Having completed her check in at Sickbay and her psychological evaluation clearance recorded in her service record, Katie made her way to the CO’s office. She hadn’t had as much time as she would have liked to study the records of each of the crew members, so she felt like she was going into this meeting blind. Of course, it had been a while since she had even met with the CO of a starship in the context of reporting for duty, so this was a new situation all around. She had chosen to wear her Starfleet uniform for the occasion, tucking a loose piece of hair back into her braid as she rang the door chime outside Harris’ office.

Harris was at work behind a pile of PaDDs that covered the large wooden desk, the wall behind him covered with diplomas and awards with the center of the display featuring the TopGun Trophy from his time as a pilot. The Marine was in the traditional Black & Green tunic befitting a senior grade officer of the Starfleet Marine Corps and as the CNS walked in, a striking pair of blue eyes flashed up in greeting and warm smile crossed the man’s face.

“Good morning…” He rose in greeting. “… how can I help you Commander?”
