USS Dresden
Cargo Bay 2: Filling a Prescription
It was a couple days after Stores had left the gifts and cards in Janvier’s office that the doctor and Enj walked into the cargo bay. It had been a quieter than usual shift in Sickbay. With the last of her reports now completed and no long-term patients there hadn’t been much for her and Enj to do. By the end of the shift, Enj had grown restless and ansty. It was as good a time as any for Elaine to search out and thank the person behind it all. She had her suspicions that she knew who it was, but she wanted to be sure so she could thank Reed properly. Even if it she had been wrong, or he wasn’t around, the walk would do her and Enj some good at least. Because it was a good chance for them to stretch their legs it had seemed like a good idea to bring Enj along with her.
But when Enj suddenly took off as soon as they entered, she started reconsidering the wisdom in her decision. Watching Enj tear around the Cargo Bay like he’d been locked in a kennel for a week, was exhausting. Perhaps it would have been wiser for her to let him run around on the holodeck for a while before she had taken him through the ship. He was like a raquet ball pinging around a court, as the dog dashed madly from one crew member to another. It was hard work just maintaining visuals on him, she didn’t have a hope of catching him with the head start he had on her.
