USS Chimera
Sickbay - Nakuto's boarding physical
Humanoids are, on the whole, nothing if not adaptable. One’s life could change beyond recognition in the blink of an eye but most often it would be accepted as the way of things in a matter of days. And so it was for Mirai Nakuto. Barely a month prior she had been back on Qo’nos, tending to her dying father and, less willingly, to the domestic chores required around his house. Her grief at his passing remained unresolved, a psychic vulture at her shoulder, biding its time until the first sign of mental weakness gave an opening to tear her apart. This was a battle already in the planning and Nakuto knew that the field was currently being set. But today was not a good day to die. She was once more, and for the first time in more years than she could bear to count, on a starship! Her duty, her mission, was laid out for the taking. Excitement, anxiety, trepidation, deep and unbridled joy - these were emotions that had become strangers to her. But now each one coursed through her veins like the bloodwine she had consumed at breakfast. This was a new and glorious day and Mirai was ready to follow it wherever it may lead.
And so it was with uncharacteristic exhuberance that the tall, muscular half-Klingon burst into the Chimera’s sickbay and, her gaze pausing at each occupant in turn, roared “I am here for my physical. Who wishes to attend to me?”
