She bit her lip nervously as Katie worked and cautiously asked her, “…am I crazy?” she said, her voice barely louder than a whisper.

Dr Bailey

“You’re not crazy,” Kate responded, extremely firmly. She stood up from where she had been squatting next to Bailey and held out a hand to help her up. “Let’s go back to somewhere more comfortable and then we’ll talk. You need some water,” she instructed.

Charlie smiled wearily and nodded, “that sounds like a good idea,” she said softly as the counselor helped her up. She winced as her head throbbed from the change of position and a wave of dizziness hit her. She took a deep breath and held on to Kate for support whilst it settled. “Just water?” she asked weakly as they slowly made their way back towards the lounge, “I think I need something stronger than that…” she added with a hint of a pained smiled.

With Kate’s help, Charlie slowly and gently eased herself back onto the sofa and laid down with her head propped up on a couple of cushions. She breathed a sigh of relief as she finally started to relax a bit.

Dr Bailey

Katie was cognizant of the fact that moving probably didn’t feel very good for Bailey at this moment. She helped her get settled onto the sofa and smiled softly at Bailey’s comment. “Well, I may not be a medical doctor, but even I know you don’t mix concussions with alcohol,” she responded with a wink. Making her way back to the kitchen area, she produced a glass of water and a cloth soaked in ice water for Bailey’s head. Bringing both of them to her, she sank down by the doctor’s feet and handed her the items.

“How are you feeling now? Any better?” she asked, studying Bailey carefully to see if she needed to drag her to Sickbay kicking and screaming if necessary.
