Sara had always hated the medical check-in part of boarding a new ship. It felt like an invasion of privacy. Someone looking through her medical history for no reason other than curiosity. As she approached sickbay, no small amount of resentment came up. She walked in, looked for a doctor and found one. She walked over and said “Lt Cmdr Sara Kiernan reporting for required boarding physical.”

Glancing up, the blue toned face of a petite creature met what appeared to be human eyes. She was a medium sized woman, neither small nor tall, supporting the blue brushed skin of a Bolian woman. For a moment, her eyes appeared almost contemplative, uncertain to what she was supposed to say. It was not until a moment later, she seemed to snap from her daze. “Oh! Yes. Ah, please have a seat, commander.” Xanrae was not the most extroverted of people, so she often found herself babbling, when anxious. Of course, this hopefully would be avoided.

Sara sat as directed. She offered a strained smile to put at ease the seemingly anxious doctor. An XO was supposed to be commanding, not intimidating. She said “You know who I am, but I should know you. A first officer should know her crew, don’t you agree Doctor…?” She awaited the young doctor’s name.

The young doctor motioned towards a specific biobed, turning her body to be away from the Commander, as she searched for the tricorder. Retrieving the medical tricorder, she quietly asked the Executive Officer to uncross her legs and make certain she was still enough to avoid any discrepancies in the scans. For a second, she held the tricorder, moving it to scan her body.

Glancing up from the scans, Xanrae appeared a bit confused. She didn’t see why the Commander needed to know the name of some Ensign, as it wasn’t as though they would be seeing much of each other. Another useless name likely to be forgotten, which Xanrae preferred it that way. “Ah.. Doctor Xanrae. I’m one of the junior doctors around here.”
