USS Chimera

Sickbay pre sim - Physical

Posted by Ensign Arto Sojec (Security Officer) in Sickbay pre sim - Physical
The turbolift slowly whirred to a stop, juddering just a little as it came to rest upon its slick grav-rails while the computer chirped a matter-of-fact “deck three” in an accent that Arto couldn’t quite place. It sounded like it perhaps came from the country that was known as “America” before the Earth unified, or perhaps from a little further up north? Towards the regions known as “Canada?” Despite his years around them at this point, from his brief stays on Deep Space Nine to the academy in the city known as “San Francisco”, he still hadn’t quite gotten the hang of it all. Still, such things didn’t matter all too much in the general scheme of things. Just another strange quirk of the human species that he had found himself working with, amongst, well, many strange quirks if he was quite honest with himself.

The Ensign had committed the schematics to memory before boarding, hell, long before boarding in fact, having first studied them when he was told just what vessel he would be assigned to but even so he was finding all these corridors and access ways a little confusing. Was it a left up here? Or perhaps a right? He knew for certain he was on the right deck, that much he could visualise but he was quickly finding that a blueprint displayed on synth-paper of all things, how quaint, or even splashed on the many display panels that dotted this maze of walkways looked far far different from what one would see walking around.

Still, he nonetheless made good time to the “alpha” sickbay, checking the little red glowing LED display of his “antique” wristwatch just to make sure. At least, he thought it was an antique. It said “Casio” on it. He wasn’t sure what a “Casio” was but it sounded fairly old and Human-y? Still, it had proven to be accurate so far at the very least, be it genuine or otherwise just something that Ferengi merchant had thrown together in a replicator mere hours beforehand. He was fiddling with it when he walked in actually, before lifting his eyes and spotting the Chief Medical Officer he was sent to report to.

“Reporting in for physical evaluation as ordered sir. The name’s Arto Sojec.”

The CMO in question, a bearded older man with greying hair, sat on a rolling stool in a corner of sickbay. He was dressed in obviously not standard federation issue attired consisting of a baby blue rumpled shirt, open at the top two buttons at the neck, black jeans and a pair of red converse shoes. All old earth style but clearly freshly replicated not authentic.

As Arto spoke he looked up from the one authentic thing from his look, an ancient hand held gaming console in a sleek black colour. It bleeped and made sound and quickly he looked back down at it again. ”Dammit…” he muttered as his thumbs furiously moved across the assorted buttons. A commiseratory sort of sound then played and the man swore and tossed the game onto the nearest trolley.

He surveyed Arto with apparent interest, quietly for a few moments and then abruptly stood and grabbed a black metal Cane from where it leaned on the wall beside him. “Come on then.” He said and limped off leaning into the cane to the nearest bio bed. He patted the bed as they neared it and leaned his cane giants the wall again while he calibrated the scanner.

“Hop up.” He said as he worked.
