Bridge? Jen thought with some amusement. Has she gone to the dark side so quickly? =^= Negative on damage. That is still being assessed. We believe there is an external pressure that has caused the computer to establish all the force fields you have been running into. As for a map, cue your tricorder to the Marine intranet and anything that has been mapped is there along with the roads we’ve been making around them. The Captain is on Ranger One in the Hanger and trying to learn more on what is out there. =^=

The computer was only able to give a damage report on the immediate vicinity. While they shouldn’t it seemed that the internal force field was preventing computer contact from sections separated by them.

Jen rubbed at his chin. He was tired. The incident occurred in ‘evening’ ship time and much of the crew had been awake a long time including him. They needed to rotate for rest periods. The marines for sure as they didn’t have ‘shifts’ like the Fleet crews did. And this information was not what he had expected.

=^= Jen to Lt Sutret. One peculiarity with the force fields is that we have no sensor information from the ‘other’ side until we actually get there and scan it. While you’re in the computer core can you search out any reason for that? Or, as your trade is engineer, can you fathom why this is so? =^=

=^= Jen to Colonel Georgio. We’ve come a long way and it is late. Start rotating rest periods for the marines. =^=

=^= Jen to Ranger. I’ve contacted marine Colonel Georgio to begin rotating rest periods for the marines. Gamma shift would be coming on normally though Alpha shift by now is exhausted given that it was almost 22:00 when this event began. I would defer the implementation of this to the CMO as she has the latest stats on injuries and how this is best done. Do you concur? =^=

=^= Sutret here Commander. I’ve gained access to the computer core. It seems like voice commands are still being accepted.

=^= My best guess is that the force fields are scattering the scans. Typically the scanners are tuned to not be effected by the forcefields, or to ignore them. Something probably mixed up the frequencies that the scanners are operating on. Is our optical sensors also effected by the forcefields? =^=

Jen’s antennae followed his thought patterns as he listened to the reports. =^= Optical sensors. Anything that was remotely close to the skin of this beast we have no eyes on, be them electronic or optical sensors. If they are operational we need to get closer. I’m hopeful that we will get some kind of scans in from the hanger bay vessels that do have operating equipment. =^= Okay, so not normal with scans beyond the force fields. =^= Could it also be the computer who is intentionally limiting our ability to see in order to slow us down? I know this opens up a new tin of slush grubs and whether the computer is compromised in some way. That is another thing for you to look into there. =^=

He turned back to the captain’s transmission. =^= Captain, I have confirmation that the chief engineer has made it through to the computer core, as well as a second group from another deck. My voice authorization gained them entry via the comms. =^=

=/\= Fantastic, Commander. Hopefully she can figure out what’s going on with the ship. Keep me informed. We’re troubleshooting how to get this craft out of the launch bay with the warp bubble. I’ll let you know when we come up with something solid, but it would be a good start to get the shields dropped. I have a plan if we can do that. =/\=

=^= It is definitely possible, but you are right, something would have had to compromise our computer. The computer doesn’t just decide block our scans on its own. =^=

Jen was a little more pragmatic in this moment and his antennae focused on the comms as much as with the virtually empty CIC. Did he hear an echo in his voice when he spoke? =^= Captain, the ships’ sensors operate well even with the shields up. Normally at any rate. If you can crack the doors can the Ranger not scan through without endangering your shuttle? =^= As much as he was all for charging into the breach and to take a position this incident was creeping him out to some degree. He didn’t believe in ghosts but something stopped them hard. =^= I’ll update you as I find out more =^=
