Katie held the embrace for several more moments, enjoying Chavez’s touch as well as the soft whisper of the ocean waves behind them. Finally, she pulled back from him so that she could meet his eyes. “Well, this took an awkward turn,” she commented with a laugh, hoping that he wouldn’t be offended by her observation of the situation. “Should we resume our walk or are you ready to turn in for the night? This has been a lot for you.” The counselor’s defenses were slowly shifting back into place after her initial reaction to Chavez’s kiss and she could feel herself steadying as a result.

Domingo’s eyes were smoldering with a burning desire, his skin was warm to the touch, and his adrenaline was still surging. Lifting his hands to cup the sides and back of Katie’s head he leaned forward and initiated another kiss, with more passion and less timidness. He was letting his actions speak for him, he was rejecting both options very clearly.

Katie’s eyes widened as he initiated the kiss, but she didn’t run this time. It did take quite a bit of strength not to flinch away from Chavez’s grasp, but as the kiss continued, she found herself slowly relaxing and her eyes drifting shut. After a few moments, she leaned back slightly and whispered, an impish grin coming across her features, “that wasn’t one of the options.”

Domingo smirked slightly, a quivering up of the corner of his lips, and responded, “We’re not here as patient and counselor right now. Don’t distance yourself behind your professional wall.”

He led the way closer to the water before having a beach towel materialize and sitting down on it, while putting his feet into the water.

Katie rolled her eyes at Chavez, not completing agreeing to his statement. While they weren’t precisely in that dynamic at the moment, it had been as a counselor that she had suggested this entire idea in the first place. She just hadn’t known where it would go. Shaking her head slightly in amusement at herself, she accompanied Chavez closer to the water and smiled as he arranged the beach towel. She sat next to him and gave his chest a gentle push until he was lying down, curling up with her head on him. Before long, exhaustion from the long, emotional day combined with the sweet, soothing sound of the ocean waves had slowed her breathing and lulled her to sleep beside him.
