Koria looked at the sensor records more closely. There was something there. Scrolling it back, she slowed it down further and watched it play out again.

“Alright Ensign, what do you have? Because there is definitely a fluctuation here, right before everything started to go haywire at the impulse reactor.”

“Ensign Tass,” Koria said as she snapped her fingers in front of his face. “Are you still here with me Ensign? I need to know what the scans you took show, so I can compare it to what my team at the engine found.”

Sutret’s closer look at the situation moment by moment showed that sudden flare in mass in that region. It was an expanding change, as she would see, but was cut short very quickly with the explosion. Something ‘engineering-ey’ was twigging at her thoughts … but what did Tass have to add?

Having heard in medical the need for science personnel in engineering, Rebecca had made her way there immediately. She needed to get to the Science Bay but if comms weren’t reliable, she needed to know who to grab abs what they were up against before going to get others.

Glancing around, the woman sought out the Chief. “Hi. Rebecca Morrison, the incoming Science Chief. I heard you needed some of us down here. What’s going on? I’ve been in medical since the jolt.” It wasn’t a good excuse for having no idea what was happening. But it eased the truth.

“Nice to meet you. I’ve been reviewing the scans from the impulse engines right before the explosion, there was a fluctuation on the sensors that looks like a sudden increase in mass in the area.”

Koria reached over and just took the tricorder from Ensign Tass, she didn’t have time to wait on him anymore. Not if there was a larger threat to the ship.

“The Ensign detected some weird sensor readings here in Main Engineering right before I came back. But he has been reluctant to share.”

Flipping open the tricorder she sent the readings to the console, and started to overlay the information over the readings from the impulse reactor. “Care to give your professional opinion?”

Rebecca moved up to the console and her brow furrowed. “Sudden flux of mass? That makes no sense. Unless something appeared then disappeared. But in that case, a wormhole, or temporal anomaly would have been read. Are either of those present? And does anyone.. ahh there it is,” she pulled up this section of space on a star chart. “Let’s see if any of you ‘heavenly bodies’ are missing. Shall we? Perhaps the cloaking of a planet or asteroid and the decloaking of it might show up as such an anomaly. Though it seems unlikely as the mass would have been there, merely hidden…” she thought out loud as she ran thru a few scenarios to see what could have caused the sudden mathematical shift in what should be a spatial constant in this area. The only extra mass in this area should have been the ship, itself.
