Lieutenant jg Riloc would receive the following message:YOU HAVE AN UPCOMING APPOINTMENT WITH LT CMDR ARBOGIST FOR MENTAL EVALUATION SCHEDULED AT 1330 TOMORROW

Riloc received the message in his office. He flicked the meeting into his planner with one simple movement of his wrist.
“Thank you NE Tunktan you are free to go about your business. Just make sure your reports are a little bit more thorough from now on.” His voice was even but there was a hint of annoyance to his tone. He handed the PaDD back to the NE.
Sometime later he found himself out side the counsellors office. He was a fan of these meeting but agreed they needed to be done. He pressed the bell.

The door opened and Riloc would find the Counselor seated on the corner sofa. Simon looked up as Riloc entered.
“Come in and have a seat,” Simon said. He stood, making his way over to Riloc, holding out his hand. “I’m Simon Arbogist, the new ships counselor.”

Davon smiled and offered his hand. “Lt.(j.g) Davon Riloc new security chief, pleasure to meet you counselor.”
Simon shook the other man’s hand warmly. “Please have a seat and make yourself comfortable.”
He took a seat crossed his right leg over his left as was he way and rested his hands in his lap.
“Can’t be long now till we set out. I can honestly say I am looking forward to getting out there again.”

“I agree,” Simon said. “Is this your first time as a department head? What was your last posting?” He usually made it a habit of not looking into the personnel files or records of officers until after their first meeting. He found that he learned more that way, when he didn’t know what to expect.

Riloc gestured his arms dramatically ” First time as a DH, oh yes. Definitely.” He leaned back in his chair with a slight slouch. ” I served on the USS Okifor for 13 years, was an enlisted man first then things went a bit crazy. We lost a lot of crew one mission. Landing party got stuck at the same time we had a ion storm really banged us up. Lost the team, you know.” Each sentence was punctuated with a flipping of the hands and theatric movements.
“After the incident I was field trained by the new CoS aboard the Okifor. Got my Ensign rank 3 years later. Spent the next 7 years paying my dues. Now I am here. Serving aboard a much bigger ship. In charge of a massive team. So no pressure.” He laughed. It was a little high pitched.

Simon nodded. “It sounds like you have been through your share of loss and trauma in your career then. I’m curious, how do you process such memories? Do they ever come back to haunt you? Or do you simply move on and leave them in the past?”
