Jen was not overly keen on waiting himself, however, over the years in the field he had learned that much of the chosen profession that he had been in - and that this included it - was tedium, boredom, or simply waiting - punctuated by sudden and usually unexpected action manifesting in ways that were utterly not anticipated. His instincts told him that this was the case as well, or would be soon enough. His desired response to the Captain’s comment was to shrug. It was what it was in this profession. Instead he gestured to a console. “I isolated sensor reports in the seconds leading up to the incident. There was nothing detected whatsoever until the moment before when the sensors detected something in the way - non specified - and went into an emergency stop to avoid collision. That same interaction caused the ship to believe that it had rendered considerable damage and brought up the force fields.” He paused and turned back to the Captain. “Some of the marines have reported .. unidentified bogies aboard. Whether figments of their imagination or not none have been descriptive or verified or even detected to my knowledge.”
- Jen“So in short, reports of bogies, no real hull breaches that we can verify anyway.” He sighed realising he was stating the obvious and knowing full well the rest of the command team were just as frustrated.
“The underlying information that we can assume by virtue of the fact that we are still alive is that we have power and we have life support. That tells us that either the warp drive is still functioning or that the power plants that we have as backup are online. Barring any structural or other emergencies it is only a matter of time before we take back more and more of the ship and can put, as the Terrans like to say, Humpty back together again.” He used the military conquest term ‘take back’ intentionally. This was a battle between man and machine right now where the ship was the unwitting adversary that they were trying to overcome.
“I have a bad, bad feeling that this is only the beginning.” He said, again stating the obvious.
Jen smiled. It was a feral look. “Good. I like a challenge.”
Katelyn audibly laughed at Jen’s smile and response. She did like a challenge too, but for right now, her head hurt and her newly commanded ship thought that it was floating space junk. It wasn’t a great start to her third CO spot.
The pulled his Tri-corder out of its holder. ” Commander, do you want me to upload the information from my tri-corder down by security? Might give us something we missed?” He queried.

“Absolutely, Lt. Information is power and anything will help,” he replied. “A Company said they had moved up 6 decks. That means that they are in the vicinity of engineering and flight and the warp cores, provided that they are able to negotiate past enough of the force fields to get anywhere.” His fingers tapped at the console. He didn’t like the sound the ship made. Space had no pressure in and of itself. It was internal that they created a pressure with air and gravity and the stresses of traveling. Was there some pressure placed on the ship? Technically it shouldn’t matter if the ship was filled with holes. Vacuum didn’t care but they needed structural reinforcement to keep the ship from blowing out, though the hull design and components would easily handle that.
“Corporal, contact A Company and ask of their progress on the decks themselves. Have they found any engineers to assist in their .. demolition so we are not blasting through anything critical.” The corporal nodded and went to the comms.
- Jen=^=Bridge this is Col Gregio, we are heading towards main engineering. Alpha company is heading towards the flight deck. We will update as we have information.=^=

=/\= Thank you for the update, Colonel. We’ll stand by for further information. =/\=
Katelyn returned her attention to the assembled officers. “Let’s bring up a map of the ship with indicators where the breaches are as well as the progress the various teams are making through the ship. Hopefully they can confirm whether any of the breaches are valid so we can check those off too. I’d hate to override the system once we get people to engineering and then have there be an actual vacuum somewhere.”

Jen’s lips thinned as he turned to the console. “This is the report from the sensors and ship at the time of the incident. We lost all ship data after that point.” He worked to bring that up on the main screen, though knew it would show catastrophic issues all around. However the Captain needed to see that. “I’ll try to apply in what we have from the marine units and the Lt here,” he continued, looking at the COS and giving him a nod. He didn’t have high hopes of anything close to 10% of the ship having been explored yet, though his hope was that there would be some main arteries that had been opened and the ability to move between decks.
- Jen, XODavon rose from his chair removing his Tri-corder in one fluid motion like it was a phaser with a flourish he placed it on the console. ” Computer transfer the data from this tri-corder to the map.”

The lines of transit had to be put in manually, but the marines had done a fairly efficient job of ‘blowing’ their way to the CIC, engineering, and the hanger bay. While it would still take far longer than it should, people could be expected to move between these three areas without any barriers in the way.
