Katelyn’s assignment to the Chimera had been a surprise and the sheer size of the vessel was even more of a surprise. She devoted one of her first days aboard the ship to walking the decks, trying to get a feel for the layout in a more visceral way than she could looking at schematics. One of her many trips through the ship brought her to the COS’ office and she reached out for the door chime. Now was as good a time as ever to introduce herself to one of the department heads that had continued on from the previous command.

Riloc was reading of the preliminary reports from the first few shifts since he joined the Chimera when the bell chimed. ” Come in.” He called as he placed the PaDD on the desk.

The door to the office slid open, revealing the trim figure of the ship’s new commanding officer. Her red-trimmed uniform fit her neatly with its gleaming quintet of pips affixed to her collar. As soon as she could get a view of the room, black eyes swept over it with in a practiced fashion before resting on the COS. The eyes sparkled as she grinned at him. “I presume you’re Lieutenant Riloc?” she queried as she stepped through the office door.
