“Takes one to know one,” Katelyn retorted, reaching out first for the glass of Scotch and taking a healthy swig before returning it to the table in front of her and picking up a fork. She stabbed a single piece of lettuce and inserted it into her mouth, chewing for far longer and slower than necessary for it before putting her fork down with a clatter. She took another gulp of the Scotch before leaning back in her chair, crossing her arms in front of her chest as she studied the CMO as he tore into his sandwich.

“Pffft, transference much.” He retorted and kept eating, after some minutes he said “what?” With his mouth still full of food. He studied her then looked at her fork.

Katelyn mimed a pig eating at a trough in response to his mouth-stuffed “what?” and then rolled her eyes, her crossed arms uncrossing momentarily to reach for her beverage again and then returning to their defensive position. At least he couldn’t talk much while he was shoveling food in.

Ryley ignored her and ate quietly for a bit. As he finally came up for air he considered her. “So,…” he said in an awkward sort of way. “Not hungry?” He asked nodding at the salad.

Katelyn frowned at the salad and shrugged non-commitally. She wasn’t about to admit to her new CMO how little of an appetite she had these days, especially given the stubborn way he had handled their interaction so far. He didn’t need another thing to chomp on. “What have you been up to since you left the Atlantis?” she asked quickly, obediently stabbing a piece of lettuce again and shoving it into her mouth to ward off any further questions about the status of her hunger.
