The hum of the turbolift quickly faded away as the lift came to a stop. The hum was quickly replaced by a swishing noise as the doors split open. For the first time Cedric set his gaze on the Dresden’s bridge. He purposely took in the moment , and quickly took in a breath of air. Putting his right foot in front of him he moved off of the lift, and walked toward the Ready Room’s closed doors. Using his thumb he pressed the call button on the door chime.

OOC: Great first post! I’m glad to see you are already finding your way around the ship! I should only tell you that you will need to sign off your posts with the rank, name and position/department of your character. In your case, you can use “Ensign Valencia, Security” or some variation that you feel more comfortable with, that way it makes it easier for the other players involved to know who wrote which post. You can also see how I or other members of the crew sign off our posts. Other than that I have absolutely been loving your writing! Keep up the great work! :) – Joana

Before anyone could reply to the new officer’s chime, the Ready Room’s doors swished open and a woman in her early thirties walked out. She carried an expression of annoyance in her face and she seemed surprised when her eyes met those of the young man standing by the Ready Room’s doors.

Standing 5’6’’, the young woman was not too short, but not extremely tall either. She had her dark brown hair pulled up into a messy bun on the back of her head. But while these details might not tell Valencia who she was, her Command Red uniform and the Lieutenant Commander pips on her collar would tell him that she most likely was the Dresden’s XO.

Stopping on her tracks just outside the doors, the woman’s expression quickly changed into a polite smile, before addressing the new arrival. “Can I help you, Ensign?”

Lt. Cmdr. Manning, XO

The Ready Room’s doors opened; inserting themselves into the walls. Cedric was slightly startled to find that a female officer happened to be walking out of the Ready Room at that moment. Ensign Valencia didn’t know everyone currently on the Dresden, but he did manage to remember who the Commanding Officer and Executive Officer were. Cedric didn’t recognize her immediately though. He couldn’t be certain, but he felt like Lieutenant Commander Manning looked differently in the profile picture he was shown. Cedric quickly returned to his normal self, and answered the Executive Officer’s question. “Yes, sir. I am Ensign Valencia. I am reporting for duty on the Dresden.”

Ensign Valencia, Security

Amelia smiled at the new officer. “Welcome aboard, Ensign.” She said joyfully. Her accent was as poshly British as they came. “I’m sure the Colonel will be happy to meet with you right now.” It was customary for new officers to report with their department heads, but Manning knew that a few of them liked to meet with the Commanding Officer as well – and if this guy wanted to start his duties with a trial by fire, who was she to deny him that opportunity.

Turning to the door, Amelia pressed the chime once again, and when the doors opened she slid her head into the office. “There’s someone here to see you, Colonel. Please try to behave with this one.” When she turned back to Valencia, her expression was slightly more victorious than before. It was clear that there was some sort of feud between the Dresden’s Captain and First Officer, however, at the moment, he would have to rest assured it had nothing to do with him.

Lt. Cmdr. Manning, XO

To Cedric, the expression the Lieutenant Commander gave him had him think something wasn’t quite right. In addition, her words to the Colonel seemed unique to what Cedric was familiar with. Still, Cedric returned the smile, “Thank you Commander.”

Ensign Valencia stepped into the Ready Room and looked toward Colonel Harris. Yet, another unique difference about the Dresden. This boat is commanded by a Colonel instead of a Captain. This continued to perplex Cedric as he wasn’t able to find a satisfactory answer to his curiosity. Nonetheless, Cedric stood at attention and announced himself yet again. “Ensign Valencia, sir. Reporting for duty.”

Harris glanced up at the young Ensign and smiled slightly. “Welcome aboard Ensign” Making a hand motion returning the salute, Harris motioned to the chair across from him and nodded. “Grab a seat.”
