Finishing her task, Katie put away the gel and ensured her hands were free of any remnants of it. She kept her ear out to listen to the officer’s response to Bailey’s question.

Orin barely made out that he was being spoken to. Scans show the usual internal damage associated with short term vacuum exposure.

“I was in a corridor that suddenly filled with light and heat, then dark coldness. I couldn’t breathe and lost consciousness.”

Orin could feel the ship’s distress as structural damage echoed as pain in his own body.

Leaving the actual doctoring to Bailey, Katie hummed sympathetically as she saw the pain reflected in Orin’s eyes. She smiled soothingly and reassuringly commented, “Charlie here will get you fixed up in no time and then we can get you sorting out what’s going on with this ship.” She glanced over at Bailey, hopefully, wishing that her words would be true and he would be able to get back to his post in no time.
