OOC: This timeline is Post Sim for the current Sim. We will be completing the sim. New marine crew may join on this sim thread.

Captain Jones Disembarked onto Starbase Halcyon, not really sure what was going to happen when he arrived. Looking around he immediately noticed a heavy Marine Presence on the ship. Turning to the XO “Commander, I have orders to report to Admiral M’Ressa, The crew is free to do as they wish for now until I receive more orders. No one is to be in the brig during this trip so make sure our officers are kept in line Commander.”

Jones walked through the corridors and hallways until he finally arrived at the Admirals office. He had yet to meet the Fleet Commander and wondered if he was going to be relieved of command.... Again. He approached the door, taking a deep breath he range the chime on the door.

Captain Jones
CO

“Come!” Came a sharp purring voice from within and as the doors whooshed open the Captain would note a typical flag officer’s office within. On the walls were huge mural paintings though of the fields of Cait. The tones of the furnishing and carpeting of the office were in matching colors to the painting being of soft wheat gold and verdant dark green.

The Commander of the station, Rear Admiral M’Ressa was sitting behind her desk peering at various padds, one of which she set back down at her desk as she looked up at Jones’ entry.
“Captain Jones, please come in.”Unlike the Caitain CSO on the Chimera the Rear Admiral’s Caitain accent was almost non existent due to her longer years with speaking Federation Standard. Or perhaps it was due to her background in Communications. “Have a seat, Captain. How is the Chimera doing repair wise after your contact with the Orions?”

Rear Admiral M’Ressa

Captain Jones entered and sat down, “Thank you admiral, it’s a pleasure to take make your acquaintance.” Jones eyes were slightly droopy with large lines under them. “Frankly Admiral I’m not sure the Chimera is salvageable at this point, She took a lot of damage before I arrived on her.” Jones shifted in his seat “Admiral I sincerly hope that Command realizes that the majority of the damage occurred before I even arrived on the ship. I know my command history is colorfull and I assure you I believe I did everything by the book.”

M’Ressa nodded as she listened,”Yes, Captain I am aware of what the Chimera went through before you took command.” She frowned then and took a moment to stare past Jones.

Jones shifted again “Admiral, may I ask why I have been summoned to your office, I realize that I have not had the pleasure to meet you yet, but it feels like there is more.”

CO

The Admiral sighed then looked back toward the Captain.”I was hoping you had better news for me, Captain but in light of the damage the Chimera has undergone I took the liberty of contacting Command to suggest that if the Chimera is beyond salvaging that you and your crew be given a new ship. We just happen to have a new Mjolner docked here at the base that Command has agreed to give you with the permission to rename her Chimera NCC 98730-B. It is vital due to the remnants of the Typhon Pact allies as well as the Klingon or Cardassian ships that we keep finding incurring on our space. Given that this a Mjolner class, that will of course change the nature of your missions, Captain. Given your fighter class history, I think you are more then suited for these type of missions. What do you think?” She asked as she relaxed a bit, sitting back in her chair.

Admiral M’Ressa

Jones picked up the PadD on the desk with the ship information on it, to be back on a carrier he began looking over the information on it, standing out in bold letter read ‘Marine Expeditionary Vessel (MEV)’, Jones looked up “Admiral the thought of getting back on board a Carrier, let alone commanding one is amazing, May I ask about the MEV mission set that is listed as primary?”

Jones

BUMP

“The Mjolner class is a heavy carrier and tactical platform, Captain. In that sense it is well suited for unstable regions. You will have a contingent of marines and fighter pilots to use at your discretion. The mission types for this class of ships are: Transport and tactical utilization of Starfleet’s fighters, Engagement of hostile fleet groups,
Tactical flagship, Search-and-rescue operations, Transportation and protection of diplomats, Escort and deployment of marines, and Demonstration of Starfleet defense abilities to Federation candidate members.” The Admiral had picked up a padd to read the list off to Jones. She set it back down now and looked over at him.
“Given your past assignments and flight status I felt you were eminently suited to Captain a ship of this type. Your marine contingents and pilots are already arriving here at the station and will be ready to board in a few days.” She paused then and waited to see if he had any questions.

Admiral M’Ressa

Captain Jones sat back in the chair, “I would certainly agree with you I believe I will be able to command this vessel to it’s fullest potential Admiral, as you know Admiral both of my XO’s that I have had on the Chimera have been transferred out, Has a suitable replacement been found?”

“Indeed, given that this needs to be a quick change over of crew and ships I took the liberty of assigning you a new XO. Commander Samantha Hathoway is an interesting mix. Trained at Starfleet Academy, she took the enlisted route instead of the officers in the beginning. She also attended the Star Fleet School of Advanced Aerospace Combat & Tactics and graduated with honors. I think she will be an excellent asset for you, Captain.”

Jones scrolled through the PadD until getting to the personnel assignment portion, there he found the specifications of what was to be assigned to the vessel, he found the standard compliment of Engineering, Security, Science, A counselor. Then he arrived at the section regarding the Flight operations and Marine Detachment.

29th Marine Expeditionary Battalion
o Battalion Command - Commanded by Lt. Col
o 1 x HQ Company - Including Ground Medical team
o 2 x Ground Company, Including 1 Recon Platoon

399th Marine Flight Wing
o 45 Marine Fighter Craft - Templar Class
o 40 Transport Craft - To be assigned
o 4 Search and Rescue Craft (SAR)

Captain Jones walked over to the window looking out, he could see fighters in formation out of the window, a growing excitement came over him as he thought of taking this massive carrier out of dock. He had spent his entire adult life on a carrier, simply put it was home.

Captain Jones
CO

“What do you think?” The Admiral asked as she rose and joined him at the window. “Oh one more thing, Captain. There is a Flag office aboard your vessel and Starfleet feels it would be prudent that I accompany you on some of these missions. I do not plan to get in your way but they feel my presence will be necessary. Ship command will of course be yours, at all times, I am only there to offer advice in tactical situations. Think of me as an advisor.” She added wryly.

Admiral M’Ressa

OOC: I corrected that to Flag office, the CAG is the Commander of the Flight group :)

IC: Captain Jones looked to the Admiral. “I think I should go and see Commander Holloway, then I think it’s time to get onboard the ship and take a look around. Your always welcome aboard Admiral, will you be bringing any staff on board?”

Jones

“Excellent idea, the ship is ready to go. There is just support staff there right now finalysing things.” As she turned to her desk she picked up a padd to carry with her.”Just my adjunct. He is a wonderful office manager and takes care of the majority of my communications. He will work as my liaison with my staff here while I am with you.” She lead the way out of her office and down the corridor toward the nearest turbolift, her tail swinging lazily behind her. Her sharp eyes were always roving though and watching the activity around. Not much would get past this Admiral.

Admiral M’Ressa

Captain Jones entered the Turbo Lift, there was only one port large enough to allow for the ship to be docked, ‘Outer docking ring’ the Turbo Lift chimed and smoothly began moving. as the Turbo Lift opened Jones walked to the nearby viewport looking out, there stood the massive ship, it did actually appear to be a new construct, the pain was fresh, no dents from space debris or battles. He watched as the Admiral walked beside him, as they approached the docking port a Security Lieutenant stood at the access point, the officer was looking down at his padd not really paying attention to anything “Name please, you have to be on the authorized list to enter” The lieutenant never looked up to see either the Captain or the Admiral standing there.

“Admiral M’Ressa and Captain John Jones, Perhaps if you looked up instead of just standing there you would know that Lieutenant” The young officer looked up and with wide eyes stammered “Sorrrrry ssssSir, of course you may enter” The young officer stepped out of the way. Captain Jones walked straight to the turbo lift, standing aside for the admiral to enter, Stepping in ‘Deck 23, CIC’ The turbo lift moved swiftly as it proceeded the several decks.

Before the turbolift moved M’Ressa stopped it and looked toward the Lieutenant.”Lieutenant, I want you to see Commander Reese and tell him you have just volunteered for double duty night shift for the next month. If he asks why, you may tell him.” Stepping back she allowed the turbolift to close.
“My station, my men.” She said mildly to Jones.

Jones nodded his head “My apologies Admiral, I was simply doing a on the spot correction, most Flag officers don’t take such a hands on approach to command, I believe we will get along just fine.”

M’Ressa didn’t say anything but she smiled to herself.

The doors opened like a gleaming beacon to Jones. This was an amazing sight, the bridge of a carrier under his command. As he stepped off of the Turbo Lift he began to take it all in. The CIC was massive, the size of most Star Base Operations Centers, in the center was the command ring which showed all information for the battle, ship status, ship functions, auxiliary craft status. Captain Jones walked to the Captains chair and placed his hand on it for a moment, then turning to the Admiral who was still near the Turbo Lift “Admiral, my apoligies, I know the CIC looks unusual to Fleet Officers, but to a Carrier Pilot it is amazing. Your office is right over here Admiral” Jones motioned to the door that led to the Flag Office.

Captain Jones

As they got out of turbolift, M’Ressa murmured.”Your ship, Captain. And its not so unusual looking as I have overseen most of it’s final refits.” She followed him to the Flag Office. “I take it by your reaction, you like what you see so far?” She asked.

Admiral M’Ressa

Jones began pulling up the systems status on the main console, he wanted to know where he stood on supplies, ships, systems. The systems still showed in standby, only a quarter of the fighters and transports were on board, and of course his entire crew needed to be brought on along with intigrating the new officers into the crew, and there was the matter of working on getting the Marines in place, there was plenty to do. “Admiral, I was unaware that we would be coming on board a vessel this quickly, I authorized the majority of my crew shore leave on the station, I’ll work on getting them up and ready. We may be in dock a couple more days, after that I would like to do a short shakedown cruise to ensure readiness and to get the crews integrated.”

“That’s fine, Captain. It will give your crew time to get acclimated to this ship as well.” M’Ressa murmured.

The turbolift opposite the one the Captain and Admiral had just disembarked hissed and the tall, striking pilot… Commander Samantha Halloway… stepped onto the Bridge of her first real Command slot. Taking in the room with a slow, soft whistle, Sam walked toward the Command Chair completely oblivious to the personnel swarming around her. Sporting her Fighter Command Bomber Jacket with TOPGUN Gold Master Pilot wings on the left chest patch, the young brunette looked right at home on the Command Bridge of a Carrier but the little girl inside her wanted to scream with joy.

It had been just six months since she had been cleared to return to duty but the path San Francisco had laid for her upon her return from the Ready Reserve was more then even she could have dreamed. Her career had taken her through the traditional pilot ranks, all the way through CAG but nothing had prepared her for this. Executive Officer of the Federation’s newest carrier was a dream come true… and something she could finally hold over Devri’s head! Although Sam and Colonel Devri “Starbuck” Hudson, current Commanding Officer of Starfleet’s prestigious Fighter Weapons School (TOPGUN), had a deep past… Sam had always felt her best friend had been the lucky one… all the right posts, right times, and right lovers… to put her on fast track after they wrapped up TOPGUN. Sam on the other hand had lost Bryan to MIA, become a damn near alcoholic, nearly lost her wings and spent far too much time with less than questionable characters before finally reaching this moment. This defining moment that reminded her it was all worth it. Halloway was an XO… just one step behind her brother Michael now. One thing was for certain, she sure as hell wasn’t going to blow this shot!

Halloway, XO

Captain Jones saw Commander Halloway enter the bridge. They had met a few times but never flown together. The officer seemed competent, seeing the look of awe on her face he realized that he must have had the same look on his. “A pretty amazing experience Commander?”

John P. Jones
CO

“Yes it is…” Halloway sighed happily as she continued to take in the view. Seeing the Captain out of the corner of her eye, it suddenly clicked in Sam’s head she’d missed a step as she turned to face Jones. “Captain… Commander Samantha Halloway… reporting for duty sir.” She said in a cool soprano as she extended her hand.

Jones extended his hand, “Welcome aboard Commander, I believe we have met before this at the pilots conference in the past.”
Halloway, XO

M’Ressa stepped up,”Commander Halloway, Captain Jones. I will leave you two to acquaint yourselves. I have a few things to take care of.” So saying she looked down at her padd as she walked away toward the Flag Officer’s office. She was busy tapping away on it as she entered.

Admiral M’Ressa

Liam was not sure why he was part of the tour of the new ship. As he reached the transporter room. “Please chief Beam me to the Bridge of the New Chimera!” Dr. Liam commented nicely to the officer. more as a casually request than an order. He was slightly out of breath as he finished off packing up his quarters he was in on the old chimera and ran here. He straightened his uniform as he waited calmly for the ok to beam and clearance for him to have access to the new chimera. Liam was not sure if his clearance was updated from when he was an ensign yet.

Lt Jg Liam Batario CMO

Bump too
Occ: why am I being ignored
Bumpity!

OOC: GM is not working on these so you have to do alot of it yourself,

The Chief looked at the Lieutenant, “Sorry about this Lieutenant, but the transporters and most systems are down, you will have to walk through the station to the outer docking rings and board there.

CO

“Very well Chief!” Liam said with a sigh as he left the padd and headed down the corridor to the gangway as he started walking on the connection between the ship and station. He had a minor odd feeling of being claustrophobic and a bit of dizziness from the heights but he did his best for not to let it bother him as he reached the other end with a sigh. He looked at the older class USS chimera from the outside as he looked out of the windows as he walked to the new USS Chimera as he walked up to the gangway entrance. “I hate those things. As he sighed harder as he started up the ramp to the new ship. As it was longer than the other one so he kept his eye on the prise at the end of the tunnel the main door hatch so he can enter the ship and get familiar with the new vessel.

As a set of security guards came through the doors and took their station there as he closed on them. “Morning Gentlemen.” Liam said politely to them as the doors opened for him to pass through without issues. As he passed the first part of the airlock he sighed a sigh of relief as he moved to the open inner hatch. As another set of Security officers. “Morning Ladies” as he passed and stopped at the first computer terminal. “Computer! Please direct me to the nearest turbo lift to the main bridge.” Liam said casually. “I better start at the top.” He said softly to himself as the computer beeped then spoke. “Of Course! Ensign Doctor Liam Batario, Welcome Aboard the Chimera.” The computer finished as the indicator light started flashing the direction of the lift and the door frame lit up to indicate the right door.

Liam continued to walk along the bustling corridor as he made it to the lift the door opened to an empty car. He entered as the doors closed and the lift took off to its new destination. The computer began to speak again. “Point of information. Sickbay is online and ready for your inspection and the Medical staff is read as well.” the computer fell quiet “Thank you!” Liam said politely to the computer he knew it was not necessary to be polite to a computer but it did not hurt either. “Your welcome sir” the computer spoke again then fell quiet again. As the lift slowed to a stop as the doors opened to the bridge. As Liam stepped off the lift. “Permission to come aboard?” as he stood there waiting quietly as the staff was busy with there duties.

Lt Jg. Liam Batario - CMO

OOC: Just for information on the CIC which is the name of the bridge in the Mjolner Class see this link…https://www.star-fleet.com/library/bookshelf/tm/mjolnir.html#idp140293036827008. It is right at the top. The CIC is not set up the same as a conventional bridge but seems to have a huge holographic viewscreen at back, a circle of sensor stations in front of that. The Command stations are in between that and the back holoview, with the horseshoe shape of Nav/Helm stations and what not in front of that. Phil if I am wrong in my interpretation please correct me. Oh! And it is also not placed at the top of the ship but in the middle on Deck 23. This is going to take some getting use too:)

Krys

OCc: thank you for the information I will try to get it to stick in my brain but I am used to the term bridge just a point of information. I do have memory issues I will try to adjust please bear with me ok. I understand we are on a new vessel when I have more time I will go over the schematics. thank you again for the update.

Liam

Liam realized that he had not traveled too far in the lift to account for being on a true bridge at the top of a saucer but he was further inward and shielded more than a conventional bridge layout this was way different to him. Interesting he thought to himself. As he waited patiently for a response. He did not move just scanned with his eyes. Apparently, he missed the tour and the others. As he turned and reentered the lift as he headed to the medical section to check in there and go find him a cabin he will be happy with. The lift doors opened again as Liam left the CIC. Disappointed as he spoke finally. “Medical” as the doors closed to the last glimpse of the cic and the lift took off for the medical section.

The lift stopped a short time later to an area of the ship that was rather quiet. As he exited the lift and headed down the corridor to Main medical as he followed the signs to his destination. As he entered the room was in low light mode and there was no sign of staff yet. Moments later after Liam entered the room the lights came up. The computer spoke. “Welcome to Main Medical Dr. Liam Batario.” As he started to get a better look of the room as he started with the waiting area. Then to his office then out into the main part of sickbay. “Thank you computer.”Liam said politely as he continued to look over the area. He would deal with adjacent sections ward to ward and medical suite to medical suites and medical labs. He would take a small tour of the adjacent sections of the counseling wing and other science labs before returning to his office to start getting settled in as he noted his stuff was beamed over to the ship. “Ah! they finally got the transporters running.” As he started opening crates and cases and started putting things away.

He noted that the decor of the rooms was rather spartan with no pictures or plants. It was beyond sterile for his tastes. As he asked the Hydroponics Bay for some live plants to be delivered to his office and waiting areas He preferred pothos plants they were hearted and resilient but they were nice to look at. As he placed some padds away on the credenza and added some family pics to neighboring bookshelves and desk. to give his office more homey touches.

As a tech entered with a hover cart full of plants that the doctor requested. “Hello, Doctor welcome to the Chimera. I am Henry Marcus your plant delivery man.” As he stood there waiting for a reply. “Welcome to sickbay Ensign Henry Marus.” noting the humor in the man’s voice. Please feel free o place the plants in the waiting areas and I will deal with my office momentarily. “Thank you for trying to liven my mood it was much appreciated.” As the officer started positioning plants. “Not at all, doctor! I try to make everyone feel more welcome.” Henry said casually as he did his work. “OH! Do me a favor please make sure there are some more plants to go to my quarters.”

“Of course Doctor! As soon as we’re done here I will deal with that for you.” Henry said kindly to the doctor. At the same time, Liam started looking for a suitable location to have his cabin. For some odd reason, they always picked a far off location for his cabin to be than to have it more convenient being closer to sickbay as he looked over the schematics. Here is a good choice as he asked the computer to update the cabin assignment for his cabin to that location instead of the other room assignment. “Confirmed assignment amended.” the computer responded then fell quiet. His cabin was on deck 3 outside of the main sickbay now. He rather have had the main sickbay on deck 26 it’s in a better-protected location than deck three he would have to discuss this with the captain and xo and other command staff before a change like that can be made. He was ok with his room assignment now but would have been nicer in between the two locations for easier access to them both.

“We will finish with the plants here at the deck three locations then go to deck 26 to deal with the beat sickbay.” Liam sighed. “Of course Doctor!” Henry replied calmly to the doctor. “At least whoever set up the medical bay here was efficient and logical in the placement of the equipment and gear. I don’t have to change hardly anything.” Liam spoke to himself as he finished off all the boxes that he had here and used a smaller crate and packed a few things for the other sickbay.

“Ready doctor!” Henry spoke to let the doctor see his work in the other rooms. “Amazing you have a great eye for details.” Liam commented the officer. “Shall we head to Beta sickbay.” Liam asked the man. “Of course doctor! Lead the way.” Henry said with a small smile. As the exited the main sickbay and headed to the nearest lift. The doors opened to an empty lift car. They entered the lift with the plants. “Deck 26 Beta sickbay.” Liam requested. as the doors closed as the lift took off to its destination. It took a good minute to arrive as the car slowed to a stop the doors opened another dead quiet corridor.

they exited and followed the signs again to the Beta sickbay. the doors opened to a pitch black room as the lights came up the waiting room had furniture and tables. The officer here was bigger than in the last office. It had its furniture. but the main part of sickbay was rather baren still missing equipment and a few biobeds were missing not including a few missing computer components. “Please by all means get started with the placing of the plants in the office and waiting areas. While I try and figure out why this room was missed.” Liam sighed hard. As he noted a few crates over in the corner out of the was as he opened them noting the contents. Liam sighed hard. “I guess I am putting this all together.”

As he pulled out the computer components. “Thank goodness, I focused on ships repairs and procedures and took extra engineering courses to deal with this emergency. My brother made me learn this for this type of issues.” Liam commented softly to himself but not loud enough for Henry to here him. As he started to place the components into there proper homes and made sure the connections were right before giving power to the components and run diagnostics. The station hummed to life after Liam flipped the junction as the display light up and started displaying the Lcars operating system as it ran the initial start-up protocols. As it finished it began to speak. “Lcars Online. Running complete system checks for access and retrieval systems.”

Liam let the computer do as it suggested as he finished off placing the outer cover to the unit. “Systems online full system access restored. Ready for request.” the computer spoke again. “Scan entire Beta Sickbay network is all systems online now?” The computer beeped ” Biobeds Two and six are missing.” As Liam walked over and finished their setup and putting together of the beds. As Liam finished and inserted the module. “Point of information Biobeds two and six are now online and are now going into standby mode.” the computer spoke quickly then fell quiet. “Computer play some music from the betazoid music library. anything light and soft.” moments later a light new age type music started to play softly throughout sickbay as he continued to get items together and tools and instruments put away. By the time the doctor was done the room was finally in order.

“There sickbay is finally ready.” Liam said being satisfied with himself. As he took the smaller boxes and crate to the replicator for recycling. Liam tapped the wall panel. =^=”Transporter room one, please beam away the remainder of the empty storage crates for recycling.” Liam asked calmly to them. Moments later they have been beamed away. “Thank you! Dr. Batario out.”=^= Liam checked the lab next door to make sure all was ok there as he slowly moved through the medical section here. “Thank the four deities all is done there. ” Henry came up to the doctor all done. “Care to see??” Henry asked him. “Sure I am all done here other than dealing with my cabin.” Liam said calmly to Henry.

“Shall we finish?” Liam asked the man. “Sure I am ready! I got more plants while you finished your tasks.” Henry said with a smile again. Liam quickly looked over the man’s work again. All looked good to him. “Very nice.” Liam said sincerely as he grabbed his bag from his backup office. “Thank you for your assistance.” Liam commented. “Anytime doc.” Henry said as he grabbed his cart. as they made there way out of sickbay and headed to his cabin on deck 3, for now, to make sure that the change in room assignment is ok. He can easily adjust to deck 16 if all agree to his request for the change and fixing the quarters to accommodate a DH being there instead of on deck 3.

They made there way back to the lift and headed for deck three. Liam sighed hard as the doors opened to a nicely set up cabin. but he wanted to do some changes on the furnature layout before he started to get settled in. “Please get your self a drink while I do a minor change to the furniture layout then we can place the final plants.” Liam explained. “Care for anything ?” Henry asked him. “Sure! A Ferengi Star Duster. Please!” Liam asked for quickly. Henry took the orders and went to the replicator and retrieved the drinks for both of them As he placed the drink at the dining room table for easier access to the drinks as they started to place plants and decorations and pictures.

After finishing the organizing of the items they took a seat and had a drink. “There we can relax a minute or two I know your busy too but you’re more than welcome to take a breather.” Liam said with a small smile. “Thank you, sir!” as he took a seat. “Please call me Liam.” He said kindly to the man. As they took a good drink of there beverages. “It’s nice to have a hand to get things in order. thanks again for the assist.” Liam said quickly. “No Problem Liam what are friends are for?” Henry said kindly to him. Liam was not sure what to think of the man’s response at first. All he could think of is. “Thank you, Henry. It never hurts to have more friends.” “Well sorry to cut this short and run, but I do have more work to do.” Henry said with a faltering smile. “It’s fine I understand. completely.” Liam said with a smile as he was trying to make him feel better as a smile returned again to henrys face. “Maybe we can meet up for dinner at the diner on the station before the ship leaves Spacedock.” Liam suggested. “you’re on!” Henry said with a broader smile now. “catch ya later.” Henry said as the doors opened he left with his cart.
