Stepping back into the hallway, Koria just shook her head. Someone was definitely going to have to check on the doc and everyone in that sickbay, they must be in shock. But there was one thing Koria knew, medicine was definitely not her strong suit. She was much better with machines then with people, and one thing was certain, she needed to figure out what had happened to the Chimera.

Pulling her tricorder out of her pocket she started trying to figure out where the best way to go was. She was on Deck 3, and with the power fluctuations she wasn’t going to tempt using the transporters. If she could make it to Deck 7, she would be able to access the computer core, and hopefully figure out what was going on.

Looking down at the map her tricorder had started to make of the clear pathways, she turned in her spot. She finally found what looked like to be an open jefferies tube that would get her going down at least.

There had been a path opened from deck three to deck seven by a previous crew member… There was of combination of manually opened cross sectional hatches and dropped force-fields that would let the engineer to the Computer Core. There also happened to be marine team staring at the hatch to the primary computer core… when the chief engineer arrived.

Koria finally made her way to the computer core, having made her way through the maze that was the ship. She was never going to be ungrateful for a turbolift again.

As she came up to the access door she came upon a marine team staring at the hatch. “You know, it isn’t going to bite you,” she said walking up behind them. “What brings your team to my neck of the woods?”

Okay we have two teams at to different points of the computer core… maybe we chose one or the other.

Koria looked around, she didn’t know that they had gotten communications back. “You were able to get communications going?” she asked the marine team.

“Yes Ma’am. We used our ship to shore comm units, they were powerful enough to push through whatever interference is surrounding the ship.”

“Good thinking. Mind if I borrow the comm unit?”

As he handed it over Koria looked it over for a second. Sometimes the simpler solutions did work. =^= Good to hear from you Commander. I just arrived at the core and getting ready to see if we can gain access. Standby. =^=

As she handed the comm unit back, she turned back towards the access panel. After a few taps, she hit the access control.

“Computer authorize entry, confirmation Sutret Alpha Four Tango.”

=^= I await your report of success with much anticipation, Lt. I have just been in contact with Captain Hawkins and am attempting to get them into the Core from Deck 14. I’m advising that they can meet up with you inside. Provided the computer will take my voice authorization over the comms, if you cannot gain entry I can attempt that on your side as well. =^=

=^=Acknowledged.=^= Came the simple response from computer station. The doors slide open exposing the three story cylinder that was the computer system. There was an available data panel, but the system was voice activated as well.

=^= Jen to Lt Sutret. One peculiarity with the force fields is that we have no sensor information from the ‘other’ side until we actually get there and scan it. While you’re in the computer core can you search out any reason for that? Or, as your trade is engineer, can you fathom why this is so? =^=

Koria looked around the room as she walked into the control room. She flipped out her tricorder as she looked around, it looked like everything was intact still. The inertial dampeners around the computer core were stronger, designed to give it some more protection during a rough flight, or even a fire fight.

=^= Sutret here Commander. I’ve gained access to the computer core. It seems like voice commands are still being accepted.

=^= My best guess is that the force fields are scattering the scans. Typically the scanners are tuned to not be effected by the forcefields, or to ignore them. Something probably mixed up the frequencies that the scanners are operating on. Is our optical sensors also effected by the forcefields? =^=

Koria moved around the data panel and over to the access ladder that ran the whole length of the computer core. With all of the security around the core, it was often easier to climb the ladder instead of leaving, and taking a turbolift to another deck. Like the jefferies tubes, each deck was sealed by an access hatch at the ladder.

“Computer release and open all internal core ascent access hatches.” Hopefully the voice commands would still work.

=^=Computer core hatches opening.=^= The cross sectional hatches and force fields along the length of the computer core opened some with a reassuring clang, the force fields with a slight whine. The two sets of protections lowing the two teams separated by a dozen decks to see and hear each other.

=^= Optical sensors. Anything that was remotely close to the skin of this beast we have no eyes on, be them electronic or optical sensors. If they are operational we need to get closer. I’m hopeful that we will get some kind of scans in from the hanger bay vessels that do have operating equipment. =^= Okay, so not normal with scans beyond the force fields. =^= Could it also be the computer who is intentionally limiting our ability to see in order to slow us down? I know this opens up a new tin of slush grubs and whether the computer is compromised in some way. That is another thing for you to look into there. =^=

Koria thought about it for a minute. =^= It is definitely possible, but you are right, something would have had to compromise our computer. The computer doesn’t just decide block our scans on its own. =^=

“This is Captain Hawkins of A Company. Call out if you can hear me!”

=^= And I think I hear the other team. I was able to open the internal computer core hatches. I’ll see what I can do from in here Commander, hopefully without falling into whatever trap was set in our computer. =^=

Koria moved closer to the hatches she had opened.

“Captain, this is Lieutenant Sutret. Do you have access to the control console down there?”
