There was a sudden squealing of metal against metal and anyone looking to see what the sound was would see the Caitian Rear Admiral collapsing back against the door jam of the Flag Officer office after presumably dragging the door open. She leaned there for a few moments before catching her breath and looking out over the CIC.
Squinting her eyes she looked for the CO.
“Status? What hit us?” She asked.

Rear Admiral M’Ressa

The ensign glanced at the admiral and blanched slightly. “I, we, don’t know the computer hit the alert and raised the shields just a split second before we crash stopped. Sir.”

Jen made it to the CIC .. eventually, though not before the Admiral. It wasn’t a pleasant trip however he had what he had wanted, and what he had left behind. He came with others in tow: two engineers, a marine platoon medic and comms corporal, along with three comms units and an extra battery. He noticed the Admiral there; the bridge was quite bereft of the junior ranks leaving him nearly as the junior officer there. That was fine. He had things to do. His training was on high level and at the ranks level and right now the ranks needed to get moving.

“Captain, Admrial” he said, once he and the others had crawled out of the tubes and onto the bridge. His shoulder was aching more prominently now, but he had felt worse. Rubbing it as he looked about the large room he pointed to where the others should be. Once the dust had settled on things he was going to get the medic to look at that. However, more was at stake. “Comms are down. Marines are spreading out in sections to the ship with portable comms to areas to make contact and assess the ship. Engineers are still working damage control. I hope to have some answers soon.”

He turned to the comms corporal who was awaiting orders. “Set up here and monitor traffic from the sections. Report on ten minute intervals.” To the engineers he said, “Learn what you can here now about the ship and its status. I want to know what we can and can’t do. What we can and can’t see.”

OOC: No marine has made it to the bridge… so you don’t know they are doing anything yet. Although it is reasonable they will connect the sections of the ships, I kind of wanted to role play it.
OOC: You had said that I could pick up engineers and get to the CIC, and the marines are between engineering and CIC so figured I could pick up a couple there as I had to go through them to get there. I know that things aren’t very organized at the moment and didn’t want to imply that they were, only that they are getting there :) There are just two. :)

Activating his comms unit he tuned it to the ship frequency, hoping to get the CE or someone in engineering proper. =^= Jen to Engineering. I want a team to give me a status on the warp core. I want another team to make way to the fusion generators. Get them going. Acknowledge.=^=

He looked to the Captain as he changed tacks. =^= Jen to Flight. CAG or any pilots that are there and can hear me report in. I want birds in space. We’re blind here. You need to be our eyes and our protection. I don’t care if you need to take a can opener to the hull to get them out. I need eyes. Acknowledge. =^=

“Force fields up all over Captain,” Jen reported. “It took me a while to get down. Power issues. Comms malfunctions. A lot of injuries. The marines are using tactical comms units to fan out to give us some kind of network. Further orders?” His uniform was hardly pristine at this point and he felt that he’d have been better off in fatigues. At least they ‘look’ better mussed up.
- Jen

M’Ressa listened to the XO’s status update and growled in frustrated concern as she pushed herself off the doorjamb and carefully made her way down the short stairwell to the main deck. “Were we attacked? Was that a weapon’s hit that hit us or did we just stop suddenly?” She asked as she approached the CO and XO. While she waited for a response her quick mind listed the aggressive species in the area. Most notable of course were the Romulans but lawless Klingons were not unknown. Also the nebula in the Infinite Fleet was also known to harbor various raiders and other lawless sorts.

M’Ressa

“Unlikely an attack,” Jen said. His antennae were moving showing the underlying anxiety while he himself exhibited little. “If it was an attack we’d be dead by now. No enemy would cripple us and then leave us. If they wanted to board us we’d still be dead. It has taken us this long to get here where they would have beamed in and waited for us to arrive.” They’d have also seen signs of any boarding along the way. “That does not mean that we have not struck some kind of mine or other spatial ordinance, or an otherwise undetected spatial anomaly. Shy of being able to look out the window to see that is why I want birds in space.”

Taking the pack Kate opened the back panel and ran it through its usual startup sequence. She set the pack to one of the standard emergency frequencies, hopefully someone in CIC was listening. Because if comms weren’t working, it was possible that they had turned to focusing on something else. Turning the power of the unit up to max, she activated the comm channel.

=^= CIC this is Captain Hawkins. Do you copy? =^=

MCapt Hawkins - A CO Commander

Jen’s comm crackled. He moved to it and switched it to transmit. =^= CIC here. Just getting established Captain. What is your status? Over. =^= Ultimately the Captain would have something to say in this but right now they needed to know where the troops were. Security would be doing their own things. So much - too much - of the ship was silent and they needed to at the very least get help to those who needed it while divining what was going on.
- Jen. XO

=^= Good to hear from you CIC. My Company is a bit beat up, but just a few scrapes and bruises. Sitrep, you are the first communication we’ve had outside of this deck. We resorted to one of our shore to ship comm units. A Company is securing the deck and getting geared up. Over. =^=

MCapt Hawkins - A Co Commander

The fog of war. Feeling their way through a veritable minefield, only in this case it was a minefield of forcefields and damage rather than enemies and weapons and more insidious war machines. His antennae worked as though wanting to do the stuff himself. They needed to get organized and secure the ship and find out what kind of a) threat it was and b) damage their was before they could c) fix it.

=^= Very good. Have the company medics triage the troops. Break out combat kit. Radios. Weapons, if not already done. Those able and well enough to move reassemble into squads. A Company move up decks. B Company move down decks. You’ll run into a maze of forcefields. Lifts are down. Comms are down. Go deck by deck and secure the deck, enlist able bodied to assist, medics to set up localized infirmaries. And move on. Report each deck status. We’ve not heard from much of the Fleet and we’re as banged up as you so expect a lot of injuries as you go. And if you reach Flight before we get contact, I want birds in the air ASAP. Acknowledge orders, Captain. =^= He glanced at the Admiral who looked the worse for wear. Jen wasn’t sure if he had torn anything but by the look of it had gotten off lucky. He could stave off his own issue with a pain killer.

“Admiral, Captain. Are you injured?” Rhetorical question but needed to be said. The medic might be able to help.
Jen, XO

“I could use some bracing of my ribs, I think I broke a few over my desk.” M’Ressa growled as she mentally congratulated the Commander on his succinct orders. This man had lead in the field and knew his business. Perhaps someone back in Command knew what they were doing after all.

M’Ressa

Jen nodded, and looked over to the Captain who was in her command chair but slumped. The ribs and shoulder were forgotten as he moved quickly over. “Captain?” He said, moving in close. “Unconscious,” he said, a report to the Admiral who would be wanting a report. “Not seeing bleeding. I have a pulse. Medic!” He called over and backed up for him to look at her. “Admiral, I have taped up ribs on the battlefield. It’s not pretty. The medic can do it better if you care to wait.” He glanced around the CIC. Large and seriously underpopulated and under powered. Then the reply came through.

OOC: Unfortunately our brave CO has had to resign suddenly due to life situations but I have already advertised in Command for applications for a new CO. We can roleplay that the Captain had an unfortunate medical injury due to the situation and she can be removed to sickbay for now. I would like to ask that all crew go ahead and keep posting and the sim moving in the interim. You guys are doing great!

IC: “See to the Captain, Medic. I just need some taping and I can keep moving until I can get to sickbay.” The Admiral said as she moved over to the CO to here the medics prognosis on the Captain.

=^= Roger that XO. A goes up, B goes down, break out the heavy weapons, and give the fly boys their wings. Recommend monitoring Marine Tac 2. We only have a limited number of the portable comm units, and will operate on that frequency for individual comms. Comm check is every 15 minutes. A Company over and out. =^=

MCapt Hawkins - A Co Commander

“Good,” Jen said, more to himself. Blind was not a condition one liked to have in battle but had it far too often to be happy. “Admiral, we have not met. I am Garinder’Jen th’Jir, but go by Jen. Until a short while ago I was a full Colonel in the Fleet Forces engaged in the Popcorn Sector - so named because foes kept popping up, particularly in the ‘Bot Wars. Which are still happening. General Cologne assigned me here, shifted me to Fleet and adjusted my rank accordingly.” He believed there was some kind of favors tossed about in the back room with this, but he was a soldier and went here he was ordered.

M’Ressa nodded shortly,”A pleasure, Commander. Especially in this situation. Watching you I quickly discerned that you have field experience.”

“I do not believe this was an attack, however I do believe that we have limited time to save the ship. I want birds out both to provide cover and to give us a visual on the ship and the damage and perhaps the why. I have an idea about what to do about power and troop, ah, crew movement, however we need comms to Flight first. The ship doesn’t have power yet, but surely some of our transport shuttles do - with sensors and transporters and comms.” He paused. “Your orders, Admiral?”
- Jen, XO

OOC: Saw that D is on iLOA till end of year so accommodated that with moving her condition to unconscious. Hope that is okay with all parties. .. Gene
OOC: You beat me too it!

IC:
“As you have more live experience then I do in this situation I will go with your recommendation, Commander. See to it. I think sending some of those shuttles out to give us sensors would be advisable as well.”

M’Ressa

OOC: That certainly can be the order if you ever raise the fighter or shuttle bays.

If he was honest with himself, which Jen was, he would admit if only to himself that the shuttles were an afterthought. He had been focused on getting power to the ship and life back in her rather than alternate options of power and transporters. He shifted back to the comms. =^= Jen to CAG. Do you read me? Anyone in flight? Do you read? =^= He glanced back over to the captain, though there was little he could do. The medic was better equipped and he had a ship to worry about.

“Admiral, the marines are getting mustered. What is your opinion of mustering the fleet personnel? So far we’ve had limited contact. That worries me.”
- Jen, XO

The shuttle and fighter bays returned unhappy static. Right now the only means of off deck communication they had was the marine comm units. The problem with that was they only could talk to the marine who were stuck in their barracks.

GM

OOC: Do we have a Marine Comm unit in the CIC? And Gene by Fleet Personnel do you mean from the Starbase?

Krys

OOC: No the marines trapped the barracks jury rigged the Marines Land to Ship communications units to link to the bridge, until the somehow the marines find their way to the bridge you have no means of communicating out to another location. Luke

While the Fleet Commander was taking a few seconds to ponder her answer to the Commander a hatch near the back of the CIC proper popped off and very dirty and dishevelled Chief Science Officer climbed out tiredly. The young Caitian officer looked up and around,

“Uh, Deck 4 iss completely dead, sirrss. They arre on emerrgency powerr with no communicationss orr computerr which includess ssenssorrss. Therre arre multiple forcefieldss sset up on mosst of the deckss, even in the sshaftss.” After catching her breath she moved more into the middle of the CIC deck, catching sight of the Captain being worked on by a medic and the XO and Admiral standing in conversation.
“I wassn’t ssure what elsse to do with the labss dead sso came up herre to ssee if we have ssenssorss up herre.” She finished weakly.
