Charlie sat wearily at her console, fighting the urge to fall asleep. She hated working the night shift, it was always so boring. So far she had catalogued a handful of cultures they had received from Starbase 187 for medical research, read a thoroughly dry journal about Bolian field medicine and watered the plant in the CMO’s office 3 times.

She had no patients in sickbay currently but someone had to be on call. Lt Calder had come in a couple of hours ago with a mildly sprained ankle from a vigorous game of parisses squares and Ensign Jim had been treated for a headache, and that was it. Charlie yawned out loud and came out into the main sickbay to stretch her legs, hoping that something noteworthy might happen in the next 6 hours.
