For a trained Starfleet counselor, Katie seemed to have little control over the appearance of her own emotions across her face and Chavez’s comment led to quite the parade of them: first, a soft pink flush of the cheeks at the sweet compliment; then, a deeper red flush of embarrassment, and finally, a pallor as the briefest amount of both fear and anger flitted through her eyes. Before long, however, her pleasant smile had returned and she nodded at Chavez. “Why don’t you let me know when you’re off shift and we’ll figure out where to meet up?” she replied, finally, her question not sounding particularly much like a question. She opened her mouth again to speak, but closed it again quickly, leaving the question where it stood, alone.

Domingo observed the fast flowing changes in emotions across the Counselor’s face, surprised and concerned at the last of it. He caught himself wondering what lay behind such a reaction, as he thought his compliment was innocent enough while still being honest. Taking an effort to set this lingering thought aside in his mind, Domingo listened to her final… statement?

Blinking his eyes to take this shift in strike, Domingo responded, “I’m off shift now actually. I don’t suppose that’d be too short of notice though? Also, were there any other question that you had or am I psychologically fit for duty?”
