Katie stared at the light blue ceiling of her office as she relaxed on one of the overstuffed cream and brown couches in her office. Folding her arms behind it, she cradled her head in her hands as she resisted the urge to go let her eyes sink shut. It would only be a short time before her duty shift was over, she thought to herself encouragingly. Then, she could go back to her quarters, put on her pajamas, and curl up with a meal. Sighing in delighted anticipation, she moved one of the arms under her head, shifting her other arm to use the crook of her elbow as a pillow, and reached for a nearby PADD, determined to spend the last few moments of her duty shift in productivity.

The door to the Counselor’s office chimed. Standing outside was Ensign Chavez, reporting for the psych eval he hadn’t had a chance to perform yet.

“Enter!” came a soft but commanding voice from within the office. As the door slid open, Katie tossed the PADD to the floor beside the couch and slid first to a seated position and then to her feet. Smiling welcomingly at the visitor, she queried, “hello, Ensign, what can I do for you?”
