Katelyn smothered a laugh at the hunk of metal in Ryley’s hand and shook her head as she stepped through the turbolift doors. “Where are we headed?” she demanded, again rolling her eyes at Ryley. “And that’s Fleet Captain Kiddo to you. I’m pretty fond of my pips.”

Jacobs, CO

“G deck. Old habitat area, pretty much abandoned at this time of day. No one will notice us transport out and by the time tweedle dee and tweedle dumb get there they will assume we are somewhere in there. Take them hours to work out we’ve gone.”

He considered her. “Yeah sure, ill remember next time…kiddo.”

Just before the turbolift doors shut a fairly large male who somehow had managed to deftly stay out of sight the whole time that Katelyn and Ryley were having their chat unassumedly stood next to Katelyn with what looked like a regulation issue buzz cut stepped into the lift and his hands placed in front of him in a way that just screamed a soldier on protective detail. “Ma’am.” Granger said acknowledging Katelyn.

Ryley surveyed their elevator companion, “The buzz cut with you I take it?” he told Jacobs. He gave the guy another tricorder like look from head to foot and back again. “And where were you an hour ago when I could have used some muscle? eh? Uncle Heavy?”

The man looked at Ryley for a second, but in that second the glance summed up ryley’s entire combat capacity and how the Command Sergeant Major could if he wanted to snap the doctor in two like a twig. That discerning glance as it came to this judgement changed into one of disinterest, comletely and utterly disregarding the doctor and his capabilities in about two seconds flat. Granger completely ignored the doctor’s question and took out a set of glasses which had been interlinked to a tricorder and hud display linking him to the rest of his team and pulled out a compact phaser rifle from under his jacket that was holstered on a swing harness up underneath his arm pit. He detached the rifle from the harness and extended the stock before shouldering the weapon and performing a quick function check before powering it on. He set the rifle to heavy stun and quietly said though obviously not to Ryley or Katelyn. =/\=Gravel with primary and barfly descending, to tertiary exfil site.=/\= At which point a muffled “Roger....moving to rendevous” could be heard.

If this disturbed him Ryley didn’t show it. Nearly raised his eyebrows and smirked at the code name that was no doubt intended for him. “Well…i guess that answers the question ‘is that a phaser rifle in your pocket or are you happy to see me’ doesn’t it.” He quipped. “I know we just met but I have to tell you a weapon that big and I assume you’re compensating. And that’s my professional opinion.”

He closed his eyes and grimaced slightly as the still half dislocated joint in his shoulder twinged.

“Technically it was in my jacket Sir.” Granger replied with a deadpan voice and a straight face. He wondered just for a second how mad the skipper would be if he just forgot to cover the lush and he “accidently” took a hit. But no then he’d have to carry him the rest of the way to the evac point and he was even less enthusiastic about that idea. When the turbolift reached the desired level the doors opened and visually scanned the entrance way while his enhanced optics was sweeping for any nasties and other hidden things on this god forsaken cesspit of a station.

Ryley nodded, expression stoic. “It happens to the best of us Soldier. You should get that checked in sickbay though. I mean strapping lad like you. Everything should be in working order and in the right place.”

As the lift doors opened Ryley plunged a hand into his dirty, singed tench coat pockets and pulled out a much batter, heavily modified tricorder. He did a sweep around the , swayed slightly and pocketed it again. “No Klingons, someone needs to get their blood pressure checked.” He said looking at Jacobs as he exited the lift with all of the grace of an injured, one good legged, drunkard. “Might be me mind you…injured and all…”

The temperature was colder here and the air noticeably thinner as though life support systems were optimised here. Once they had gone a few meters into the abandoned , half unlit corridor Ryley stopped at a doorway to what once was someone’s quarters. It had been blasted open by the looks of it, the bulkhead half melted and covered in burn marks. It was empty however. This seemed to be Ryley’s limit however, he propped his staff against the door frame, leaned back against the bulkhead, closed his eyes and slid down it to the floor.

“Any time you’re happy kiddo.” He said to Jacobs and Buzzcut.

Granger sighed and rolled his eyes and looked at Katelyn as if to say....Do you really need him? and please please let me shoot him....just the once kipper but Granger supressed the desire to do so and handed the rifle to Katelyn before bending down and quickly grabbing Ryley by his hand and tried to hoist him up and over his shoulder.

With a small flurry of movement and a glint of mental in the dim light Ryley pulled his arm back with a kind of wiry strength that to most would have seemed beyond him. A hypospray pressed into the skin of Granger’s arm, the release mechanism half depressed. The greying old doctor opened one icy blue eye. He didn’t look drunk now.

“Now you go an disarm me and break my arm if you like but I guarantee I’ll have half this dosage in you before that and given your size…you’ll probably drop off to night night land in about eight seconds. It’s a fairly potent Nausican sedative. We understand one another? I’m happy on the floor thanks.”

Granger immediately complied with the man’s request and let him go before standing back and out of reach. He then immediately pulled out a phaser set on the rear of his left hip and set it to heavy stun. Then he really looked at Ryley and after a second of thought reconsidered and decreased the setting to just below the heavy stun threshold and then shot Ryley as he didn’t have the time or the personell to be able to deal with a beligerant drunk who was willing to incapacitate him on seemingly a whim. He then reholstered the weapon and said into his communicator “All station this is Gravel, Lackdaster I say again.....Lackdaster.”

A few seconds of silence passed before a voice came back, “Roger Gravel, Lackdaster acknowledged, ready to beam you straight to the infirmary upon reaching exfil.” Granger bent down and picked up Ryley, slinging him over his shoulder before turned and started humping him to their beam out point in that short step hurried shuffle that covered alot of distance in a short amount of time in the most efficient method possible while lugging someone over your shoulder.
