this isnt a bad ship, not bad at all. Stores thought as he was escorted threw the ship. He could see the tail tail signs of repaired battle damage, little things most wouldn’t recognize like the slight off color of fresh bulkhead covers and deck plates next to older ones. You just can’t scrub the all the soot of them, and short of a compleat refit it isn’t practical to replace all of them.
I see the Goon isn’t going to let me out of his sight, can’t say I blame him, I wouldn’t trust some civ brought in in chains on my ship either. stepping into the lift, and stepping aside for the security officer. “Deck 3, please”…
that’s a good sign Thought Stores, as the lift didn’t respond. Some one is serious about security “ Do you mind?” Turning to address the security officer. After a pause and a disdainful glare. “Deck 3”.
The lift doors open after a brief ride in what could not be called “companionable silence”, letting them out on deck 3. Sauntering up to the sick bay door, Stores sets down his sea bag and brushes his hair back with his fingers and straitened his overalls. damn I need a shower, rubbing the bruised left side of his face, wile picking up his bag. Turning to the security officer wile palming the panel to open the door “ready?”…

Clinton “Stores” Reed, Supercargo.

OOC: My apologies that my reply was so late. I thought I had, but my computer never submitted the form -_-

IC: Sickbay, when Clinton entered, seemed to have a light, almost active atmosphere despite not having all that many patients in there. The medical staff, were all cheerfully occupied with something whether it was cleaning medical equipment or tending to the few patients that were around. But as the security officer and his ward began to be noticed the mood changed into something a little more wary. It would seem that the rumour of the unusual arrival had spread already.

The only one who seemed utterly unaffected by the rumours was a little black and white dog, who trotted over to the pair wagging his tail and butt as if greeting a long lost friend.

“Dr Janvier, this one is yours,” One cheeky medic, commented, tapping a small woman to get her attention and pointing the pair out to her. “Chiefs perogative.” The petite woman glanced up tucking a stray piece of brown hair behind her ears. Seeing the dog already all over the newcommer she rolled her eyes and passed her work on to the medic who had interrupted. She moved away to ‘rescue’ Clinton from the wee dog.

“Dr Janvier,” The woman greeted as she approached the pair. Although her smile and tone was warm enough, her eyes had caught sight of the bruise on Reeds cheek. “If you want to take a seat at one of the empty biobeds I can take a look at your injuries.” she bent down and scooped the fur ball under her arm. “Enj wasn’t bothering you was he? He likes to do the Sickbay meet and greet when he can get away with it.”

Lt. (j.g.) Janvier & Enj, CMO
OOC,
No problem, I am more than a bit tech challenged when it comes to computers.
IC:“Not a problem M’am, I love dogs, just havent seen them often” Stores said with a lopsided grin after he sat down on the biobed. “Please excuse my state”
The smell, grey beard stubble and healing bruises hinted at three days or more of confinement. Further his stiff gait and slightly guarded posture hints at more damage. This impression supported buy rents and lacerations in his coverall, tho the EVA compression suit seemed intact.

Clinton “Stores” Reed, Supercargo

Elaine’s lips pursed as she observed the mans gait. It was a familiar one of someone trying to move normally but carefully. From her own experience she was willing to bet that the man had more injuries hiding where she couldn’t see. It wasn’t a posture she liked to see on crew members, regardless on the rumours that Reed had shown up in cuffs. And based off the colouring around the one on his cheek… “This is old.” she commented, her features tightning in disproval a little bit, “Why has nobody seen to them until now?”

Lt. (j.g.) Janvier, CMO
“Well, M’am…” Stores began, with a little mischief in his eyes.” …ain’t nothing life threatenin’ and I think I created a bit of a problem for the Port Maaster and his Security Chief” pulling his coffee stain colored sea bag into his lap and rummaging around he presents the doctor with a red memory rod. “Don’t imagine my records have cought up with me yet, so you might want a copy”

Clinton “Stores” Reed, Supercargo

Bump

The doc shook her head a little, still not liking that he hadn’t been treated properly, but she let it slide. She would see to them as part of the mans physical. “Too be honest I’m so deep in reports I probably wouldn’t know if your records had made it here yet or not,” she joked, taking the offered memory rod. Using her medical PADD she accessed the information, her eyes quickly scanned the information before her. Occasionally, as she read one of her eyebrows would raise or she would glance at Reed.

“You seem to be a magnet for all kinds of injuries.” she commented, setting aside her PADD, “I hope your long term ones have been treated better than your more recent ones. How frequently have you been treated for them?” through her experience she had always found that it was always better to ask the patient, rather than just relying on reports that could be forged or waylaid. It seemed and especially relevent question to ask now given that if Reed hadn’t been treated for his injuries during his incaseration it stood to reason that he hadn’t been treated for anything else either.

Lt. (j.g.) Janvier, CMO

“I dont imagine I look any worse than any one else who served in a front line Enginering department m’am, we tend to take the brunt of it shipboard.” Stores said with a wry smile and a haunted look. “ anti radiation boosters are prescribed monthly, chromosomal mutation monitoring and repair quarterly with telomere regeneration yearly. Typicaly the positronic implants are monitored and adjusted monthly, but honestly quarterly is specified as are my other implants. Replacements typicaly get the once over yearly, tho their has been some concern about the replicated tissue being more susceptible to radiation.” An honest smile spreading across his face,” doc I have more after market parts than original equipment, but I owe old doc T’chala my life.” The cuts on Stores hands are clearly visible were he grips the top of his bag, most look to be typical lacerations from brawling and hitting an opponents teeth, but atleast one is an incision like a cut from glass or a knife.’ ‘I’m due a booster but my quarterly isn’t till next month.” Stores looks at ther floor, as he fights back tears. lots of guys art as lucky afteraa deep breath, Stores meets Elain’s eyes with his typicaly mischievous look back in place “need me to list all the new parts, Doc?”

Clinton “Stores” Reed, Supercargo
Bump, doc

Enj wriggled away from Elaine and trotted over to Stores, nuzzling his leg with his nose as if to tell the man that he was there, and then sat down pressing his body against him.

Looking down at the happy little dog and patting the bio bed, come on then, I”lol pet ya’.

“Not unless you think you can surprise me.” Elaine winked, a soft smile on her face, “But I warn you, all the ships I’ve been on following my cadet crews have been combat ships of some type.” truth be told it was only two ships. The Ixlilton a medical triage ship, and the Dresden, but those two ships made up her entire career to date. She had seen all kinds of trauma injures and knew that the fact that Stores was standing before her now meant that Dr T’Chala must have been a very proficient doctor indeed. If Stores had been treated by a less adept doctor it was debatable whether he would still be standing there. She turned to a nearby tray of medical equipment and picked up a dermal regenerator. She kept her smile strictly on her face, determind to keep her dark thoughts to herself. He already knows how luck he is to still be here she thought to herself as she readied the insturment to treat the mans injuries; He doesn’t need you making unessasery comments.

“Oh no, m’am” blushing Stores looked away “ I didn’t mean anything like that, m’am. Those parts are mostly original.” Looking back at the atractive young doctor” I just ment transplants, implants and augments of the nesisaraly kind”

“I’m going to heal up your bruises before I complete your physical,” she explained, “If you could please turn this way for me,” she guestured for him to turn to the left so that the left side of his face was wholly facing her.

Lt. (j.g.) Janvier & Enj, CMO

Obviously flustered , Stores complies will absentmindedly petting Enj, “ I ment no offense m”am,” the older man said, sounding for all the world like a scolded schoolboy.

Clinton “Stores” Reed, Supercargo

OOC, I still havent got the hand of inserting conversations , I have inserted a few lines and they all blend in to your responce, sorry about that.

CS

Bump
OOC,hope work is going well, bump.

OOC: Thanks. We’re getting there. And don’t worry too much about the posts merging , it took me a while to figure out too. Try putting in an extra free line in between my posts and yours. It might be reading the intial break as part of my post and taking it away automatically. Take a look at the arrows ( >>) before each line, they tend to be a good indicator as to which post they’re going to be read as part of.

IC: It was somewhat amusing, Elaine found, to have someone so flustered before her. She was used to being ordered about, pushed around and questioned because of her youth or because she was gentle and therefore (supposedly) easy to push around. She had dealt with patients that didn’t want to be treated and patients that thought they knew more than her. But she couldn’t have made it this far if she been a mat for them all. She knew how to push back when she needed to, to get the respect she deserved.

For a moment the only sound there was was the steady ‘thump’ of Enj’s tail as it hit the bed while he wagged it. “It’s your first day here,” Janvier said, as she used the dermal regenerator to heal the bruises on Clintons face, “So I’ll offer you a small piece of advice… try to avoid ticking off the ones who patch you up after you tick everyone else off. It won’t do you any good.” Her voice was steely and cold, but if Stores dared to look he would see her eyes held a twinkle behind them. “If you think we won’t do anything because of the oath we all swore, you will find that doctors… have a way of making things… uncomfortable,” here she grabbed his chin and turned it. Her grip was light enough that the man could break her grip if he wanted, but forceful enough that he could feel that the placement of her fingers wasn’t entirely random, at least one, if not two rested atop either a nerve ending or a pressure point.

Unable to keep a straight face any longer a bemused smile graced her face as she released her grip and with the other side of his face now facing her, she started working on healing the bruises on there. “Don’t worry Ensign, I’m only slightly messing with you. I don’t stand for violence, whether it is underhanded or not. But I also wont stand for my department to be disrespected so if I hear of your insulting any of my subordinates, you will find yourself cleaning the surgery instead of them, the next time they are rostered on. Is that understood?”

Lt Janvier & Enj, CMO

OOC, hang in there. Work is a nesisary evil.

IC
“M’am, I’ll take scrubbing the surgery over scrubbing plasma injectors” the blush slowly fading and a wry smile creeping in, “ besides y’all have the anigisics if not the booze”

“Well you’d be braver than some of my Ensigns,” Elaine smirked knowing that on a bad day the blood, pus, and other bodily items could be enough to make even a seasoned doctor bulk. It wasn’t often like that but when it was… She wasn’t entirely sure if Reed quite knew what he was signing himself up for or if the plasma injectors were much, much worse. But if Reed was willing to play Surgery roulette than that was up to him. “And if you think I’d let you lay one finger on sickbay’s supplies than you are mistaken.”

“In all seriousness m’am, I ment no disrespect. It didnt sound that way In my head “ Stores eyes looked weary and misty. “ Mags would be about your age, and I wouldnt any one, especialy some old coot disrespecting her”

Clinton “Stores” Reed, Super cargo

OOC: Woo! 2 replies in one week. We’re finally getting there.

IC: “Who are you calling an old coot?” Elaine joked, trying to lighten the mood. Whoever this ‘Mags’ person was, she was obviously close to Stores. “You clearly haven’t met ol’ Jonesy from the Science devision yet. He’s pushing 70 but he speaks as if he were older.”

“Don’t worry,” Elaine smiled, her eyes had softened into an expression that was either ‘sadness’ or ‘disappointment’ “As one of the youngest of my rank I’m used to it. You aren’t the first and you won’t be the last. People seem to think that because I am younger than they are they can say what they like. Like my rank is just a decoration. Often the ‘advice’ I’m given is generally critical and downright insulting, one way or another.” She shrugged as if it didn’t bother her, “Just so long as you don’t accidently run your mouth at my staff we won’t have a problem.”

Lt. Janvier, CMO

OOC, glad to see your byline. Hope CV19 hasn’t added to your work stress.

“Some times my mouth seams to have a mind of its own, m’am” Stores smiles as the bruise on his jaw fades” But I assure you, you have my respect” the haunted look was back on his face “I have seen medics scrape enough friends up of the bulkheads not to respect them too, heck it’s been me a time or two”

Stores uncomfortably shifts position” It goes without saying if you or your peaple need any thing, I’m your huckleberry.”

Clinton “Stores” Reed, Supercargo

OOC: My primary work is in the hospitality industry, so now that we’ve shut our boarders I doubt we’re going to have anybody comming in for much longer.

IC: Enj shuffled in his seat, and lay his head on Stores’s lap with a sigh. Elaine smiled. “Your offer is much appreciated, and I’m sure we’ll make full use of you in the future. And it goes without saying, but you’ve been ‘okayed’ by Enj so you are more than welcome in Sickbay any time you want… although you will find any time spent in sickbay much more enjoyable if you come here of your own violation.”

Finishing up with the last of the bruising, Elaine put aside the regenerator and picked Enj up and placed him on the floor. In almost an immediate act of rebellion, Enj jumped straight back up on the biobed although he didn’t sit as close to Stores as before. Ignoring Enj, Elaine selected out the medical tricorder to finish up the last part of his physical. “Your bruises should be all healed up now, though a couple of the deep tissue ones will still feel a little sore for the next while so take it easy. So long as my scans say everything is in working order,” she waved the tricorder, “than I can clear you for medical.”
