Katie froze as Domingo’s hand reached out and she let out the breath she didn’t realize she was holding as the hand stopped as a voice interrupted.

Domingo did not take notice of the change in reaction of the CNS as his focus was diverted by the new arrivals.

OOC: Sorry, just popping a couple of bits back in case Cass wants to respond
OOC: Thank you Em

He turned his head to meet the new voice and gave a brief nod of greeting before responding, “You’re probably also correct Ma’am, but if intruders were only two decks up then we could be in imminent danger. I’ll consent to getting checked over as long as you can patch me up enough to move around and fight if it comes to that. I’m afraid we may not have the luxury for more than that right now.”

Ensign Chavez, Sec

The CMO frowned, looking a lot less stern than she was aiming for with the wiggling ball of fluff in her arms, “We will cross that bridge when we come to it. For now-“

A rush of relief came over Charlie as she heard the familiar voice of the CMO. As she wiped a tear away, she gave Enj a quick scratch on the head before instinctively hugging Janvier, pushing all protocol aside momentarily. She let out a quick gasp as the pain in her side rose to the surface again but she hastily gritted her teeth and pushed it to the back of her mind. “Are you alright doctor? Are you injured?” she asked, quickly shifting the focus back to Janvier.

Dr Bailey

Janvier took a step back in surprise when Charlie hugged her. Returning it somewhat awkwardly with Enj wiggling exitedly and trying to lick at Charlie’s face. As Charlie stepped backward Enj finally escaped out of Janvier’s arms to land with more of a cat like grace than a dog like one on the floor. “Enj stay,” the doctor ordered quietly, her eyes scanning Charlie having not missed the wince. “We’re fine. We had to hide in one of the Jefferies tubes to avoid the intruders, but we’re unharmed. You look a little worse for wear though Ensign,”

Charlie gave a weak smile and nodded, “I haven’t had the best day so far…” she admitted through gritted teeth, “but then I’ve fared a lot better than these guys,” she added, gesturing to the steadily growing number of patients.

Katie watched the doctors descend on them and gave a small smile to Chavez. “Well, it looks like you’re in good hands now,” she offered, softly, only for him to hear, and then turned her attention to Bailey and Janvier.

Lt Cmdr Nunn, CNS

Domingo side-glanced at Katie after her soft message and responded with a slight nod and modest smile before turning his attention back to the doctors.

Ensign Chavez, Sec

“Doctor Janvier, I don’t believe we’ve met, I’m Commander Nunn, the ship’s counselor,” she hurriedly introduced herself, not bothering to extend her hand for any pleasantries. “This man has a concussion,” she pointed at the security officer before continuing, “and this woman has some serious internal stuff going on, as evidenced by her wince.”

Lt Cmdr Nunn, CNS

Bailey shook her head and gave the counselor a quick eye roll. “I think we need to work on your doctor-patient confidentiality counselor,” she said dryly as they turned their attention back to Chavez. She pulled her standard issue phaser out and set it down next to Chavez. “I know it’s not much but even with a concussion you’re probably a better aim than I am if we get unwanted intruders, but until then just lie back and let us help you,” she said sternly as she flipped open her tricorder and passed it to Janvier.

Dr Bailey

Katie stuck her tongue out at Bailey behind the back of the CMO, although Chavez may have caught sight of it. Leaning against the bulkhead nearby, she waited to see if her assistance was needed, although with two medical personnel here now, she doubted it.

Lt Cmdr Nunn, CNS

As the Counsellor and the other doctor were speaking, the CMO had already pulled her tricorder out and was scanning Chavez, making sure that a concussion was all that he had. “I’ll check you out in a minute Bailey,” she said as she worked, “If the intruders are as close as Commander Nunn suggests it would be nice to have a Security Officer in Sickbay. Somehow I don’t think Enj is going to be much in the way of protection.” She glanced back to where Enj had strayed from the spot she had told him to stay and and was now wagging his tail happily as he sniffed around the Counsellors legs. “He’s a therapy dog of sorts,” she explained for the Counsellors benefit. “He’s often in Sickbay with me. I find he keeps the patients calm.”

“And clean!” Charlie added with a smirk, referring to Enj’s fondest for licking. She took another quick look over at Michaels who was administering another dose of painkiller to their first patient. She quickly made a thumbs up sign to check the young nurse was ok. Michaels still looked a bit in shock but quickly returned the the thumbs up to indicate all was well as Charlie breathed a sigh of relief. “One down…” she muttered as she looked at the mounting casualties. “Where do you need me doctor?” she asked Janvier, grateful to have her expertise. She hoped it wouldn’t be a burn victim but if it was, she would deal with it. Popping a tight lid on her personal experiences, she stood ready with her tricorder.

Dr Bailey

Elaine paused in her scans. Ideally she wanted triage done, the more serious patients stabilised, then Security officers back on their feet so they could continue to defend the ship, then everyone else. But as she glanced at Charlie, she knew she was going to have to make a different order. With Charlie injured to an unknown degree, Elaine wanted her nearby so she could keep an eye on her. With any luck the injury was just a bruised or broken rib, but if the injury was worse… Charlies adrenaline would only hold it back for so long…

“I want you on broken bones and any minor scrapes and burns, treat the Security and Engineering officers first, at least until I’ve had a look at you. Stay nearby, I don’t want to play hide and seek after I’ve finished with this patient.” She smiled gently letting Charlie know she was joking. She’d passed a couple of yellow shirts a couple of beds down, one looking like she had a broken arm. Hopefully they would keep Charlie occupied until the CMO was done. It wasn’t the most stimulating of tasks, but broken bones were just complicated enough that the Ensign might not suspect she was being given light tasks on account of the Janviers concern for her.

OOC: Just to keep you up to date, the sneaky CNS took a scan of Charlie earlier and she has a couple of cracked ribs, a badly bruised kidney and some internal bleeding from a small laceration in her liver so has been self medicating herself with painkillers and a shot of Lectrazine :)

IC: Charlie nodded with relief that she didn’t have to face any of the burn victims just yet. As she turned to go, she realised in her haste, she hadn’t even briefed the CMO. “Nurse Bigalow is running triage with several of the nursing staff, I’ve ordered Medic Kaminsky to take the walking wounded to cargo bay 6 and set up an emergency overflow, I figured it was going to get a little crowded in here. Nurse Michaels has just finished working on our first patient and Medic Alan has been helping with the more difficult cases. Our friendly EMH is currently on door duty as you no doubt saw on the way in…” she rattled the list off as she tried to discretely probe her tender side again.

“Thank you Ensign,” Elaine said, her eyes tracking Charlie’s hand going to her side worriedly. She gave a gentle smile and turned back to Ensign Chavez, determind to get the man treated as quickly as she could so that she could see to her doctor.

Satisfied that she had given Janvier all the pertinent information she made her way over to a young engineer with an obvious compound break in his arm. She quickly scanned him for any other injuries and breathed a sigh of relief that he was relatively unscathed. As she popped her tricorder away she put a reassuring hand on the young man’s shoulder. “Believe it or not Ensign, you’ve got off pretty easy…” she said quietly as she loaded up 500mg of Bicaridine in a hypospray and gently pressed it into his neck. “We’ll have you out of here in no time…” she added as she got to work.

Dr Bailey

Having knelt down to rub the dog’s ears, Katie watched approvingly at the exchange between Janvier and Bailey. Clearly she’d made the right call in disclosing Bailey’s injury to her superior. Finally standing up from her squatted position, she pushed her blood and sweat soaked hair out of her face as she surveyed Janvier one more time. “I’m happy to help wherever, Doctor, with the caveat that I have no idea what I’m doing other than reading things off a tricorder.”

Lt Cmdr Nunn, CNS

“Any and all help is appreciated wherever you can give it Counsellor.” Elaine passing her tricorder over. “If you could read the scans to me as I work.-Oh no you don’t,” she suddenly said, spinning quickly, and grabbing Enj. The dog gave a small wag of his tail and licked Elaine’s hand, having been caught in the act of trying to jump up onto Chavezs biobed. “He is injured.” she scolded lightly, “You are going to stay at my feet, where I can keep an eye on you. Heel.” She plopped the dog back down and returned to her patient. Enj shook his head indignantly but stayed at her feet obediently.

“Have you been given anything for the pain?” The CMO asked quietly, grabbing a dermal regenerator and visually examining the head wound. Gently probing the edges to test the Security Officers reaction.
