Domingo followed her lead towards the ocean lightly kicking the sand along the way.

“I only got a chance to visit this beach after joining Starfleet. My grandmother and I lived more inland, not near any beaches. I brought her to the beach right after graduating from the academy. She’d seen oceans and beaches before, but she fell in love with this one the moment she saw it. I don’t know if you’ve ever been to the beach in Cabo, but I wanted to share this with you after you’ve been so nice.”

He smiled a little shyly after that confession and looked at his feet as they continued the stroll.

Katie silently listened to Chavez’s story as she led the way to position them so the waves would just brush over their feet as they walked along the coast. In response to his question, she shook her head lightly, her hair fluttering due to the combination of movement and the slight sea breeze off the ocean. A content smile crossed her face as she looked up at Chavez, her cheeks flushing pink again at his compliment. “It’s my pleasure,” she replied softly, barely audible. Her more pronounced response came in a squeeze of his hand as they meandered along the coastline. “Thank you for sharing it with me. I much prefer a walk along the ocean to meditation.” She emphasized her point with a wry grin at her rather patient teacher.

“Well some methods of relaxation are better than others.” Domingo smiled wryly, “I’d choose a stroll on a beach every time, but access and time both make the difference in what you can choose.”

They had both been walking for a few minutes before he gathered some courage and stopped his steps. When she stopped and turned in his direction he pulled her closer to him and into his embrace. He looked into her eyes before closing his eyes, leaning in and closing the distance, their lips converging.
