commander finished the question as he came carefully to his feet. “If you would have asked, we would have likely helped without you having to remove me from my ship.”
