“No. Need to apologies sir, its your job after all” Stores smile is strained, “as to how I got the handle Stores, the XO on the Vigilance was a navy history buff.
Apperantly warships back in the day didn’t have cargo bays as such and called their munitions, provisions, spares and other cargo “ships stores”.“Being a boomer, I naturally was taped to assist in transferring salvaged materials to the ship as well as other replenishing operations, so when the X started calling me Stores it stuck.” Stores smile was genuine if not pained. “Been a minute since I even thaught of my self as Clinton Reed”

Renveer nodded with a thoughtful expression at Stores’ explanation. “Makes sense! Clinton Reed is quite the distinctive name as well. Which would you prefer for me to call you by?” Renveer’s head tilted to the side slightly in curiosity. The ensign’s last statement intrigued him and he wondered if there was more beneath the surface to unpack.
(Lt. Comm. Renveer, Counselor)
“That’s entirely up to you,’ Stores grinned” tho the only time anyone called me Clinton was when I was in trouble”
Indeed, Clinton reeds service and psyciatric records indicated much that needed to be unpacked, loss of most of his family with the Tortuga, a decade at war aboard the Vigilance as a civilian and several severe injuries. Not to mention the incident the that brought him to this ship, the report is rather short on detailed but long on charges, to include assault, maiming, weapons violations and inciting a riot… if nothing else he seemed to fit right well with the rest of the Dresden’s crew.

“Well you’re certainly not in trouble, Stores,” Renveer said with a small smile. “After all, you sought me out, which I appreciate.”
The counselor paused. “How has the Dresden been treating you, Stores? It sounds as if one of my colleagues believed it would be a good fit for you. What do you think? Can you see yourself being content on assignment here long-term?” Renveer seemed genuinely interested in Stores’ answer, leaning forward slightly.
(Lt. Comm. Renveer, Counselor)
Well , Sir she is a fine ship, and her crew is a wonderfull mix of eccentric cranks masquerading as Starfleet,” the twinkle in his blue eyes is unmistakable. “ All kidding aside, I learned long ago that I realy couldn’t live anywhere but on a ship, thankfully I am back where I belong.” The sadness was back in his eyes. “To answer to you question, the Dresden has been good to me so far. This is my home and family now, for beter or worse.
Clinton “Stores” Reed, Supercargo
‘Renveer chuckled lightly at Stores’ joke, then nodded in understanding as he spoke of his sense of place on the Dresden. “Being in the right environment is essential to reach our full potential. Knowing where you feel most complete is an awareness not many people have, so you’re lucky that way.” He smiled a little wider. “And that’s how family works, isn’t it? You rarely get to choose it, you just have to hope for the best. As a new member of the family myself, I’m glad to hear that you’ve been finding the adjustment to be at least relatively smooth.”
The counselor paused for a moment after the light-hearted jesting. He had caught the look in Stores’ eyes, but didn’t want to press the subject so soon. “Have you visited sick bay yet, Stores? I’ve heard great things about Lieutenant Janvier and her dog. I noticed in your file that you had a pretty severe traumatic brain injury. I’d be interested to see what the most recent scans say about your recovery, although I understand that it’s been a few years.”
(Lt. Comm. Renveer, Counselor)
At the mention of the doctor, Stores flashed a wonderful shade of red “ Ah, yes sir” he stammered. “She seemed satisfied with the regenerated tissue and the implants.”
“ I have been told that their is an amazing bit of work between my ears.” After regaining his composure Stores continued’ Unfortunately it dosnt keep me from making a fool of my self”

There was a gleam in Renveer’s eyes in recognition of the blush, and his lips twitch upwards as he suppressed a smile. “Well I’m pleased to hear that everything is ship-shape from the medical perspective. As I’m sure you know, TBIs can have a wide range of physiological and also psychological impacts. I know that you’ve been managing your condition for some time now. But I did just want to check base about if you’ve been feeling anxious or agitated, or otherwise felt any changes in mood since your transfer to the Dresden.”
Renveer spoke with good-natured concern, without any hint of being condescending. These were difficult things to talk about, but sometimes counselors needed to be a bit direct to help the client understand that they are not trying to minimize or ignore potential problems.
(Lt. Comm. Renveer, Counselor)
“Well,” Stores chuckled.” I was more than a bit anxious when I was brought aboard. Nothing like coming aboard in irons to make a great first impression.” Shaking his head. “But Lieutenant Kleinhoffer and the Doc didn’t even blink and the XO and some of the crew have proven to be down right friendly.”
“As to the TBI and the rest, I don’t imagine things will ever be the same but the implant seems to do its job most of the time” Stores roles his eyes “ the reconstructed memories are seamless as far I can tell and the emotinal pacemaker keeps me out of trouble fo the most part”
Stores medical records show the positronic implant to rather unique in that insted of replacing damaged part so the brain like some earlier technology, insted a delicate network of component reside in the sulci with fine tendrils branching into brain its self. The original intention was to direct the integration of replicated tissue. Now it has been reprogramed to act as a neurological pacemaker so to speak. Even at first blush it seems woefully underutilized.

“I heard about your unique arrival,” Renveer said with an eyebrow raised in amusement. “But I’m glad that you’ve found the crew to be agreeable.”
Renveer leaned back again in his chair. “Well Stores, from what I can tell, you’re doing everything you should. You’re in good health, mentally and physically, you are managing your condition without major issue, and you are adjusting well to the transfer. I don’t see anything here we need to address, to be frank. Maintaining the status quo and allowing you to continue with your personal development aboard the Dresden seems like the best course of action.”
The trill man folded his hands in his lap as he made eye contact with Stores. “But, that’s just my perception. You did seek me out, after all. Is there anything you would like to talk with me about right now? We can always schedule a follow-up appointment if there is something you want to speak about but need time to prepare for that conversation.”
