Sitting up in bed, Malcolm looked puzzled for a moment and then smiled softly. “Ellie… hun… your glasses are on the table by the couch where you left them. Though, I think you can see fine without them.”“Ah… I told you. Style. Plus… Brother got them. Can’t lose them.” She smiled embarrassedly. Hopefully he wouldn’t find out exactly what they were for. A colorblind pilot? She’d never hear the end of it.
Then it hit him. “Ah… got it. Revenge huh… so making out on the couch till we both passed out is a revenge tactic.” He chided. “Not that I’m complaining… even drunk you’re a hell of a kisser.” Malcolm then gave a more sincere and warm smile. “But if you’re worried about anything else… don’t be. We didn’t… ya know… last night. I promise. There are still a few secrets left for me to… discover… and that’ll be when your cute little ass is sober.”
Malcolm
“Wait….” Eleanor stopped in her tracks and looked back up at Malcolm. “We didn’t? But… I’m wearing your clothes. Top and bottom… How…” She seemed momentarily confused. “What secrets are there left it I had to be naked to change clothes?”
Eleanor
“Two things…” Malcolm smiled and then snickered. “… boy, you northern girls are somethin’ else. Ellie honey…” He smiled a warm yet suggestive smile. “… one, you can get naked with a guy and not do it. Secondly, you weren’t… naked. I gave you something to sleep in and you changed in the bathroom.” Getting out of bed, Eleanor would see that… minus a shirt… Malcolm was still rather clothed, sporting a pair of black sweatpants with the Fighter Command crest on the right leg. “Maybe boys where you’re from are jerks that take advantage of girls… where I’m from… you pull that nonsense and either the girl is gonna whoop your ass or his momma will.”
Malcolm
Slowly, Eleanor realized what he was saying. She stopped, laying what she had gathered from her things on the foot of the bed. “So… we really didn’t do it?”
“Sure didn’t…” Malcolm smiled. “… I’m not a love’em and leave’em kinda guy anyway. Not my… style.” His smile grew as he settled on the foot of the bed beside her.
She couldn’t believe that a guy could be that respectful. However, she did remember the make out session… quite well, actually. So at least that part of the story matched. Sitting down, Eleanor turned to face him. “What is in it for you then? I… No one has ever done this for me. I mean… it’s not like I usually go around random guy’s beds… as I said… not my style. But… you could have easily have taken advantage of the situation… Most guys would anyway. I know my last boyfriend certainly did, although not in the same way…”
Eleanor
“Well…” Dawkins had a more sly grin. “… having spent half the night snugged up next to you, you certainly have my interests piqued for more… discoveries.” He winked playfully. “As for what’s in it for me… honestly… you’re a gorgeous girl I’d like to get to know better. What’s not to like about that!?” Looking into her eyes, Malcolm added. “I know that isn’t your style hun… you wouldn’t be here if I thought that was the case. Now…” He frowned slightly. “… as for this ex of yours. I don’t know who that loser is… but Captain Malcolm Dawkins, SFMC is happy to take on the job of wiping that jackass from your memory.” His smile was bright and genuine. “Just sayin’” He winked once more.
Malcolm
For the first time since both pilots had met, Eleanor’s face lit up with a genuine smile. Her cheeks turned a shade of pink. “Thank you for the offer, Captain. You’ve done a pretty good job so far.” She chuckled. She placed a hand on his leg and tapped it softly.
Settling his hand on top of hers, he gave it a loving squeeze. “Good to know, Captain.”
“I must say…” Carnegie continued after a pause. “… you have my curiosity piqued too Malcolm. You’re sweet… kind… not too bad looking.” She added a wink to her growing smirk, as her cheeks turned a brighter pink. “I thought all fighter pilots were obnoxious and arrogant and seemed to be compensating for something.” Her smirk was now fully on her face. “I don’t know whether or not you’re compensating for something but… you’re not what I expected.” She smiled warmly. “What do you say to staring this again, this time the right way?”
Eleanor
“Nah…” Malcolm laughed. “… not… all of us. Some of us are just regular guys who lucked out and got to fly for a living. Though, we do question the Bomber pilots’ motives from time to time.” He winked and slipped his arm around Eleanor’s back and gave her a gentle squeeze. “As for starting things up the right way… personally… a night of making out like crazy then waking up next to you is a hell’of’a good starting point, if ya ask me.” Dawkins’ smile was brilliant as he looked down into Ellie’s eyes. “At least from where I’m sitting.”
Malcolm
Eleanor laughed. “Bomber pilots just like to smash things… after all isn’t that what all Marines like to do? They just get to do it from the sky.” She joked.
With a shrug and a chuckle, Malcolm nodded. “Hell… that sounds ‘bout right. But isn’t breaking things why we all signed up for the Corps?”
“I know, right?” Eleanor laughed. “And yet, only some of us get to do it!”
Leaning into Malcom’s shoulder as his arm slipped around her, Eleanor seemed to have found at least some sort of peace. She chuckled again. “Well… I’ll give you that one. Although, how about we keep the alcohol to a minimum the next time? I’d actually like to enjoy the night and remember it all in one.” She smiled as she looked back into his eyes. “I could show you my bird… and we could crack open one of the nine packs of Double Juicy Fruit Gum that come with it.” She smiled raising an eyebrow in a playful questioning look. “And maybe in exchange you could let me pilot yours for a few hours on the weekend.” Eleanor said with a wink. “What do you say?”
Eleanor
As Ellie leaned in, Malcolm instinctively held her closer. He liked the smell of her hair and used the moment to nuzzle close for just a second. “I’m good for a good time with or without booze… I’m just better at pool and darts without.” He said as he shifted back away from her hair. Looking into her eyes, Dawkins nodded in agreement. “Sounds good… always wanted to try some of that Recon-Approved gum they give y’all. As for my bird…” He raised a playful eyebrow. “… what’s in it for me?”
Malcolm
“Remind me to get you drunk and then take you to play darts, then.” She said with a wink. He was sweet. The feeling was only heightened by him nuzzling her close.
“Evil ass…” Malcolm chuckled as he squeezed her closer.
“You get the gum.” Carnegie said without missing a beat as his last words left his mouth. “Do you have any idea how rare that gum is?” She chuckled. “I don’t know… maybe we could try something more in my Ranger… you know… since I actually fly a bird that has breathing space inside…”
Eleanor
“Ah… gum!” Dawkins winked playfully. “That’s it! That super special gum.” He then nuzzled in for a kiss and couldn’t help but let his hand find Ellie’s thigh. “Now… about the Ranger. How much space we talkin’ about? And… ah… just how sound proof is the cockpit?”
Malcolm
Kissing Malcolm back, Eleanor smiled as they pulled away. “Enough.” She finally said with a smirk and a wink. “She’s also warp capable, in case you don’t find it soundproof enough. Although… I would really like to keep my job… but I could take you for a ride.” She knew the double entendre would not be lost on him.
Eleanor
Malcolm bit his lip as he gave Ellie’s thigh a firm squeeze. “I bet you could.” He winked and then kissed her once more. One hand on her thigh the other in her hair, it was a much more intense kiss than the ones before and would remind Ellie of the previous night. After enjoying the kiss for as long as he could stand without it leading them back into bed, the Marine broke the kiss and smiled a breathless smile. “We definitely need to… um… grab dinner tonight after work. What’dya say?”
Malcolm
The feeling of his lips brought back memories from the night before. Her hands settled on his shoulders urging him on, fiercely kissing him back until he broke the kiss.
Eleanor smiled. “Dinner sounds good.” Taking his hand, she turned his wrist so that she could see his chronographer. “Yeah… I should probably get going… I still need to go back and change.” With that, she slid the Houston University shirt she had borrowed over her head, revealing a black sports bra and the small inscription with her call sign on the back of her left shoulder. Standing up she grabbed the Steelers shirt she wore the day before and started to slide it through her head.
He couldn’t help it. Malcolm tried to look away as Eleanor changed but he just couldn’t take his eyes off her. Her back, her stomach, her… well… one thing was for certain; if the girl didn’t have his undivided attention before, she sure as hell did now! The Marine continued to admire as his fellow aviatrix dressed and as she finished, the stupid smile on his face just wouldn’t go away.
“Where do you want to go? Halcyon? Or the floor of my bird?” She winked.
Eleanor
“I don’t know…” Malcolm smiled (like an idiot). “… where would the Iron Lady like to go?”
Malcolm
Eleanor shook her head and rolled her eyes. “The Iron Lady would like you to stop drooling and call her by her name.” She smiled. “I don’t know.” She shrugged. “That’s why I asked you first.” She paused. “Halcyon? I’ve heard there’s some pretty good burger joints in there.”
Eleanor
“Yes ma’am!” The Marine laughed. “So… Burgers eh?” Malcolm smiled widely. “You really are a ballcap and blue jeans kinda girl, aren’t cya?” He looked in thought for a second and then winked. “How about we make an evening of it. I got a few holodeck credits to burn. We can grab a burger and then how about I take you out for a surprise?” His mischievous eyes sparkled.
Malcolm
Eleanor smiled at the comment. “Fancy family, simple girl, I guess.” She shrugged, as her smirk returned to her face. “I’m not sure I want to see that surprise.” Carnegie chuckled. “It’s in your eyes.” She added a wink before smiling warmly. “I would love to. Captain Malcolm Dawkins, SFMC, you really are taking on the job of wiping my jagoff ex-boyfriend from my memory, aren’t you? I appreciate it.”
Eleanor
“Pleasure to be of service, ma’am.” The Marine said with a smile and a fake British accent. “So…” He leaned back and raised an eyebrow. “Carnegie huh… any relation to the Carnegie that helps run Holloway Industries?” His eyes kept drifting back to the Steelers logo on Eleanor’s shirt, well… partly the logo.
Malcolm
“Eyes up here, soldier.” Eleanor said pointing at her eyes. “Unless you’re such a Steeler’s fan that you can’t take your eyes off their logo.” She winked. “Somehow I doubt a Texan would be that much of a fan.” She chuckled. There was plenty of sarcasm in her tone.
The smirk that crossed Malcolm’s face should have been enough of a warning as to something smartass getting ready to come out. With a slight bounce of his eyebrows, he quipped. “Nah… Texans fan myself… not as much of a fan of what’s on your shirt as to what’s under it.” He winked. “But it did look good draped over my nightstand.”
“Yeah… dad’s the one with Holloway Heavy Industries… My oldest brother too.” Eleanor grabbed her pants and started to put them on. “If you don’t mind, I’m keeping your boxers until I get back to my quarters. They’re surprisingly comfy.” She smiled. “Hopefully my last name won’t make you feel less at ease… that was never my intention. But it seems to intimidate some people.” She shrugged. “Though I thought you had figured it out at the Iron Lady part.”
The Marine suddenly looked like he swallowed his tongue. “Holy frack! You’re kiddin’ me, right?! THE Carnegie family?! Hell… your old man’s company build half the components in our birds! Wow…” His smirk returned with vengeance. “… snagged me a rich girl, huh?!” Malcolm winked then waved his hand. “Now being serious… no, your daddy’s money ain’t scarin’ off the poor, inner city kid from South Texas. Y’all put your pants on one leg at a time just like me. I learned long ago, money isn’t everything.”
“Anyway… I should be on my way or I’ll be late. Thank you for letting me bunk last night.” Carnegie walked to the couch to grab her glasses from the table before putting them on. Somehow, she seemed to be relieved. “You look much better with them on.” Walking back to Malcolm she pulled him in for a kiss before she let him go. “See you at dinner, Captain. Are you picking me up on my quarters or should I come here?”
Eleanor
“Of course… happy to oblige.” Dawkins had a bright smile as Eleanor walked towards him. As she kissed him, he slipped his right hand’s fingers gently into her hair. With a grin, he replied. “How’s 1830 at your place. No fancy clothes… we’re gonna have some fun!”
