The nervous Transporter Chief watched as two pads lit up in his Transporter. He had been waiting for this moment since the shuttle crash and was ready. The moment the shields dropped, he had diverted every ounce of power to the Transporter… even diverting most of the Hanger Bay Artificial Gravity… to boost range. It was /just/ enough.Harris and Wright crashed to the Transporter pad, both immediately gasping for air. Tapping his CommBadge joyfully, the young Lieutenant… tears rimming his eyes… shouted. =A= Transporter Room One to Bridge… we got’em! It’s the Skipper & Captain Wright. Please inform Medical we need a team down here pronto! Transporter Room out.=A=
Manning’s voice was quick to reply. =/\= Thank you, Lieutenant. Great job. Manning out. =/\=
Lt. Cmdr. Manning, XO
Rushing from his console, he grabbed his small medkit and ran to the two downed officers. Grabbing the Marine’s deathly cold arm, the Lieutenant shook the Dresden’s Commanding Officer… it was his bad arm. Harris winced immediately and groaned. “Where the hell are we?” He asked in a raspy voice.
“Back on the Dresden, Skipper…” The Lieutenant sighed in relief. “… welcome home Sir.”

Molly felt the tingling warmth of the transporter beam and then a hard metal surface under her knees as gravity took a hold of her body and pulled her to the floor. Once again, Wright’s body (and Harris’s too) underwent the changes in pressure, from the almost non-pressurized shuttle cabin to the Dresden’s regular pressure environment, only this time at an instantaneous rate. Muffled sounds flooded her ears as pain shot through each of her joints, the trademark symptoms of compression arthralgia.
With her eyes tightly shut, Wright cried out, one desperate sob after another, half from the pain, half from everything that she had been subjected to since their first arrival on Beta Prime. Her arms and hands were drenched in dried blood. There was no telling on whether or not it was hers. Her tunic was ripped apart and tied around Cal’s torso.
Confused, not knowing where she was, Molly remained on the floor. The emotional trauma of the journey was clear, as her body curled up and shook as she sobbed quietly.
Capt. Wright, CIO
The doors slid open and the Chief Medical Officer arrived. He quickly made his way to the Harris’ side and began running a scan. “Captain. Where are you hurt?” he asked calmly.
Vock, CMO
OOC: What do the scans show?
Molly stayed mostly still as the voices around her got clearer. She could hear references to medical teams and someone mentioning the Dresden. She could hear Cal’s voice faintly. Had they… had they made it back? Opening her eyes slightly she inspected her surroundings through what felt like it was blinding light. As her eyes got used to the environment Wright could distinguish the silhouette of a medical officer walking in and heading to Harris. They had made it. They were safe. Cal would be okay… and to her that was all that mattered.
With a trembling breath, Molly’s conscience slipped away.
Harris groaned in pain as the CMO looked him over. Up close, the Marine looked like death warmed over. Both eyes blackened, nose broken and at least two teeth were missing. The damage done to his body was startling and he was still clearly in a state of shock. As the light had shifted on his face, it was even more clear the horrific injuries. Wright’s tunic was tied over a gaping eight inch deep knife wound to his upper left chest, a near fatal wound that JUST missed his left lung, that appeared to have been partially regen’ed.
“Molly?” Harris gasped in a grave tone, his eyes flashing in panic around the room. “Where’s Molly?!” It would take all the CMO had to keep the Marine in place as his sudden burst of strength nearly toppled the man. Seeing her on the floor about two meters away, he lunged for her and called out in a strangled cry. “MOLLY!?” But didn’t have the strength to go further.
As he had cried out, the tear-streaked faced form of Corporal Brianna Reyes blasted into the room. Seeing Cal moving, a loud sharp sob escaped her lips. “Pops!”She cried. Harris raised his good hand at her and waved her to Molly. Without a second word, Jersey darted across the room and slid on her knees to the Intel Chief’s side. “Dammit Bobby!” She barked at the shocked Transporter Chief. “Get yer ass over here! I need another set of hands!”
“Ms. Wright… Ms. Wright…?” Jersey gently shook Molly. “Captain Wright?” Jersey’s hands trembled as Bobby came up beside her, he too on his knees. Handing her a hypo, he said softly. “Ya gotta wake’er up Jersey. Here” Reyes took the hypo and in one move, hit Molly with it. “Captain Wright?” She called once more. “Captain Wright, can you hear me? It’s Jersey. You’re…” Her voice cracked. “… you’re home Molly. You’re home.” Tears rolled down the young woman’s face, her right hand on Molly’s shoulder… her left desperately clutching a small cruciform necklace through her tunic. She was muttering something very soft and very fast in what sounded like Italian. Anyone close that knew the language would recognize it as a simple, desperate prayer.
Harris, CO
As the hypo released its contents into Molly’s blood stream, Wright started to slowly regain consciousness. She could hear her name in the distance, over and over again, uttered by a voice that she could faintly recognize but not quite place.
She could feel hands on her, touching her, shaking her, trying to get her to move… Molly wanted them to go away, to leave her alone. She wanted to get away but she didn’t have the strength. And then the words came. Even though she didn’t know Italian, Molly could recognize the string of words as a prayer, mostly as a result of different encounters with people in San Francisco that had tried to convince her to join their churches.
Molly groaned. She had parted ways with God a long time ago, through the actions of her biological father. Finally regaining some strength, she swung her arm in the direction of the voice, hoping to get across that she didn’t want to be disturbed.
Capt. Wright, CIO
The moment after Molly’s arm swung clear, she was hit… dead center… by one of the tightest hugs she’d ever received. A face was buried into her shoulder, muffled sobs and tunic-soaking tears were all that escaped. “hh… God… u’re OK! Oh… Thank.. Thank.. Thank you!” Came the barely comprehensible words from Molly’s shoulder as Jersey clung tightly to her.
Air escaped from Molly’s lungs as something hit her right in the middle of her chest. Pain shot through her ribcage as her broken ribs screamed to be left alone. Wright knew that particular pain far too well. Her eyes shot open as she tried to understand who seemed to be… hugging her?
She couldn’t see the face buried in her shoulder, so her eyes darted upwards finding those of Transporter Chief Rendon.
“Welcome back Captain…” Came the soft voice of Transporter Chief Lt. Bobby Rendon, who knelt beside Jersey… ever so gently patting her back, not wanting to come off as getting ‘fresh’ but obviously caring enough about her to try and help. But his eyes were on Molly. The Intel types always made him nervous yet he knew (his crush) Jersey was extremely fond of her and raved about the woman on the three ‘dates’ they’d had so far.
Condor/Jersey
Nodding slightly at the Transporter Chief, Molly realized who was crying onto her tunic. “Jersey?” Her arms tried weakly to move the woman away from her chest. “Jersey? I’m okay.” More than anything, Wright’s voice sounded tired. Brianna’s atypical behaviour not even registering in her mind. “You’re… hurting… me…” She said between breaths as the broken ribs in her chest made themselves known once again.
Jersey immediately released Molly as the color drained from her face, her combat training telling her… at least to an extent… Molly’s injuries. “I’m so sorry! I’ll get a medic over here right away.”Snipping on her toes, Brianna barked at the Medic that had reached the room just moments before. “Skip’s got the Doc… get yer ass over here!” The Ensign that had just come in was a fresh-faced Academy Grad on her first tour and looked… at best… as old as Jersey. At the disrespectful tone tossed her way by an enlisted crewman, her eyes flashed with fury for about a half second before the ice in Brianna’s glare chilled her to the bone. Coming along side the Intel Chief, she went straight to work stabilizing the ship’s only other O-6.
Molly gave Jersey a soft glance. She appreciated the gesture. She knew fully well that the priority of the crew would be to make sure that their Commanding Officer was okay, but it was nice to have someone taking care of her own injuries.
Wright knew they were back on the Dresden and that everything would be fine eventually. But her mission was not over until she was sure that the Dresden’s Commanding Officer was safe and sound. Not to mention that… well… she had to know. Through the years they had spent serving together Cal had always been a close friend… and eventually had become more than one. She needed to know he was going to be okay. Without knowing for how long she had been unconscious and without being able to turn her head, Molly asked Jersey through the same tired voice as before “Where’s Cal?”
Capt. Wright, CIO
“He’s with the CMO Molly.” Came Jersey’s quick reply. “He’s out now but looks stable. He called for you just as I got down here. He was the one that sent me to you to make sure you were OK.” Tears were rolling down her cheeks once more. “God…” Her voice cracked as she took Molly’s free hand. “… I thought I’d lost you both.” Then she turned to the Transporter Chief with more love in her eyes than Molly had ever seen from the girl. “It was Bobby that caught you guys. He saved you.” Without another word, she kissed the blushing Lieutenant square on the lips, her hands still tight around Molly’s.
Wright nodded as best as she could between the Medical Ensign’s scans. If there was anyone she could trust to make sure Cal was okay, it was Jersey. The woman had worked with Harris for way longer than Molly ever had, and as far as the Marine was concerned, she was family. However, Wright would never understand why she seemed to mean so much to Jersey as well.
Her hands squeezed the young Marine’s tightly as she spoke, and as Brianna turned to the Transporter Chief, the love in the young woman’s eyes didn’t go unnoticed to the trained Intelligence Officer. A slight smile appeared on her lips but she quickly glanced away from the couple as to give them some privacy – more for the young Lieutenant’s sake. Molly was well aware that Jersey didn’t care.
The second after her eyes returned to Molly, the Transporter Room doors hissed open to find Lieutenant Colonel Ryan York and a woman in a black suit step through into the chaos. York was in the unmistakable “Monster Blacks” of Starfleet Intelligence. With but a glance towards Harris from York, the woman went across the room to the Dresden’s injured Commanding Officer. York went straight for Molly.
Distracted by the people around her, Molly didn’t notice the newcomers arriving.
“Captain Wright…?” Came the smooth tone from the man now towering above the trio huddled around the injured Intel Chief. His eyes gave away to Jersey a level of concern much deeper than that of a Fleet colleague.
Jersey/Bobby/York
The voice was unexpected, but Wright knew immediately who it belonged to. Looking up, her eyes met a face she never thought she would see again. “Ryan…” The name escaped Molly’s lips before she could stop it. Blood rose to her cheeks and the young Medical Ensign would be able to notice the sudden increase in Wright’s heart rate. Her hands left Jersey’s and she tried to sit up, embarrassed that of all the people, he had been the one to see her like this.
The Medical Officer watching Wright’s vitals raised an eyebrow and said very softly. “Chief Wright, I need you to try and stay calm.” And gave Molly an evil eye as she propped herself up.
Molly didn’t seem to process the Medical Officer’s words. In fact, she didn’t even seem to hear them as transfixed as she was in the new arrival. Sitting up, she flinched slightly as her torso shifted with her body position.
It was Jersey that caught the change in tone, the way she said his name, the way he looked at her and she at him. In about a half-second’s time, everything clicked together in Brianna’s mind. As she gazed up at the veritable Greek god standing before her and felt her own heart race as a fantasy or two of her own raced through her head, the only word’s Jersey could managed to say were a breathless. “Oh you gotta be kiddin’ me!”
Clearing her throat, Molly spoke in a more professional tone. “Colonel York… What brings you to the Dresden?”
Capt. Wright, CIO
Ryan knelt beside the Intel Chief and gently brushed a random strand of loose hair from her face, tucking in gently behind her ear. “Thanks for the phone call.” York winked. “We’da never found out about that base being active again had you not logged into the system with your own credentials. Smart Molly… very smart.”
Molly’s lips curled up in a drunken smile as Ryan’s fingers brushed her ear. Her eyes drank him in. And then, a slightly confused expression showed up in her features. “Phone call? Oh…” Wright blushed. It would be the first time Jersey would see the deep shade of red appear in Molly’s cheeks. “It was an accident really… I didn’t think…”
The way he touched Molly had the simultaneous reaction from Jersey of a near audible sigh and the unexpected roar of white hot jealousy as her mind raced into levels of inappropriate she had rarely been brave enough to even explore herself. It took a couple moments for her to calm down and as she did, her thoughts went from dragging the man to her quarters for a little R&R to marching over to Cal and watching in rather sadistic glee as the Marine second-father of hers spaced the interloper.
“Are you feeling up to us having a few words in private?” He asked softly. “I’d really like to know how the frack you ended up in this mess hun.” He smiled the same heart stopping smile he gave Molly did last time they saw each other at graduation.
York/Jersey
Similarly to Jersey, Molly’s mind filled with racing thoughts as York suggested that they meet in private. And then she remembered her broken ribs. Oh, and Cal… She couldn’t do this to him… She had already done it to Ashton and it had cost her their relationship. She couldn’t gamble Harris as well. With a sigh, Wright glanced at Jersey and then back at Ryan. Her heart skipped a beat as he smiled. She still could not believe he was there, standing in front of her. And suddenly, Molly realized how much she had missed him. Her mind took her back to long lost thoughts of what their life would be like if they had met under different circumstances and there was any chance they could be together.
Jersey looked back at Molly with a brilliant flash of red hot rage behind her eyes. It was the kind of look a woman might give another if she were about to beat her to death with her bare hands. However, it was clear of two things… Jersey wasn’t sorry and she dared Molly to say one word against her.
Jersey’s look didn’t go unnoticed to Molly’s eyes. She had never seen rage boiling in the young woman’s eyes, but having dealt with Cal for years, Wright was not surprised. She also knew the loyalty and love Brianna had for for Harris, and no matter how much she liked Molly, if Wright crossed the line, she would suffer the young Marine’s anger. That was the warning behind the gaze in Jersey’s eyes.
Looking down to Molly, Ryan heart had stopped. Remembering the beauty of the woman he had fallen so completely in love with stripped away by… whoever it was down there. Just the thought forced ice through his veins.
“Yeah.” She said with a sigh. Molly looked back at Cal, the ship’s CMO still working on him. He was in good hands, he would be fine. And as far as Wright was concerned, she had lived with broken ribs when she was younger and survived, she would survive with them now.
York offered his hand to Wright to help her up from the deck, eager to just touch her had once more.
Slowly but steadily, Molly stood up, leaving the Medical Officer to examine the empty space she had left behind. “I’m sorry you had to see me like this…” Wright said apologetically. “Would it be okay if we drop by my quarters so I can take a shower and put on some clean clothes first?”
Capt. Wright, CIO
“Like hell you are!” Brianna snapped as she shot to her feet. “You’re gonna… you need to first…” Then, in a rather surprising outburst, Jersey stomped her right foot hard against the deck and after the strangled growl of a scream, Jersey… now eye to eye with Molly… poked the ship’s second most senior officer in the chest with each word as she stressed. “You… will… keep… your… hands… to… yourself.” Then, with her hands firmly in fists held to her side, Jersey stormed off without another word.
Molly’s eyes widened in surprise. She clearly hadn’t expected that reaction from the young Marine. Wright waited in silence and Jersey seemed to struggle with her words. Ryan seem to be doing the same. And then, Brianna finally found what she wanted to say.
Normally, Wright would not flinch. But after their ‘adventure’ in Jem’Hadar land, each time Jersey’s finger touched her chest, it felt like a hot knife stabbed right through it. It hadn’t been just her ribs, but the burn marks left behind by Tomas’s taser-like weapon. Jersey didn’t know. And she had no intention of telling her. Nor Ryan for that matter. Molly would already possibly have to deal with Harris finding out about her former partner and the consequences of that knowledge. She didn’t need to deal with Ryan finding out that Cal had been the one indirectly causing those on her.
With a low cry and with her hands slightly clutching her chest, Molly watched as Brianna left the room. She had never seen such a behaviour from the young Marine. Wright felt a pang of guilt and hurt. On the one hand, she felt guilty for the feelings that coursed through her. But on the other hand, she was hurt by the lack of confidence that Brianna seemed to have in her. Molly glanced at the Transporter Chief.
Ryan watched the young woman storm off, wondering exactly what the frack he’d just missed. Shrugging it off to nothing more than a jealous woman with an axe to grind against Molly. Looking down at the disheveled redhead, Ryan asked with a smile “Shall we?”
Condor
A soft smile made its way into Molly’s lips. “Yes please…” She glanced back at Cal, checking one last time on the Marine’s unconscious form. She kept telling herself that he was going to be okay, but in her mind, other questions swirled… doubts, wishes, things she didn’t even dare think. Her mind went back to Jersey’s sudden outburst.
Weakly, Wright walked out of the room.
