A moment later, a similar splash brought Molly back. : : : : : : : : : : Molly coughed as the cold water slipped onto her face and into her eyes and drenched the top half of her tunic. The dried blood on her skin seemed to stick to it no matter what, and her usually perfectly knotted bun started to slip ever so slightly as the small hairpins that held it tight had trouble grasping her now wet hair. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : “Wake up!” Came a bark from the Jem’Hadar outside the small, cramped room they both woke up in. They shared a single three meter square cell, concrete floor and ceiling along with three walls and a heavy barred front wall. There was no window and no clear way to open the cell from inside. : : : : : : : : : Harris groaned slightly and sat up, rubbing the spot on the back of his head that had put him out. “Frack me!” He grumbled softly. His eyes then focused on the guard and evaluated their situation… it wasn’t good. : : : : : : : : : Rubbing her eyes with her wet sleeve, Molly took in her surroundings. Cal was there. Awake. Seemingly as confused and in shock as she was. But at least he was breathing. She barely glanced at him, afraid that her eyes would give away any feelings that she didn’t want their captors to understand. She looked around trying to find any weaknesses in the room. She found none. : : : : : : : : : : : Both were still in their full uniforms, though Molly was missing her side arm and her leg had been expertly patched. After a few moments, the guard barked again. “On your feet humans! Napoleon wants to have a word with you.” : : : : : : : : : : Napoleon? What was a clearly human name doing in the middle of the Jem’Hadar? Molly felt that whatever they had gotten themselves into ran far deeper than she expected. : : : : : : : : : : A quick pat on her side was enough for Molly to realize that they had taken away her pistol, but she couldn’t say she was surprised. Flinching slightly, Wright got up as ordered. Her leg however, had been taken care of, and even though it felt incredibly sore, it had left her with nothing but a slight limp. At least for now. She wondered if they had given her something for the pain, and if that was the case, how long it would last. But didn’t have a lot of time to wonder about it. : : : : : : : : : Climbing to his feet, Cal was rather confused how the name of one of the greatest military minds in human history had just come out the mouth of a Jem’Hadar Shock Trooper. It set a bad precedent as to where all this might go… but now way to know for sure. : : : : : : : : : : “Now…” He continued as the door opened. “… come with me.” : : : : : : : : : : : : As they walked down three corridors, the first short… a right turn… a slightly longer one… then a left turn into a short corridor leading to a large blast door. As they approached the door, anyone playing attention to the left side of the door would notice the distinguished ‘Shield & Swoosh’ of Starfleet Intelligence. : : : : : : : : : : Molly’s eyes scanned every inch of their surroundings and memorized every turn they made. A short corridor, then right, then a long corridor, then left… As they got to the door, Wright’s eyes kept wondering, searching, planning, looking for ways out of there. Until they found the seal on the door. Molly felt her blood freezing. It couldn’t be right. With everything that had happened, had her mind made something up? There was no way Starfleet Intelligence was involved with the Jem’Hadar. The intelligence that they had on Beta Prime was only a suspicion… a suspicion of alien activity on a planet inhabited by a race that only now had reached warp. How could it be? : : : : : : : : : : The seal and the name Napoleon. Those were two connections to Earth too many. Wright had a very bad feeling about what was happening. : : : : : : : : : Following, Harris’ focus was on the guard and their path. He had a feeling they were underground but he couldn’t be sure. Before long, they were at the door. : : : : : : : : : : Entering the room, Cal and Molly felt the hard stab of rifle barrels in their backs as they walked to the small platform in the center of the room. Once standing on top on the roughly foot high platform, the guards behind them struck the back of their outside knee… causing it to buckle. “On your knees!” Barked the one behind Cal. : : : : : : : : : : Molly muffled a yelp as the knee on her wounded leg hit the ground and the pain shot up her thigh. Biting her tongue, she raised her hands to the height of her shoulders so that they could see she was not doing anything but what they commanded her to do. : : : : : : : : : “Watch her leg, Jackass!” Barked the Marine but he bit back a further retort as the rifle barrel gouged his shoulder. “Shut you mouth human!” Sneered the guard behind him : : : : : : : : : : It was then that he entered, a tall man… nice black suit and clearly human. He walked to a spot just outside the column of light that illuminated the platform. From the platform, only his silhouette could be seen. : : : : : : : : : : The sudden appearance of a human being, together with the Intelligence seal Molly had just seen, triggered alarms everywhere in her brain. Until now she had been trying to deny the connections her brain was putting together as something her tired and paranoid mind was fabricating. But with every new thing that came to light, her paranoia seemed to be closer and closer to the truth. : : : : : : : : : The hairs stood up on Harris’ neck. What the actual frack was a human doing way out here… with these dirt bags? Cal continued to scan the dark, carefully looking for a way out. : : : : : : : : : : “These were only two we found in the shuttle…” said Fourth as he stepped onto the platform. That’s when they heard the voice of Napoleon for the first time has he cut off Fourth. “You idiot… no Federation Landing Party consists of a Tactical Officer and the ship’s Captain. You took too long to find the damn shuttle!” He snapped. Wright would feel she had heard the voice before but wouldn’t be able to place it. Then, ominously, he stepped just into the light in front of them. “However, in this case you did bring me something much better… two Starfleet Captains” That face! It was a face Molly would recognize instantly as that of Commander Tomas Dubois, Starfleet Intelligence. They went through The Farm together. “But then… you’re well of that… aren’t you… Molly.” He said with a smirk. : : : : : : : : : : : : Condor : : : : : : : : : Hearing Molly’s name from his lips nearly stopped Cal’s heart. Then just as quickly, a rage grew within him… how dare he even speak her name! Cal knew that the mess they were in was now waaaay over their paygrade. For the first time since the crash, Cal didn’t know if they would make it out alive. : : : : : : : : Harris, CO : : : : : : : : : At first the voice. Molly had heard it before, she was sure of it, but no face came to mind that she could place it. And then, everything came crashing down on her. The name, Napoleon… a stupid nickname Dubois insisted on having his friends calling him. The Intelligence seal on the door… Wright felt paralyzed in shock and fear. What was he doing working together with the Jem’Hadar? He was an Intelligence Officer. And a good one, from what Molly remembered, even though if they had not always seen eye to eye. Maybe he was in some mission… undercover… pretending to be their friend. Maybe he was even the source of the Intel she had had. Maybe it was all part of a greater plan. A plan that Molly wasn’t a part of. After all, they didn’t exactly know what every single one of their training mates ended up doing after they left. Some were way deeper in secrecy than Molly would ever be. Maybe Dubois was one of those officers. Infiltrating a Jem’Hadar base, gaining their trust, only to eradicate them from the planet… Wright decided to play along. : : : : : : : : : : Looking around, pretending to check if there was someone behind her that she hadn’t seen and that he was instead talking to, Molly finally cleared her throat to speak. “I… I’m sorry… I don’t know what you are talking about. As I told your… men… I am merely a Tactical officer.” Her voice trembled, prepared for the theatrics once more if she needed them. “We come in peace and we just want to go back to our ship…” : : : : : : : : : : - Capt. Wright, CIO : : : : : : The strike of Dubios’ slap across the left side of Molly’s face was crushingly powerful, knocking Molly to the floor. “You lying little bitch! You’re nothing more than New York street trash… just like that whore sister of yours. The only thing you ever did right was to join Starfleet and you screwed that up within a few years. Nothing worth a damn ever came out of Queens and you… my dear Molly… are living proof. Now…” He grabbed her by her bun and jerked her off the floor. “… look at me when I talk to you!” : : : : : : Condor : : : : With the strike of Dubois’s hand, Molly understood that the Intelligence Officer was not there to play. It was not a covert operation but rather a full blown rogue one. The meaning of the Farm’s last task was now clear to Wright. It might not be her own partner that she was fighting against, but a member of their small study group that, even though Molly had never particularly liked, she would have trusted for the simple fact that they had gone through the same training together. : : : : Molly’s eyes teared up with the strength of Dubois’s slap and the sting it left behind, as she fell sideways onto the floor. His words registered in the background as the familiar fight or flight response she used to feel after her own father’s outbursts came back after eighteen years of dormancy. He could call her names, spit insults in her face purposely tailored to make her understand that he knew all about her. Wright didn’t care. But then he mentioned her sister. Fear crept up inside her, as Molly realized the extent to what he might know — where she lived, what college she attended… A fury that Wright didn’t feel in a long time burned again inside her. : : : : But before she could even react, Dubois’s fingers were in her hair. With her bun already half undone from the crash and the subsequent events, his fingers had no trouble intertwining with her wet strands of hair, pulling it harshly. As a cry of pain escaped her lips, Wright had no choice but to rise to her feet as she felt her scalp being pulled away from her head. If he would allow her, Wright would kill him right then and there with her bare hands. The fact that all the Jem’Hadar in the room would shoot her if she did so was not really an issue in her mind. : : : : Trying to keep a level tone, Molly looked at her former training fellow with anger unlike he had ever seen. She was not afraid of what he might do to her, and Tomas would not be surprised by that. “What do you want from me?” She asked trying to ignore the searing pain growing in her head. “Let him go, and I will tell you anything you want.” Wright said motioning towards Cal. “There’s nothing he knows that I don’t.” : : : : - Capt. Wright, CIO : : Tomas towered over Molly, standing in a purposeful intimidating stance. A fire burned in his eyes, wild and in a way… crazy… it was a deadly combination considering the skill sets the Frenchman possessed. He clearly enjoyed the thought of having control of the situation and would certainly play his cards well to maintain it. Molly matched his glare. She knew how dangerous Dubois could be, but she also knew she could be just the match. : “Don’t flatter yourself Molly…” He sneered. “… your value to me predates either of our… current duties. For my purposes now, you were useless the moment you lost command of the Turing. I need an active Federation Captain, not a washout.” Then, Tomas’ eyes had an eerie shift in their look. “However…” He slowly licked his lips as his eyes scanned down her body. “… I can think of… other reasons to keep you around.” Molly felt a hand touch the side of her right breast. Once again, Wright didn’t care about the insults. She knew he was trying to get to her and she wouldn’t let him. And then, her heart froze as she felt his hand brush against her chest. But before she could even react, Cal sprung off his feet. : At that moment, with a wild scream, Harris thrust from his position in a savage strike to Tomas. Hitting him at full speed in the hip with Harris’ right shoulder both men went to the ground. There were multiple quick punches exchanged by both until suddenly, Harris was on top of Tomas… his hands around his neck and repeatedly slamming him into the deck. “Don’t… you… dare… touch… her!” He growled as he tried to kill the man with his bare hands. However, the momentary shock the guards experienced had vanished within a few moments, the guard closest snapped his rifle to his shoulder and fired three blasts… each striking Harris in the back… the last blowing him off Tomas. Molly jumped back as Cal’s figure snatched Dubois from his feet. She watched as the two men fought trying not think about the consequence’s of what was happening. And then, she saw one of the guards lifting his rifle, clearly preparing to shoot. “No!” The sound escaped Molly’s lips as she ran to put her body between Harris and the shots. But she was too late. Wright could do nothing more but to watch as the Jem’Hadar put down the man she loved. : Scrambling to his feet, Tomas snatched the rifle from the guard. “You moron! You better not have killed him or I’ll kill you myself!” The guard quickly responded. “Of course not. He’s merely stunned.” The Jem’Hadar solider shot back. It was clear they didn’t like taking orders from a human. For a split second, Wright stayed put, frozen in place by shock and fear. And then her mind felt clearer than ever before. She watched Tomas’s interaction with the shooter, and Molly exhaled in relief. Stunned was far better than dead. The Jem’Hadar’s attitude told Wright that he wasn’t very happy with the current arrangement, and for a moment she wondered if they could use that to their advantage. : Dubois walked back over to Molly, straightening his suit as he walked. Looking at the redhead with a smirk, he asked. “Breaking hearts… and beds… at every post, eh Holloway?” He paused and added. “Looks like your new boss has been mixing business with pleasure…” Tomas made an audible ‘tisk tisk’ sound as he shook his head. “… I wonder what else he doesn’t know about you.” : : Condor There was no longer fire in Molly’s eyes. When Dubois’s gaze met hers, there was nothing in them but ice. She didn’t even flinch at his mention of her name. Her birth name. A name she hadn’t heard in the past eighteen years. “Why don’t you figure it out? You seem to have done quite a bit of research on me… I’m sure you’ll sate your curiosity. And by the way, Tomas… my love life is none of your concern. Unless of course…” A smirk grew in Molly’s lips. “… you’re jealous? Maybe Birgitte wasn’t good enough for you? Or was she too young?” A look of realization appeared in Wright’s face. “Oh… or maybe /you/ were not good enough. Did she overhear me and Ryan and was disappointed when she realized you didn’t have the same skillset?” There was clear mockery in Molly’s tone.
- Capt. Wright, CIO
Tomas’ eyes flashed in fury and a split second later Molly felt a pair of powerful hands around her throat. Though her airway was free, Molly knew the grip was one intended to make the victim blackout in just under 30 seconds… a bit faster if enough force was applied to the blood vessels carrying oxygen to her brain.
Wright knew exactly what Dubois was trying to do. After all, they have both practiced the same technique. She tried her best to fight him, to use all the techniques Ryan had practiced countless times with her in their shared quarters. But Tomas was stronger than Molly would ever have thought.
As her body dangled, Tomas’ bringing Molly’s face to eye level with his, the Intel Officer spoke in a quick, raspy voice. “Listen here you little tramp…” He snapped. “… if I wanted you, I’d take you and there’s nothing you could do to stop me. But understand… when your boyfriend wakes up…” Molly could feel herself beginning to slip away.
”… I’m going to beat the Command Override Codes out of him, and then I’m going to let you watch me kill him.” Those were the last words Wright heard before blacking out cold.
As Dubois’s words slowly made their way to Molly’s ears, she didn’t worry. She couldn’t… as her conscience slipped away…
The first sound Molly heard when she awoke was Cal screaming in pain. Through the glass wall to her right, Molly saw him. Locked to a table top, bruising already showing on his bare chest… along with several long cuts. From his wet face and hair, and the bucket and towel on the floor beside him… it appeared he had also been repeatedly waterboarded.
The screams… the screams made Molly’s blood freeze. As she opened her eyes confused as to where she was, she turned in the direction of the sound. Through the glass she was presented with a spectacle she did not want to see.
As her eyes glanced over Cal’s bruised body, Wright wanted nothing more than to kill Tomas with her bare hands, but as she tried to get up she found herself in a situation way more dire than she had realized at first.
Molly found herself on a similar interrogation table in the adjacent room, restrained at the wrists and ankles. It was standard Intel layout… with one suspect able to see the other getting worked over but not able to be heard through the glass. The sound was piped in to… motivate… the one observing to talk. The room was very small, with no cameras and the only way out was through the main chamber where Cal was.
Wright knew the rooms. She knew the layouts. She knew what they held and what they were capable of. After all, she had been trained to use them… but never to be held /in/ them. Looking around, Molly tested her restraints once more, to know avail. There would be no easy way out… and through the sounds coming from the room next door, Molly’s mind started devising an escape plan.
A slap across his face cracked through the air. “Listen to me… Colonel…” Tomas hissed. “… do you really want to die for the Federation? For the people who took the mother of your only child from you… leaving you with nothing but a folded flag.” He punched the Marine hard in the middle of his chest. “Or do you want to die for her?” He pointed straight at Molly. “She’s a child Calvin… nothing compared to the woman you loved from the time you were sixteen. The woman that won awards covering the war… only to be taken and killed. Do you really want to die for the cause that took her life? That deprived your precious daughter of growing up with her mother.”
Molly tried to block the words coming out of Tomas’s mouth. She knew they were meant to test Cal, to break him and nothing more. But Wright also knew Dubois would need a little more than that to make Harris do his bidding. However, that didn’t make them have less of an impact on Molly herself.
As her old Intelligence colleague spoke, Molly’s mind went back to the one night after Belle’s death… the one night she had found the Marine passed out drunk on a recliner in his temporary quarters at Starbase Halcyon… the picture of a redheaded woman frozen on the television screen. Wright had a vague idea of who she was. She was also aware that Cal had a daughter and a complicated past. But as the words rolled onto her ears, Molly felt the doubt for the first time…
What was she doing? She had never met Cal’s daughter, but Molly had always assumed that had been because Commanding a starship didn’t exactly leave Harris with a lot of free time. She respected his privacy more than anything, but that night at Halcyon, in his drunken slumber Cal had confused Molly for his deceased spouse. What was Molly to him? Was she… a replacement? Did he keep her around because she reminded him of her? Wright didn’t know what his wife had done for a living but now that even that was out in the open, she knew she could never be a match.
Molly’s self-esteem had never been the best. She had joined Starfleet because her adoptive father had urged her to try it. If it wasn’t for him, she would probably still selling bread in the Farmer’s Market. That had always been what she knew she was destined to do. Her sister was the brain of the family. Not her. Like Tomas had said, she was nothing but a Starfleet washout… a failed Captain… who hid her failures behind the dark colors of Intelligence because she didn’t know how to do anything else. What was Cal doing with her anyway? She could never be as great as the woman he had once loved.
Then Molly heard a voice that sounded nothing like Cal… but was coming from his moving lips. It made Molly’s blood run cold. “I don’t care who you are or what you want… but you leave Ali and Ness’ out of this. As for Molly, she’s more of a woman than you’d ever deserve. But understand… if I ever get off this table, I will tear you apart with my bare hands. You’re never getting the codes… you’ll have to kill me first.”
Tears formed in Molly’s eyes. Part when she heard the damage Tomas had made in the voice of the man she loved and part when it dawned further on her that he would never love her completely. In her mind, she could hear a subtle difference in his voice when he talked about her, or about his past. If they made it out alive, Molly had a choice to make… and she knew what she would be choosing.
Raising a large, arching taser over Cal… Tomas smiled darkly. “Oh Colonel… you have no clue how much I wanted to hear you say that.” Ramming the taser into Harris’ side, Tomas laughed as the Marine cried out in agony in one long shock after another.
As she saw the taser coming into contact with Cal’s body, Wright fought her restraints harder, calling for him to stop from the top of her lungs, but the sound never made it through.
After what seemed an eternity, the shocking stopped, and Harris collapsed back to the table sweating and gasping for air. It was clear he was in terrible pain. At that moment, Tomas caught glimpse of Molly and noted she was awake. With a wicked smile, he turned back to Cal. “I see Molly is awake… too bad she had to see you in such a condition. But I must give you credit…” He hissed. “… I’ve seen lesser men beg for mercy long before this.” The smile wiped from his face as he leaned forward, laying the taser on Cal’s right cheek. “I guess…” He tased the Marine’s face with a half second pulse and Cal screamed. “… I’m going to have to take it out on her for you being such a tough egg to crack.” Harris looked to Molly, fear was in his eyes liked she’d never seen. A tear rolled down his cheek as he looked at her through tear-rimmed eyes, he mouthed two words I’m sorry. Closing his eyes and rolling his head back upright, the next words told Molly all she needed to know about Cal’s decision. “Calvin Alexander Harris, Colonel, SEC-8702857-1836”
The fear in Harris’s eyes as their gaze met was something that Molly would never be able to forget. As the words left Cal’s lips, she knew the choice he had made. Looking up to the ceiling, Wright took a deep breath, trying to prepare herself to what was coming. She could deal with it. She had been trained for it. And she had trained with Tomas. She could do it. Exhaling deeply, she waited, a very short wait.
Tomas was furious. He struck Harris upside the head with the taser handle and stormed towards Molly. Throwing the door open, he stalked to Molly’s side and then slapped her harder than she had ever been struck in her entire life. A moment later, still dazed from the slap, Wright would feel the fire from the taser coursing painfully through her entire body. And then again, and again, and again until she lost count.
All the preparing in her life would never have prepared her for what came next. Molly wanted to scream but her voice was stuck in her throat. Eventually, the pain numbed her enough that her mind didn’t seem to care anymore. She lost track of time, of Dubois’s movements, and when her body collapsed back on the table, she had lost track of what was happening.
Finally stopping, he stormed back to the door between them and shouted at Harris. “You can end this you know?! One little code and you can save her life. Give me the Codes, Colonel… or I will kill her. Do you really want another woman you love to die for things you were too scared to say?”
Condor
Tomas’s words helped Molly remember why they found themselves in such a predicament. The planet, the crash, her former colleague’s obsession with getting the Dresden’s command codes… why did he want them, anyway?
Slowly, Wright felt her strength coming back. It was now of extreme importance that she could free herself from the table. Even more so than before, now that Molly knew the extent of what Tomas was willing to do to get what he wanted. They needed to get out, or they would die there.
Testing her restraints again, Molly knew she couldn’t free herself. Instead, another thought sprung into her mind. Breathing deeply, Wright called out.
“Tomas… that won’t be necessary. I can give you the information you’re looking for.”
- Capt. Wright, CIO
Walking slowly toward the table, Tomas watched every move Molly took. His eyes, for a brief moment, betrayed the man’s thoughts as his eyes lingered on Molly’s rising and falling chest. His dark eyes snapping back to hers, the Intelligence Officer leaned down… a cocked smile across his face. “Oh really now?” Tomas purred. “Sounds like ol’ Calvin been giving you more than just a… good time.” The smirk on his face ended suddenly and sharply, Tomas leaned even closer and said coldly. “Do not play with me Wright. I have… very special plans for the Dresden.”
Molly shuddered at Dubois’s words. Special plans for the Dresden? What could he possibly want with their ship? She imagined a world where Tomas had put his hands on the dreadnaught… and worse… on the crew… Wright shook her head to dismiss the thoughts. It took all the strength in her body not to spit on his face as he came closer. However, she hadn’t missed the path his eyes had took… Maybe she could have used that to her advantage…
Giving Molly another passing glance of her body, Tomas asked. “Now… what do I have to do to get the code for my new flagship, Captain?” The closer he got to Molly, the more the fire burned in Cal’s eyes. It was clear to Molly that, if given the opportunity, the Marine would pummel him to death with his bare hands.
Condor
Molly took in a deep breath before speaking – partly to calm herself down, and partly to make her part more convincing. “I heard everything you told Harris… but I think you know that.” Wright chuckled lightly. After all, they both had gone through the same training, and they both knew everything about the kind of room they were in. She sighed in resignation. “And I think you’re right… I’m a child compared to him. I’m not sure what I was thinking… coming after all the baggage he carries. A deceased ex-wife… a daughter that is almost as old as my sister…” She scoffed. “I see it now. I see why I fell for him…” Molly looked at Tomas. A look of realization in her gaze. “It was nothing more than a rebound.” She paused and hesitated slightly before continuing. “The truth is… I miss Ryan. After we left the Farm… nothing was the same. The reality of having lost my ship hit me. I ended up breaking off my own engagement… I was lost… I didn’t know whom to turn to. And… there he was. A friend I hadn’t seen in a while. He asked me to come on board his ship… he’s a Marine… just like Ryan. So I fell.”
Tomas raised an eyebrow and moved closer to Molly. He watched her carefully, making a point not to stray too close to the table where she was restrained.
Molly sighed as if confessing to what she had just described had taken a weight off her shoulders. She gave Tomas a soft coy-ish smile. “Thank you for giving me clarity.” For a second, Wright bit her lip as if she was pondering on whether or not she should say what was on her mind.
Nodding confidently, Tomas gave a soft huff of a chuckle. “Of course…” A slight smile crossed his lips as he took a step forward. “… I’m happy I could be of… assistance.” He now smirked. “Is there anything else you’d like to…”His eyes scanned her upper torso. “… get off your chest?” He finished as his eyes returned to hers.
“Harris gave me the Command codes you need for the Dresden.” Molly glanced at Cal for a moment. She knew he couldn’t hear her, and if they made it out alive, she knew he would beg her to tell him about the conversation she was having right now. “But now that he can’t hear us, I think that you and I could help each other out. The crew won’t respond to you if you take over the ship… and let’s face it… you need a crew to man a ship that size. The XO is a inexperienced girl… English… recently married. You can easily send her back to Earth and she will gladly take it.” Wright paused wondering if Dubois already knew where she was going with this. When she finally spoke, she said so half pleadingly. “Take me with you.” She took a breath. “Think about it… a warship like the Dresden. Commanded by two Intelligence Officers… There’s a whole war room that you can use as your bridge… we’d be feared. And all the while…” Wright stopped, licking her lips before carrying on. “I could teach you what Ryan taught me inside closed doors…” She winked. “If you get my drift.” She smirked.
Tomas took a sharp breath… his mind racing. Remembering all he had heard through the walls at The Farm. Not just what her former flame did for her… but what she could do for him before they left. With a visible shiver, Tomas closed the remaining distance between them and cupped the left side of Molly’s chest as he leaned forward… eyes hungry. “Is that....” This time, Tomas licked his lips. “… an invitation Molly?” Pausing, he added. “When do I get the codes?”
“I can give you the codes when we’re on board and you’re settled in… as for Harris…” She looked at Cal again. This time with a little disdain in her gaze, trying to make the theatrics of her piece work. “We can leave him to the Jem’Hadar… I’m sure they would be happy.”
Biting her lip, Molly asked her former colleague. “What do you think?”
Capt. Wright, CIO
“Sounds good” Tomas said, already breathing heavier. “How about the other end on our… arrangement?” As he asked this, his left hand disengaged the restraints… the legs first, then Molly’s wrists. Taking in another long, desiring look at Molly from head to toe and back, Tomas asking eagerly. “Here, or my quarters?” He bit his lip as he took her in again.
Tomas
Molly’s heart ran faster as she heard the table’s restraints disengage. It was working.
Once she was completely free, Wright sat up on the table, facing Tomas. She smiled at her former colleague, and all she hoped for was that Harris would forgive her for what she was about to do.
“I don’t know…” Molly said flirtatiously. Her hands sat on his shoulders as she hopped off the table and her feet finally touched the ground. Her eyes were on him the whole time as she gave Dubois a seductive smile. “Why wait?” Slowly, Molly’s arms wrapped around his neck as her lips met his in a strong passionate kiss. Steadily, almost seductively, one of Wright’s hands slid down to the middle of his chest, her fingers grazing his shirt…
Tomas’ heart raced and his breathing became shallow as Molly wrapped her arms around him. She was someone he had wanted for so long. Under any normal circumstances, a trained intelligence officer wouldn’t be so apt to drop his guard but his desire for the redhead had simmered within him for so long… it was literally overpowering some of the most intense training imaginable. As her fingers grazed his shirt, Dubois growled and leaned hard into the kiss.
As Cal watched Molly passionately kiss Dubois he pulled hard at the restraints, tears streaming down his face, his voice gone from his earlier screams of agony… the Marine ‘screamed’ “No!” in a barely audible tone. Fighting against the table, Cal watched helplessly as Molly appeared willing to do anything to save him. Watching the woman he loved throwing herself at Dubois was too much strain on his weakened state and a moment later, Harris blacked out.
In a quick move, Wright’s knee sprung upwards, hitting Dubois right between his legs. Before he could react, the hand on his chest grabbed his shirt and pulled with force, and Tomas’s forehead crashed violently with the table Molly had been on just a few moments before.
The second the knee struck him, Tomas knew it was all a ploy… and knew that he had less than a moments consciousness. Painfully stunned from the knee, Dubois crumpled and could only watch in a flash of terror as his face hit the edge of the table. His last conscious thought confirming the worst.
As she wiped her lips with the back of her hand, Molly turned to Dubois, a look of disgust in her eyes and a victorious smirk on her face. “Why don’t we do it here?”
Capt. Wright, CIO
Dubois was in a pile on the floor, blood from the head strike pooling around him. It was without a doubt, as he breathed but made no sound, that he was still alive but no longer a threat.
Harris/Dubois
As Dubois’s body touched the ground, Molly sighed in relief. She gave herself a moment to catch her breath, but she knew she didn’t have a lot of time.
Through the glass, Molly could see Cal unconscious as well. The slow raising and falling of his chest told Wright all she needed to know. But before she could even think about setting Harris free, if they wanted to have any chance of getting out alive, Molly needed to find the weapon she had brought with her. She had holstered it inconspicuously underneath her dress tunic but when she had awaken in the base they had been transported to, she no longer had it. Wright had been the only armed member of the away team and even then she wasn’t sure the other knew she had brought her faithful pistol with her. To the Jem’Hadar, it would have been nothing but an old piece of Earth weaponry, but Tomas was intelligence. He knew why she carried it with her, and he knew she would be looking for it.
Wright knew the room she was in. After all, it was an Intelligence setup. She had been trained in them. Because of that, Molly knew the kind of security that covered the existing storage places. Most of them were voice print activated, and if Tomas had bothered to close her weapon in one of those, she didn’t stand a chance. However, it was unlikely that Dubois had bothered with that many safety walls. Especially when he had his two prisoners under heavy restraints. All he needed was a place where he knew no one but himself would have access to.
As she looked around, Molly spotted a small line of cabinets on one of the walls. Usually, these were used to store objects relevant to the interrogation occurring in the room at the time. And they were fingerprint activated. Without much care, Wright dragged Tomas’s body to them, and one by one, opened each of the doors and drawers until, in a small tray next to harnesses and miscellaneous tools, she found what she had been looking for.
A smile spread on Molly’s lips as she placed the pistol back on its holster. For the first time on their fateful trip, Wright felt whole. With one last glance at Tomas, she strode to the room where Calvin was.
Up close, the Marine looked even worse. But Molly didn’t have a lot of time to think about his injuries, as her fingers expertly lined up the table looking for the button that would disengage the restraints around his body. Right now there was no time to grieve. Only time to escape. It was only a matter of time until Dubois woke up, and the Jem’Hadar should be just around the corner.
As Cal’s body was finally freed from the table, Wright looked around, pondering how she was going to wake him up. Her leg might be patched up but there was no way she was able to carry him to the exit. Assuming she could find one on time. Her eyes fell over a bucket full of water. Judging by the dripping pattern around it, she was quite sure what it had been used for. She shook her head, shielding her mind from the thoughts rushing in. Taking the heavy bucket in her arms, Molly held it as steadily as she could before pouring half of its contents on Harris’s face.
Capt. Wright, CIO
With a groan of pain and a gasp of shock, Harris jolted awake… fists clenched and powerful arms tugged at the restraints.
“I’ll kill you if you hurt her!” The Marine growled in a frightening tone so unexpected, it would even catch Molly off guard. “Where is she, you bastard!?” Harris snapped, his eyes clearly not focusing. After a moment more of fighting, Harris looked… through(?)… Molly for a few seconds as his eyes finally got their focus back. Cal’s blue eyes practically glowed as they fell on her, his voice catching as he spoke. “Molly… how the… are you OK?”
Molly had taken a step back. She knew better than to stay within the range of the Marine as she poured the water on his face.
Still in escape mode, Molly nodded at Cal’s question without much else as a second thought. Her fingers helped his legs and wrists out of the places where the restraints had been.
The Marine looked like death warmed over. Both eyes blackened, nose broken and at least two teeth were missing. Up close, Molly could better see the damage Tomas had done to the man she loved.
Harris
When Wright’s eyes finally crossed his face, the anger bottled inside her grew stronger. She assumed she didn’t look too well herself… but right now she was just happy he was alive. There was no point to worry about Cal’s health if they didn’t manage to get out of the place.
Molly helped Cal to a sitting position and finally, tried to get him back on his feet. She worked fast, and in silence, almost as if the ‘treatment’ Tomas had given her hadn’t affected her at all. It was not true, but right now, just like when she had ran away from home, adrenaline guided her movements, and she could not feel the two broken ribs in her chest nor the burns that the taser had left behind.
Harris took a ragged breath and sat up from the interrogation bed. Wincing as he did from the amount of damage to his body, Cal was still clearly in a state of shock. As the light had shifted on his face, it was even more clear the horrific injuries Tomas had wrought on the once dashing former fighter pilot.
“Come on, we need to go. Tomas is bound to wake up at any moment and the Jem’Hadar should be just around the corner. We need to leave now or we might not leave at all…”
Harris would know these were the most words he would get out of her at this time. Wright’s brain was focused, attentive to every sudden movement around them and right now, trying to plan their best way to escape. Plus, Cal knew she didn’t play well with other kids when in circumstances like the ones they found themselves in.
Cal simply nodded. It was clear from the expression on his face that his body and mouth were in intense pain.
As she scanned the room around them and their possible escape routes, Molly knew Cal would not be able to help her, but she couldn’t carry him either. Wright hoped that Cal would be able to walk and follow her until they reached safety.
Harris head was clearing as he sat there, slowly things were clicking back into place. Suddenly, Cal grabbed Molly’s wrist to get her attention and then snapped his eyes to the back of the room they were in. There it was, plain as day. Their key to freedom.
With Cal’s sudden hold of her wrist, Molly turned to him and then to the direction his eyes motioned to. In her hurry to get out, Wright hadn’t even noticed the terminal on the wall. She smiled victoriously as her fingers squeezed Harris’s hand gently.
The Starfleet Intelligence Interface System (SiS for short) was the terminal network that linked all Intel Installations to Intel HQ and… if you knew what you were doing… the mainframes of Starfleet Command. The terminal granted authorized users intimate access to every network, communication channel and resource of the Federation. It also controlled every door, light, camera and toilet in the base they were now in.
Tapping the keys almost frantically, Molly logged in her credentials and biometrical information. Her face lighting up as the system allowed her in. From there, she pulled everything she needed to know: base schematics, security feeds, guard locations… trying her best to find a way out of there and back to safety.
In the adjacent room, the crumpled form of Tomas DuBois slowly began to move on the floor.

Molly’s mind was focused in the task at hand and she didn’t notice the small movements that were coming back to Dubois’s body.
Capt. Wright, CIO
The terminal sprang to life, instantly connecting Molly to the LCARS network, Fleet Intel and Starfleet Command. The map of the base, and the location of every living being in it outside of the two rooms they were in. That’s when she saw the shuttle, less than a hundred meters down the corridor to the right. If she secured the blast doors to protect their path to the bay, she would only have to face two Jem’Hadar troopers on her way to freedom.
Yes! It was the happiest Molly’s face had been ever since the beginning of the mission. The shuttle… it was everything they needed. The only issue being how they were going to get to it. Tapping away, she secured the blast doors and took a mental note of the positions of the Jem’Hadar soldiers that they would meet on their way to the hangar. Aside from that, everything should be fine.
Before she logged out and was ready to run, she tapped her way into the communications hub and sent a quick message to the Dresden through her own encrypted channel.
Little did Molly know that her credentials being logged in, unmasked, in such a long dormant base would trigger an internal security protocol alerting the nearest Starfleet Intelligence ship in the sector.
With her trademark ballerina bun gone, Wright expertly tucked her hair inside the back of her collar. She had long promised her sister and her dad that she wouldn’t cut it, but at this point she was starting to regret it.
Taking her pistol from her holster, Molly turned to Cal: “Let’s go.”
Capt. Wright, CIO
It was then that the form of Tomas DuBois filled the door of the other interrogation room, his eyes ablaze in fury. “STOP!” His voice boomed before he ran straight at Molly. Cal moved his broken body between Tomas & Molly at last moment, catching the eight inch blade of DuBois’ tactical knife in his chest.
Condor/Harris
“NO!” Molly’s scream filled the room as she saw the man she loved jump off the bed and run between her and her former colleague. The blade burying itself in the Marine’s chest.
As Cal’s body fell to the ground, Molly’s anger finally spilled over and a fury that she hadn’t felt in a long time took over her body. She hadn’t brought a phaser with her, instead she had brought her pistol, an old Earth model she carried after her training on defense tactics against the Borg. She found it particularly useful against species used to operate energy weapons. And right now, it was all she had. In a fit of rage, she discharged the twelve rounds it carried in Tomas’s direction until he was no longer a threat.
The explosive, rapid concussion of the 1911 roaring to life in Molly’s shaking hands violently echoed from the walls as all twelve rounds hit there mark, sending Tomas stumbling back with each shot, the final knocking him backward over a toppled chair. He was dead before his body hit the floor, the twelve .45 caliber rounds planted firmly in his chest.
Kneeling by Cal’s side, Molly dropped her weapon beside her and her hands searched his chest. She could barely see through her tear rimmed eyes but she could feel him breathing faintly. “Calvin! Stay with me. Stay with me. Please stay with me!” Her lips uttered the words, over and over, almost like a mantra, as she pulled the blade out and tried to inspect the severeness of the wound. She knew the marine wouldn’t be able to walk anywhere like this. She needed a medkit and she needed it now!
Cal was starting to shake, his tear rimmed eyes flashing with panic. He gasped and coughed when Molly removed the blade but he did not cough up blood. Wright would know instantly that meant Cal’s left lung and more importantly, his heart, were missed by the knife. However, he was bleeding heavily and needed medical attention as soon as possible.
Taking her previously gold tunic off and ripping strips of fabric from it, she crumpled one of them and placed it inside Cal’s hand. Taking it over the wound she spoke in a trembling voice. “Press this. Please. I’m going to find a medkit.” The room they were in was a standard interrogation room. All of them had medkits. And Wright knew exactly where. Hurriedly, Molly ran to find get what she needed and when she came back, she opened the small box, spreading its contents on the floor. She frantically looked for a dermal regenerator. It was not the solution, but it would make sure Cal didn’t bleed to death.
The combat trained Marine did as he was told, his Intel training leading him in his mind to the Medkit just a few feet from were he lay. He focused, trying to numb the pain in his broken body, knowing damn well that… strong as she might be… there wasn’t a chance in hell of Molly carrying him out. Especially if they had to fight their way out.
Kneeling by his side, Molly tore Cal’s tunic revealing his Marine Corps undershirt. They would be lucky if the gunshots hadn’t alerted the two Jem’Hadar that were left to deal with and put them on their way to the room. She pointed the small device at Cal’s wound and let it work its magic. She then proceeded to wrap his chest and shoulder in the torn remnants of her tunic. For now, that was all she could do.
His face silently contorted in pain as the regenerator sealed his chest. Cal did his best to hold his arm still as Molly patched him to leave.
With a soft hand on his good shoulder, Wright asked the Marine. “I found as a shuttle out of here. Can you walk?”
Capt. Wright, CIO
Harris nodded slowly, without a word, then gently climbed to his feet. Looking at Molly, his blue eyes looked… dull… hollow… like he was fading away behind them. Closing his eyes and shaking his head for a moment, he opened his eyes once more… the brilliant bright blue blazing back… and as he stood himself to his full height, said in a rough voice “I… I… I… love you Molly. Let’s… go home.”
Col. Harris
There was no time to lose, especially in the situation they were in. But Molly allowed herself a second to take in the Marine as he got to his feet. She smiled. A pang of guilt hitting her inside as she finally saw exactly how badly beat up and bruised Calvin was. “I love you too, Calvin.” She sighed and then reached up and planted a soft kiss on his cheek. “Let’s go home.”
A soft smile crossed Cal’s face as they got him to his feet.
Molly picked up her pistol from the floor and holstered it back on her side. It was useless without ammunition, but she wasn’t going to leave it there. They desperately needed to find something else to defend themselves with. She walked to the weapons cabinet and took two compression phase rifles, she gave one to Cal and kept the other.
Gripping the CPR firmly in his good hand, Harris shoved the butt back into his shoulder. His eyes notably focused on the way out.
Giving the Marine’s hand one last squeeze, Wright took a deep breath and asked. “Ready? Let’s go.” and opened the door into the main corridor.
Capt. Wright, CIO
Moving with Molly, Cal walked with a limp but was fairly agile considering. Wright would hear Cal focusing his breathing as they reached the door.
The second Molly opened the door, a phaser blast struck the door just above the handle currently in her left hand. The door dissipated most of the blast but the shock through the door stunned Molly’s hand. Two Jem’Hadar ran toward them, yelling and firing repeatedly.
As the blast struck the door, Molly felt the current go through the metal of the lever and into her hand. With a grimace of pain she instinctively took her hand out and shook it with her fingers spread trying to shake the numbness away.
It happened before she could react. Cal shoved by Molly hard from behind, sending him crashing across the corridor… into a spot that provided him with cover from which to return fire. Though his right leg and back appeared scorched by phaser fire, he did not appear hit.
Wright glanced at Harris as he positioned himself across the corridor firing at the oncoming men. He seemed unscathed from the action.
Looking to Molly, Harris jerked his head toward the approaching shocktroopers and drew his rifle to his shoulder. Then Molly saw his right hand on the weapons handle, three fingers out… then two… then one.
Looking in the direction Cal had motioned towards, Molly did the same. Putting the riffle to her shoulder, she placed her own fingers on the trigger. Her left hand fingers, as she was standing on the right side of the corridor. But as she aimed at the Jem’Hadar soldier across the hall, she realized pulling the trigger would be harder than she had anticipated.
As Harris slipped the last finger into the trigger of the CPR, he brought the barrel around the pylon and began firing at the troop on Molly’s side of the corridor.
Harris
With her left hand fingers still numb from the blast she couldn’t completely feel the pressure she was putting on the trigger. Her shots were coming out a little clunkier and slower than normal, but she was hitting the necessary mark.
Capt. Wright, CIO
For the less than 15 seconds it lasted, it was by far the most intense 15 seconds of Molly’s life. The Jem’Hadar bearing down on them, Cal dropped his trooper… who was slightly behind Molly’s. At almost the same moment, Molly’s trooper blasted her CPR from her hand and charged… a large, sharp blade over a foot long tied to the barrel. It was happening so fast, Molly would find herself in a “flash before her eyes” moment when suddenly. CRACK!
With both hands firmly around the barrel of his discharged CPR, Calvin bashed the unobservant charging Jem’Hadar over the head with the rifle. It was clear from the way the trooper collapsed to the floor that he was very dead. With his energy exhausted, Cal collapsed to the deck clutching his left shoulder.
