They had backed up away from transporter range, but why hadn’t anyone done anything about the vessel? Why was it still there? : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Suddenly, the realization dawned on her that /that/ was actually her job. Turning to the CTO, Manning spoke “Tactical, what is the status of the freighter?” : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : - Lt. Cmdr. Manning, XO : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : There was about enough power in the freighter to last another four hours maximum and the fuel stores there remain empty. Most of the women there were alive but unconscious. The two trouble makers were still alive: one conscious and the other still out. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : ____ : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : GM : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Elmira checked over the freighter, “As of current, the power supply would appear to last up to two hundred forty minutes, albeit all fuel stored seems to be completely exhausted; empty.” A momentary pause came from the Betazoid, “Majority of the crew appears to be alive, although I don’t believe they are conscious. That is, speaking generally, ma’am.” : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : O’Shea : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : CTO : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Turning to the Science station, Amelia said. “Science, is there any way of knowing what is happening in there? What is causing the crew to be unconscious?” Manning was an Engineer, not a Scientist, and at this point, she wanted to act by the book. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Having just taken her station at Science 1, Lt. Cmdr. Dev initiated full scans of the interior of the freighter. She was looking for chemicals, radiation, recent phaser fire… anything really. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Without missing a beat, she asked the communications officer. “Are we in communications range? Can we open a channel?” Amelia was not sure what information that might bring them, but it was worth trying to see if anyone could hear them. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : - Lt. Cmdr. Manning, XO : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : OOC: What was the communication officer’s reply? – Joana : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : While the scans were… scanning, Dev took the opportunity to wind her long read pony into a tight bun on the top of her head. She knew it was silly, but she seemed able to concentrate better the tighter it was wound. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : -Lt. Cmdr. Dev, CSO : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : The energy signature that was found affecting the counsellor was detected. It was faint but because the energy signature was already fed into the database, the sensors were able to detect it quickly. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : _____ : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : GM : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : =/\=Computer, identify the energy signal,=/\= Dev requested to the science terminal. She also tapped a few buttons, broadening the scans. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : =/\=It has the same signature as that of the two men from the freighter who are presently in our sickbay,=/\= replied the computer. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : At that moment, the turbo lift doors hissed open and onto the Bridge walked the Dresden’s Commanding Officer. As the Marine walked past the Aft Tactical Station, NE Robinson was the first to notice and barked a firm “Captain on the Bridge” as he passed. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Passing the CTO at her Station on the Horseshoe with a nod then approaching the Centre Chair, Harris’ piercing blue eyes looked down to his new XO. Though the look on his face would tell Amelia he wasn’t.... trying… to be intimidating, his stature and overall appearance didn’t help. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : “Report Exec…” Harris said flatly. “… have we found our… guest?” : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Col. Harris, CO : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : As soon as the announcement words came out of Robinson’s mouth, Amelia turned to the turbolift and readily stood from the center chair. Her eyes widened as Harris approached her, and she could feel cold sweat as he spoke. How come she was more nervous to talk to her Commanding Officer as she was of dealing with everything that was happening on board the Dresden? : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : “Not yet, Sir.” Manning said as steadily as she could. “We have security teams sweeping Deck 13. Science is also trying to find out why is it that everyone on board the freighter seems to be unconscious.” : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Nervously, she stepped aside and stood in front of her chair. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : - Lt. Cmdr. Manning, XO : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : “There is not much to report yet… sirs. There is an as of yet, unidentified energy signal. I’m working on it.” Dev probably should have paid more attention to what had transpired before she appeared at her post. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : -Lt. Cmdr. Dev, CSO : : : : : : : : : : : : : _____ : : : : : : : : : : : : : GM : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Harris settled in his chair and motioned to the Helmsman. “Helm, full power to shields. Bring us about and take us within full sensor range of the ship.” The Helmsman did as ordered, bringing the ship to face the other vessel and then closed to just inside sensor range. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Harris, CO : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Amelia sighed in relief. At least she was not in charge anymore. She watched silently as the Dresden moved back into position. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : It was only then, with sensors fully trained on the ship that the energy signatures were detected on all the living crew members of the ship, except for the two who were aggressive to the away team. The signatures were faint and would have been ignored as background energy if not for the fact that the ship’s database had marked it as potentially harmful. In the meantime, the two who are the aggressors seemed to have recovered and were moving to the transporter room of the freighter. : : : : : : : : : : : _____ : : : : : : : : : : : GM : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : “Colonel, Sensors indicate movement on the freighter. It looks like the two aliens that the away team recovered are heading towards their transporter room.” : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Suddenly, Molly’s voice came through the comms. =/\= Wright to COB, two to beam to the Brig. Beam /me/ outside of the cell. =/\= : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : - Capt. Wright, CIO/COS : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : COB worked fast. “Energizing” He said after a half a moment, inputting the commands. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : What now? Was Manning’s first thought as the Chief Intelligence officer’s voice filled the room. She shot the COB a hopeful glance. Did that mean they had caught the intruder? Although, where was the guy that had been keeping them posted? Why had he not been the one reporting? : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Sitting back, Amelia looked at the viewscreen, too scared to look at the Marine sat on her left. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : - Lt. Cmdr. Manning, XO : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : -COB : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Harris pinched the bridge of his nose for a moment before tapping his commbadge =A= Harris to Wright, might I ask just what the hell is going on?=A= There was a clear growl in his tone and as he awaited the response, Amelia could swear she could hear the Marine grinding his teeth. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Harris, CO : : : : : : : : : : : : There was a pause, almost as if Wright was deliberately not replying. And then, the comms finally came to life. : : : : : : : : : : : : =/\= Wright to Harris. I have a possible suspect in custody. I’ll let you know as soon as I know more. Wright out. =/\= : : : : : : : : : : : : The annoyance in Wright’s tone was clear. : : : : : : : : : : : : - Capt. Wright, CIO/COS : : : : : : : : : : Amelia let go of a breath she didn’t know she had been holding. She didn’t look at Harris during the exchange, but at least knowing that she was not the only one that got to the Marine made her feel slightly better. Only she wished she had Wright’s will power when it came to it rather than feeling like she wanted to melt down and disappear. : : : : : : : : : : Manning wanted to remind the Colonel that some of the occupants of the freighter had been moving to the ship’s transporter room, but she didn’t want to see what would happen if she were to be the one breaking the ice. : : : : : : : : : : - Lt. Cmdr. Manning, XO : : : : : : : : After a moment, Harris said flatly… clearly getting more annoyed with each passing second. “COB… lock on to both those bastards on the Freighter and beam them both… individually… into empty holding cells in the Brig. Max power to Shielding and Bio-Hazard containment fields.” : : : : : : The two individuals were beamed on board without any problems. : : : : : : : Glancing to the Communications Officer, the Marine continued. “Comm… contact Fleet HQ and advice of the situation. High Risk Contact Situation… Standard Emergency Protocols for Hostile Species First Contact now in place. For the safety of civilian and Federation vessels in the area, we will be taking the vessel into custody of the Federation and implementing Quarantine on Human-like Alien Lifeforms until proper classification can be obtained. Requesting immediate assistance for taking the vessel into custody and… securing… its crew.” : : : : : : : : Turning nearly completely around, Harris then looked to the sole remaining Security Officer on the Bridge. “Secure the Bridge. No one on or off without current Bridge Clearance on file. Set Security Condition Level 4 throughout the ship.” : : : : : : : : Settling back into his chair for a moment, Harris looked next to his XO and with a slight… smirk… he asked in a relaxed fashion. “Thoughts Commander?” : : : : : : : : Harris, CO : : : ____ : : : GM : : Manning’s eyes slowly focused on Harris. She was not surprised, or in shock, or anything the Marine might expect. Rather she seemed… immersed in her own thoughts. Her heart was beating frantically in her chest. She could feel it. And there was no doubt in her mind that she would be learning in the line of fire. But Amelia was past shock at this point. : : She opened her mouth to speak, but before she could utter a sound, the speakers came to life. : : - Lt. Cmdr. Manning, XO : : : The comm crackled and Molly’s voice came through. : : : : =/\= Wright to Harris, the intruder is in our custo– =/\= There was a pause as if something had suddenly caught Wright’s attention. =/\= Uh… Colonel, two new people just materialized in two of our cells. May I enquire the nature of the visit of our new guests? =/\= : : : : - Capt. Wight, CIO/COS Harris tapped his Commbadge with a slight smile. =A= Just two more… guests… from the other vessel. The two from the Transporter Room. I thought it better we keep an eye on these trouble makers on our terms, don’t you agree Chief?=A= By the tone in his voice it was clear the stressing of Captain Wright’s position on board. Harris, CO

Wright’s reply was short and swift. =/\= Aye Sir. I’ll keep you posted. =/\=

(OOC: Crossposting from Sickbay – Joana)

=^=Ducote to the Captain. I’ve been cleared for duty, where can I meet you to get updated on the situation and do my part.=^=

–CE, Mathys A. Ducote, Eng

OOC: Sorry for the delay on this Janice. I guess I missed your original post of this (Yeah for the new boards! lol)

IC: =A= Harris to Ducote… report to the Bridge. I’ll meet with you in my Ready Room. Harris out.=A= Harris’ voice sounded a bit calmer now that it seemed his ship was once more coming under /his/ control.

Harris, CO

OC: It’s alright. I’ve missed posts before, but at least we got things set and can continue with the Sim.

IC: Mathys nodded in understanding. He had managed to grab his tools before he departed the sickbay, feeling like he might need them later. He continued to walk toward the bridge. His mind lingered on the Counsel’s state of mind, how she reacted and what had lead to it. A spark of anger surged into his heart due to his protective nature over his allies. It faded when he acknowledged it. Any additional thoughts were erased when the doors hissed, his figure sliding through them onto the bridge itself. Quickly he moved toward the Ready Room as priorly ordered by the CO.

“Alright, I’m here. Now what?” Mathys asked, clearly not up to date with recent events.

–CE, Mathys A. Ducote, Eng

Harris rose from his chair and made a gesture with his hand toward Manning. “Come on Exec… I want you in on this.” Walking into the Ready Room, Harris began speaking before the door had even closed.

“Chief… we have contacted Fleet HQ and advised them that we are now in a rather high risk contact situation. Three minutes ago, I sat Security Condition Level 4 due to the risk posed by what I now believe is a First Contact scenario with a Hostile Species.” Harris reached his chair and sat, motioning for the other two officers in the room to do so.

He continued at a sharp clip. “Standard Emergency Protocols for Hostile Species are now in place. For the safety of civilian and Federation vessels in the area, I have implemented Quarantine on the guests and taken custody of their ship until support from Starfleet Command arrives. I need you to give me a full report on their ship… where it came from, capabilities, everything. If possible, I want their drives disabled until such time as we deem appropriate. Lastly, I want you to have a team available to work with Sickbay to create a… artificial feeding device… of some kind to sustain our ‘guests’ until they can answer all we need to know. Questions?”

Harris, CO

OOC: Just to supplement the CO’s post. Starfleet Security has sent a ship to rendezvous with the Dresden. They would be arriving in a couple of hours.
