OOC> Anyone can pick this up…

Amy spoke from where she was “We have extensive scanners, we can locate them before they ever get here.” She said “We can bring additional personnel down to assist in the protection.” She said “As for your assumption that we want to mine minerals for this enemy, we don’t do that. We may discuss later, the ability to establish a trade agreement, otherwise we will leave you in peace.” Amy said and looked at Kate “Have the Chimera start long range scans for the Orions.” She said

XO

=^= Hawkins to the Chimera. We have had an interesting turn of events. Can you scan the area for Orions? =^=

2nd Lt Hawkins - Marine XO

“Start scanning the area for Orions,” Sarah said as she reached for the comm channel.

=^= Understood Lieutenant. Should we be looking in any particular location? =^=

Captain Allen - CO

The scans would not detect any Orions, however it would detect a semi circular area about 10 kilometers wide that had a sensor and transporter dispersion field. The field was not immediately detected due to the common low level radiation from ‘natural’ sources. The planet seemed to have an atypical amount of radioactive minerals. It wasn’t dangerous… just rare.

GM

Amy spoke up =^=Captain, it seems that the Orions have been causing some trouble for these folks. I would suggest scanning all space around the planet and on the planet.=^= She said

XO

“Captain,” NE Sense said form the science station, “I’m not picking up any Orion’s in the area. However, our sensors are limited by an increased amount of background radiation in the area. It seems like there is a larger then normal amount of radioactive minerals on the planet.”

“Thank you Ensign. Anything else?”

“Well, there does seem to be an area where the sensors are having a hard time penetrating. But it might be due to the radiation being higher in that area.”

“Keep an eye on it. And keep an eye out for any other ships entering the area.”

Sarah looked at the screen and wondered what they had exactly stumbled into. After a moment she opened up the comm channel again.

=^= XO, we are not detecting any Orion’s in the area. But we will keep a lookout just in case. =^=

Captain Allen - CO
=^=Captain I need five more security officers beamed down so we can work in teams on helping Valron and his people defend themselves against the Orions. =^=

XO

There was a sudden dip in the lights, as the ship whined for a moment and it switched over to impulse and back up power. All signs suggested that the last few dilithum crystals had given up the ghost and were no longer supporting the warp drive.

GM

Sarah turned around as the lights dimmed, and heard the whine of the ship changed as they switched to backup and impulse power. She did not have time for this.

=^= Cmdr you’ll have them. We’ve got issues up here, and I’ll have them beam down ASAP. =^=

=^= Allen to Tenkiller. I need 5 of your best men to pack up and beam down to the surface. The XO needs some support. =^=

“And in the mean time,” she crumbled under her breath, “we need to figure out what’s going on with the ship.”

Capt Allen - CO

=/\= Aye, aye. We will be planet-side in 3 minutes.=/\=

Tenkiller, CoS
